Can't wait to read the poem in the morning though.

Please don't get too excited. It's pure cheese in a bowl with cheese on top. :rotfl:
“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent".

Haha! that would be brilliant thriftylass!
but OAMC is exhausting!!!!!! I got a blister on my chopping finger from it last time I did it! And I never seem to have enough large pots to boil and stew everything up in!! We'd have to make sure January was 31 days (?!!!) so we could order a takeaway cause we're so exhausted from all the batch cooking!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    xxx

My freezer simply wouldn't be big enough :rotfl:. And I would still need to spend on fresh fruit as they don't last a month. I guess I could freeze yogurts and bread too. But again space issues. I will be happy if I actually manage a month with just one spend day a week ;) Plus there are certain things we like to eat esp pasta dishes that don't freeze well.

Erm, January is always 31 days, no? :p

    Hello lovelies!

I write to you with my very pretty feline daughter purring on my knee, cuppa to the side and a flat that looks like a bomb has dropped! I have been furiously packing. 2 cases done. 2 smaller (hand luggage) to go! DH claims he couldn't get today off, leaving me, the girl who has as much spatial awareness as a carrot to pack all of our dive gear and the rest! However, as I keep reminding myself it all means HOLIDAY so it's an means to an end!

So thought I'd get my final farewell post to Octobers Awareness (read: awesomeness) before I head over to the NOvember thread as I'll need to post up my budgets etc a day early as we leave early doors tomorrow and will be internet and mobile signal-less for 8 days. No wifi in the Red Sea!

First- Congrats to all for taking part and hitting whatever SFDs. It's all aces whether you hit target or not. This is my 3rd of Kat's challenges and the first time I've actually hit the target! SFDs- 20/20

Second- Huge super over excitedness to Kat & Loveadove for their tiny debts now owed! You'll not need until NYE at this rate!

My books balanced this month despite unexpected additional diving & dental expenses. My friend is becoming MSEy and so downloaded the app I use- HomeBudget - he was inputting the data over our nights together (work shifts, not lovers, hah!) and it struck me at how outrageous our monthly regular outgoings are! I thought I'd share with you all- In October £4348.96 came into my and DHs accounts (£3600 in salaries) and £4298.73 left them over the month. Of which approx 25% went to debts. Pretty crazy really. But I suppose £340 of that is DHs house which his sister rents so the rates (it's in NI), insurance and mortgage for that is covered/cancelled out. No CCs used all month which I'm very happy about. Therefore I am claiming October as a success!

Thanks to everyone, you've been fab. The people make this challenge as good as it is! Much MSE love

This line made me splutter my tea everywhere laughing! :rotfl:

    Wahoooo!

My Uke has found a new forever home. I have finally 'made' some extra money this month- £10. Only 90% short of the OA challenge :) Better than my original 'owt.

SFD day today so total for the month is: 23 :j

Thrifty - When I click on the eb@y free 10 day listing advert it takes me to the .com site and everything is in $'s. *Baffled* I'm pretty lame when it comes to ebay... Would love to get my ski jacket and game listed for free if I can! :)

I just went and logged onto my account. When I listed sth today for 10 day listing it came up with no fees (the 7 day option would have cost). Maybe don't go through the advert but log on as normal.

Sadly not an extra shift. I was supposed to be working tomorrow dayshift but a "bob" has phoned in sick as they only have one "bob" and two "bernies" on nightshift, they desperately needed a replacement "bob". (I am very wary about identifying my career as I am still recovering from work-related stress so I try to avoid anything to do with it online. Hope that makes sense).

However, I do get extra money for unsociable hours as it is night-time so that's a good thing. Will have to check with my dad if 00:00 - 19:30 extra pay would equal £80 or not.
    ;)

Currently attempting my second ever attempt at bread from scratch not using a bread machine. Fingers crossed it goes well.

Sometimes it would be easier to have OH on board. He came home and straight away moant that i didnt buy any sweets for trick or treaters (i had however found a few in our cupboard) and that wasnt goid enough. Now i couldnt explain about not ruining a SFD and wasting money on sweets. So he went out and bought some.

Rxcuse the spelling, stupid touch scrern acting up.

I came under on my Food, Entertainment, Petrol and Medicinal budget but went over on my Clothes budget.

All in my total budget was £400 and I spent £300.64, leaving me with £99.36 left, and I have just over £500 left in my bank account that I haven't touched for the length of the challenge.

Last month, with no real budget in mind or planning I had just over £250 left. I am amazed at what I have been able to achieve with only a little bit of planning

Most of that £500 is going to go to the credit card tomorrow once my wages are in and NOvember starts. Still got to work on my NOvember budgets.

Well done everyone! We made it! I squeaked in there with SFD 20 today! It's been a heck of a lot of fun, and despite the oil tank for the winter's heating needing filling, we are still managing to knock £800 off the debt this month. Don't know how we managed that! We've hardly spent a bean I suppose is the reason... all thanks to the challenge. I can't wait to start NOvember's. Feeling very good and loving the team support here - thank you guys and see you over in NOvember!

(We didn't get any trick or treaters and I have eaten a lot of the buns I made for them, so I might just be on a bit of a sugar high...)

Watching the great energysaving challenge on beebs 2, wonder if i can learn sth.

Didnt get any trick or treaters either. Glad i didnt buy anything.

Edit: didnt learn that much but it reminded me to close off the attics again soon, they lead directly into our bedrooms through the wardrobes and we leave it open for ventilation in summer and for the cat to roam, but it lets loads of cold air in now
