Well its Friday Folk in such a better mood. My back seems to be on the mend today so I can finish my Crocodile Dundee sleeping on the floor bit, been in so much pain this week not focused on anything. Now need to build up my upper body strength - swimming or play with dumb bells on my gym ball - not paying gym membership.
Will have to buy a few food things today or tomoro hopefully no more than a tenner - watch this space. Need to list some clothes on ebay, as I have to make the 100 extra quid this month as now cleared my capital one card.
Trying to get under 10k before my bday middle of this month. So will sort out wardrobes this afternoon as finish early.
Need new walking boots feet soaked this morning after walking doggy. May look at prices this afternoon bday soon ;-)LBM 13039 1.1.13 Now £0 Finally Debt FreeMortgage free Oct 2019:)EFund/savings £25000 10/11/220 -
Hello, and another day no SFD. However I wondered if it counts towards the charity donation i.e. food bank rule. A friend of ours is running a campaign to have a really run down and dangerous play park in a not so nice area of the city done up and does loads of events. Today they had a cake sale in our work and I spend £8 on cakes and cookies (take most up to our friends this weekend). So as it's money spend on a charitable cause I wonder if it counts? The whole idea of the foodbank was for a reason. I know people are attributing the money spent to a charitable cause but that's not what i wanted the focus on. I have no problems with anyone wanting to spend money on local events around the area but it's the simple act of realising how much food can be "personally picked up from the supermarket and dropped into a food bin or brought to a food bank"..
We as a nation waste so much food hence the control on these threads as to how much you can spend, when you spend it and the emphasis on planning planning and planning - some people need that extra help. That £3 is a morning coffee my colleague drinks from Starbucks EVERY morning.... £60 a month! I wonder what a "jobless by circumstance not by choice" family could do with that...
Wherever you send the money is up to you Thrifty - I can only control so much of each persons existance during this thread if at all... but there was a justification for an extra £5 when a homemade lemon drizzle coulda been so much cheaper...
Now I am not having a go at anyone who decides to send their money elsewhere.. I just realise I didn't explain what and why that £3 was imperative this month and what the general idea for the donation was...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".0 -
Hi Kat,
Do you think making a £3 donation to Trussell Trust is a cop out? I completely understand the argument you're making, and was looking forward to making up a £3 donation of food, but I've found out my nearest food bank will be a 24 mile round trip to a town I don't have any other reason to go to. Thoughts?
Today won't be a SFD - car MOT - passed, but advisory 2 rear tyres need replacing. Can't afford those at the mo., so will just be paying for the MOT.
So that's 3/4 SFD
Lunches 4/4 though yay
Still haven't costed how the uni open day trips are going to work, so am going to do that today, along with working out a revised DFD and updating signature balances.
I just received £2.63 cashback, so have transferred that to CC :j

Morning all
Cant believe how quick this thread is moving, will catch up on reading later. So far 2 SFDs although todays not finished yet.
Yesterday went out for a planned meal out which cost me £15, I do love the way some people react when you say you are only paying for what you had...... I had half garlic bread starter, main and water (as driving) and tip, No Im not putting towards your wine bill and large starters and fillet steaks. Pig off!!!!!!:A
Had cashback from Qu1Dc0 today so paid it sraight off cc and hopefully NSK will agree it counts as money made towards my £100.
Anyway offski now TTFN xxxHalifax CC All paid Mort £7669.99,Car loan 31 months to go

Ok, that's no problem. I still think my £8 were a contribution to a good cause that is close to my heart as we'll be using that play park too (oh and thanks I know HM lemon drizzle cake is cheaper, it was not about buying cake but giving money).
BUT, I also totally understand your argument for the food bank and shall do that too. Our local Asda does a collection and I will donate the food there this month once I checked the list of items they want.
We will be up north with friends from tonight till Monday while other friends stay in our house. Anyway, so I need to apologise in advance if I can't check in every day as I don't know how the internet facilities are up there. But I will write down all my spends (hopefully noneand report back Monday night.

Nah thats fine. No point in wasting more than that in petrol...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Thrifty don't donate any more.. that money like you said is going to a cause that will ultimately benefit you in the long run as "free fun".. my favourite kind of fun! You have done you bit.. (incidentally made a lemon drizzle last week - why is it SO addictive)...“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Ok, cheers. But I keep the food bank in mind for next month then.
Actually your food bank argument hit a spot there. Was just thinking the £1.40 I wasted yesterday on M&Ms would have fed us nearly for a dinner for two:eek:. That thought will stay with me for a while now and keep me on the straight and narrow. Thanks Kat, sometimes I need the whip cracked

From looking at the trussell trust it would appear that all he donated money doesn't necessarily buy 'food' but is also used to help start up more food banks etc... Looks like they also help run cooking courses for people on low incomes which personally I think is a great idea and will help people that really need to get more from their food budget whilst ensuring they still eat good meals.
If you want all your £3 to help locally you could look at your local food banks website to see if you can donate direct. Mine does but you have to do a minimum of £5 so I'm going to do nov as well in one go.
I had taken the challenge to be about food bank rather than other (still good causes) as the £3 is from the food budget. Think if I have extra money in my 'cat' fund after I have stocked up (don't buy food and litter monthly as buy in bulk) then I may start buying some cat food for local rspca where I got my cat from a few weeks ago. Think it is a nice idea:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0
