No premium bonds win:( So back to work for me , better luck next month :)

I've updated my sig, mortgage balance now stands at £35,781.70;) so im please to be in the 35s.

Ive been thinking about trying to push ourselves to possibly try and overpay the 10% allowed per calendar year off the mortgage, as well as saving the £750 a month in p.bonds for the 2016 mortgage clearance . Im giving it a go from this month, ive got a savings account with zero balance, so im transferring any spare/savings from grocery spends etc to that, there is a total of £34 in there so far :T
My plan is after pay day make the overpayment.. lets see if we can do it..:)

Thank you Amycool ! nice to know someone reads my ramblings. This diary is such a good motivator, its nice to go back and then see how far we have come, and what we have achieved.:)

Today's money update- hubby won the works bonus ball- triple rollover:beer:, so at least £120 to share. As we have our main 2 weeks off work together coming up in a fortnight, may save mine towards a treat.. but then, may just put it in mortgage overpayment fund.. decisions decisions:p

we have already budgeted for a couple of nice days out, and we will of course be having a few lovely long country hikes, with picnics and flask of tea, cant wait!! :)

tax rebate cheque came yesterday, £43.87, so that will be paid in today, then will be added to this months over payment fund.

Also, hubby and i decided with our bonus ball winnings to split £40 for me, £40 for him, and £40 to mortgage over payment fund, so another £40 getting paid in today!:j

Im having eyes tested today at boots, using £10 voucher, i am long sited, and as ive been having a lot of headaches lately, i think i might need specs:o

Well, i better get some house work done, appointment at 12.20, then tesco shop..

It's tempting to do the lottery just for the excitement! I did once put a few pounds in as I got cashback and won £2, and I've won the odd £10 on gift lottery tickets, but I'm not generally very lucky with random competitions. Enjoy your time off with your spending money!

Break up from work next friday :j for our annual two weeks. We have my hubbys daughter for the first week and have a few days out that are geared towards her, then we use the second week for a couple of days out as a couple, and relaxing, along with those niggly jobs that need doing. Really looking forward to it, and budgeted for.

My son (24) is going to work in new zealand next month , initially for 9 months, its going to be strange not seeing him for all that time :( but im glad he has the confidence to grab opportunity, and after all, i think the greatest gift we give our children is wings to fly as they say, still sad for me tho, im going to miss my baby :(

Mortgage over payment pot for August stands at £119, im hoping to make it to £200 , lets see :)

Ive done calculations, and at the moment we look set to make this months savings targets, after all d/ds paid..

I was browsing property last night (torturing myself as we cant move till Aug 2016), and saw yet another lovely house with land, that would definitely warrant a viewing if were looking now, on the positive side at least it shows what we want is out there!

Happy money saving every one :):):):):):)

    Hi Sammy
just read through your diary. Gosh you are doing really well. You have really motivated me in paying off my mortgage (that's why I like to read the MFW diaries).

I have 2 horses and my OH has one. A few years ago we were lucky to rent a house with land but the owner then subdivided and sold off so they are back on livery.

I too love reading through for sale ads to see what I would like - what I could afford is another thing lol.

I have just paid off a shed load of debt and want to create a savings pot until the end of the year but then next year I want to sort the mortgage out. I don't live in the house but its still over equity and still incurring interest - something I have learnt to hate over the last few years :D

Hi LAM, thanks for reading my rambles! i use looking at properties we hopefully will be able to consider in a couple of years time as motivation to spur us on in our savings to clear this mortgage/future plans ..

What are your future plans with the house you own?

I always had a horse from being a teenager. My last one i put on permanent loan with a small riding for the disabled group. We had an horrific accident in 2001, we were hit by a speeding car and he incurred a complete severing of his superficial digital tendon, and partial severing of his deep digital tendon on his foreleg, along with other injuries. After a massive operation to which i will always be grateful to Minster equine units fantastic horse specialist Graham Munroe for performing, and two years of me nursing him back to full health, i gradually brought him back to fitness. He unfortunately was not the same horse out in traffic ( and who could blame him), he was literally shaking with fear and i couldnt keep putting him through it. So i made the decision to semi retire him to be PAT horse, as he was so loving and friendly with people. He brought happiness to numerous terminally ill and disabled adults and children, and im sad to say was put to sleep in November 2013 due to his failing health. I dont regret making the decision to save him, he had a happy life and never had to go near traffic in his later home, the main reason i let him go there.

Im looking forward to owning a horse again in the future, it will have to be allround confidence giver for me, my days of challenging rides are behind me im afraid, i just want to enjoy happy hacking in the countryside.:)

You cant beat keeping your horse at home can you? thats the main thing i want from our future home, a little land of our own for our horse, and a few chickens.

OMG - that really is one of  moments. How horrific. Nice that he could help others though in the end. I agree Minster are great. They stopped treating my area last year (we are just out of their zone now) so I now use Equine Vet Practise. I hope I never have to go through what you went through.

I loved having my horses at home but missed having an arena as I like to dabble at shows (low level). I have seen the perfect bungalow with land and stables and a school that could be achievable so still hanging on to that dream. Our chickens (was 4 now 3) moved with us to our current house much to the amusement of our lovely pensioner neighbours. We bought this house as it had a larger than average garden!

My house is on consent to let with tenants in and I live with OH - the house we live in is a bit of a building project and having now been with him 10 years I am worried it will be forever a project! So secretly I would like to surprise him one day by suggesting that owning another house with land isn't such a bad idea :D So because my house is still on residential mortgage and over equity I need to deal with that next. I could kick myself when I see how much I have thrown away (debt) - it could have been in a property. But luckily I stumbled across this site and am slowly turning everything around. I am just thankful that I have managed to hang on to my horses and only this year had the funds to get out competing again.
