  • I don't think you meant whether it is an SFD. Here's the way I do it. If it is an online grocery order I count the day it gets delivered as that is also the day the money comes out and it is as if I'd gone to the shops. If it is sth like Amazon, I count the day I buy it as I pay it that day (even if it takes a few days to show on the card).

Thriftylass Thankyou, that is exactly what I meant. I think I will go with counting it on the day I buy it. My hair stuff I buy online and it will last me a good six months, at least. So I want to buy it tomorrow, which is going to be a shopping day anyways.

Although, I might have a tube of my hair stuff packed in my travel bag, will have to investigate that later on because I may save a purchase, will still have to food shop tomorrow anyways, but I have some coupons and a list. :D I have company coming for the weekend, so need to get a little extra food in :j:j

NSK - I knew exactly what you meant, and wasn't trying to cheat, just make sure that any online purchases had to be done on a spend day. thank you

    hey all

Just reviewing the month and can't believe how different the picture is this month compared to most. I didn't use any of my ccards once! I haven't bought anything frivolous, I even managed to reign in the ongoing loans to OH! I'm really proud that overall, if I combine all my budget totals, I haven't overspent :) plus I achieved 29 SFDs.

Can't wait for NOvember to start tomorrow. I've already turned down 2 social events this weekend (luckily I could use the excuse of not leaving the animals on nights when there would lots of fireworks).

Congratulations to all who have made it to the end of the challenge. I can't believe how much it has helped me/taught me :) Thanks NSK!

Hurrah one and all, we've made it to the end :A

So, the final day of the challenges sees a 19th SFD - not the best, but still not a bad effort. I find this the hardest part of the challenges as inevitably, I'm in place A which sells something I need but next day I travel to place B which sells something else I need. I can't get them both on the same day and I need them both, but overall no extra money is spent so I'm quite pleased with my total of 19 :)

My food budget was good and came in around £4 under target. And I have around 4 or 5 meals left in the freezer so hopefully a head start on NOvember!

Petrol lasted exactly to the end of the month. My petrol light is screaming at me to fill up but it can wait til tomorrow. Loving how the prices are coming down! My second nearest petrol station is selling at 128.9 per litre. I'm sure one day I'll look back and laugh at this being a low price, but for now it makes me happy!

There is still £6.08 in my misc purse :D Again, another tough part of the challenge juggling gift buying, nights out, toiletries, car parking etc but I'll pop this in my coin jar (it'll come in handy for parking meters and times when I need change)

Making an extra £100? Eh, massive fail! My days and nights are usually jam packed with doing two jobs so if I count ebay sales, coins found and money made via apps like Quidco and Field Agent, I just about scraped £25...shall try harder next month!

All in all a decent month. Despite a holiday, I still managed to pay some more debt off - in fact I'm painfully close to finishing the challenge Kat and I set a year ago which was to end on 31 December 2013. We're both about to smash it almost two months early :T:T:T

But maybe we could try 29 for January challenge with cook-once-a-month when no-one wants to/can spend any money anyway :D

I was just away to say!! Woweee fmess!!
    :rotfl:

Still impressive to get 20 but you had me trying to figure out how I could have survived on two spend days... there is no way at all.
    :(

Just had a phone call and am now on nightshift tonight so will unfortunately miss the "midnight opening" of the November challenge. Can't wait to read the poem in the morning though.

It is my first ever nightshift in my new job and I am a bit nervous. Have never been "in charge" properly.

Is that an extra shift? If so you'll have made extra money on the first day of the challenge!

Haha! that would be brilliant thriftylass!
but OAMC is exhausting!!!!!! I got a blister on my chopping finger from it last time I did it! And I never seem to have enough large pots to boil and stew everything up in!! We'd have to make sure January was 31 days (?!!!) so we could order a takeaway cause we're so exhausted from all the batch cooking!!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
