tigtag - how zoom-ified is that picture?
We've had weevils before, but I'm sure they were tiny wee beasties.
MethererNot heavily in debt, but still trying to sort things out.

Tigtag, I won't ask how you had access to a picture of flour weevils at such short notice :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
I gonna have to go and tip the flour on some newspaper outside now just to make sure though now!!:wave:0 -
I used the god of all gods, google
I would imagine that its pretty zoomified (which, for the record is cool word of the day)

same here. Very tiny little creatures.
I also found that even in a sealed bag we would end up with weevels in the flour. The only flour that hasn't ever had a weavel in is homepride the one that has a plastic lid on. I know it is more expensive but i prefer my flour to be creature less. LOL.My gran used to use the flour with weevels in.I don't suppose people could afford to thow anything away in those days. They won't harm you. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile0 -

That's because they were there before you even bought the flour:eek:
If you're not squeamish, there's a long thread here - bugs and beasties in flour. Enjoy!

Yes i agree that they were there before i bought the flour but they wasn't visible. Then again it was the cheap flour that i was having problems with. The more expensive flour seems to be bug free.
Thanks for the link just what i wanted to lokk at on a sunday evening. LOLWhen life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile0 -
 I've just completely freaked myself out and watched these little blighters on youtube. Ewwwwwwwww gross! I had to look away, I felt sick.
TBH if I hadn't looked closely I probably wouldn't have even seen the little critters in my flour. I think there were 3 and they were tiny. I tipped the bag out onto a newspaper outside and couldn't see anything else but the flour has been binned, naturally.
I'm going to have to go thru that cupboard with a fine toothcomb tomorrow. Hopefully cereals should be ok as they're stored in another cupboard and have Klippits on. Ditto rice and pasta. Usually once I open a packet I Klippit so hopefully there shouldn't be a prob. (praying hard here, fingers crossed, touch wood etc.!) There is only flour really that I just roll the top over, as my turnover of plain and sr is usually pretty quick.:wave:0 -
To begin at the beginning, a friend gave me a large contaner of Basmati rice some while ago (she'd been given it by her sister who'd bought a huge bag and wanted to share it.)
Anyway to cut a long story short I went to get some out last night and found it had tiny little insects hopping about  (the size of those little thunderbugs that can get into pictures/mirrors and even behind laptop screens).
This rice has always been kept in an airtight box so I'm wondering how these creatures got there in the first place and what they are?
Anyone that didn't have A1 eyesight would miss them......:wave:0 -
I believe things like that and weevils are already in but unhatched in things like grain and flour. Then they just hatch with time. I could be wrong0
