All Volkswagen cars have either a full size steel or skinny spare as standard , except the Sharan which has self sealing tyresYou scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

if you buy a spare wheel for it make sure you have some way of securing it inside the boot. Been many a serious injury from spare wheels hitting people in the back in car accidents because they weren't securedAll your base are belong to us.0 -
Easy answer ....... if the car doesn't come with at least a space saver , walk away . If enough people did that , the manufacturers would come to there senses.
I recently enquired about a second hand car , my FIRST remark to the salesman ...... no spare ... NO deal !0 -

There is a very good reason spare tyres were introduced and it should be added to the MOT to have one.
Why not covered? AA, RAC and Greenflag all say they will cover for punctures as long as you've used whatever your vehicle comes with so if its just goo and goo doesnt fix the problem then you're still covered0 -
If no spare shocked you i hope you dont think of buying an S-Max. Not only do they not supply one as standard if you do buy one you wont have anywhere to put it except in the luggage area of the boot. And if you use the 7 seats it may not fit at all.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0

While manufacturers always sell change like this as a benefit, it saves weight, makes the car more economical, etc. Balls, it is just shaving cost off of the production of the thing. Look at the AA, with almost a fifth of all of their members travelling around without a simple spare wheel, they are trying out a "universal" spare wheel to stop them being lumbered with so many expensive recoveries instead of straightforward wheel changes.0

I know punctures are uncommon but I think they are more likely than any other kind of failure and something that can be easily ameliorated if the wheel is to hand. Let's face it, if you need to call a breakdown van the most likely time it will happen will be at say 3am on a filthy Sunday morning in December when you are freezing your kahhoonas and there is a major incident elsewhere that is sucking-in all breakdown resources in the area ... at least that is how it would happen for me!
I had to google that...it means improved for anyone else who didn't know.0 -

Do you really believe that?
Prices would go up to cover any costs involved adding the spare, so buying a spare from scrap yard or buying one brand new shouldn't cost anymore
I agree though that all cars should have at least a space saver
We have a Hyundai and a Kia on the drive, the Hyundai has a full size spare alloy wheel, the Kia has a space saver0 -
Research before buying, simples, don't like what you find don't buy.0
