September already! not a lot happening with the mortgage now we have paid the full overpayments allowed for this year, any savings now going to emergency fund.
I plan to overpay 2026 overpayment allowance from the emergency funds in January, if finances allow.
The changable wet weather we are currently experiencing means im getting more days off which is a good thing really as iom ready for a break.
Ive had a good, busy spring and summer, the weather has been kind, and i have a basic winter wages pot fully funded so the pressure is off . Im turning into a squirrel, i cant settle until wages pot, fuel and animal feed is all stocked for winter!

My first week on reduced hours, and boy am i enjoying the extra free time and reduced pressure!
Ive decided to carry on overpaying, even though im over the allowance, as in my workings the ERC costs will be a lot less than interest payments, feel free to let me know if i have this wrong..

a soggy sunday meant i didnt work yesterday..
Its that quiet time of the month financially, ive started putting all income. wages. interest etc into one account over the month, then working my budget for the following month based on this and starting afresh on the 1st of each month.
Im finding this method works for me, all money allocated to the relevant sinking funds/bill account etc in one. Ive also started doing an individual budget for that month, as birthdays/fuel/animal feed costs etc differ over the year, so this makes it clearer to work out the extra outgoings for the coming month and allocating funds accordingly.
This morning im taking both my elderly parents for their flu and covid jabs, so i better get going and get my chunky horse put out in his field, and muck him out before setting off..current official end date of mortgage= 2037-aiming for 1st March 2029. mortgage balance start of challenge- 25/11/2016 £245,695 mortgage balance 17/10/25 - £97,000 2025 challenge- get mortgage balance to £95,000 by new years eve 2025, and a years outgoings in premium bonds after water system paid for

well the covid jab trip turned into an expensive day! discovered a completely flat tyre after coming out of the supermarket on the way home. Called hubby, no answer, called tyre company, no answer. i called a local taxi company, they dont go to our postcode apparently.. perils of rural living.. soo.. drove on flat to the tyre place 5 minutes away, needed new tyre at £129! they said i shouldnt have driven it flat, i did point out id been calling them for half an hour with no answer, the office guy was still eating when i got there, so i take it no one answers the phone at nosebag time!
Hubby had been outside with no phone cleaning the chickens out.. i did point out he needs to take his phone in case of emergency in future, lets hope thats last one for a while..
