I'm assuming the place you are in does not have great government services comparable with a developed country?
True, the infrastructure isn't fantastic, but I have seen far worse in other countries. (I'm actually in Trinidad at the moment).
The roads here are generally in a good state of repair, and to be honest, there are far less potholes than in many parts of the UK.0 -

so how far do you travel a year to save £8,000?
To save £8,000 you must be going quite a distance or be using a toll road daily.0 -
Just lost £1.00 as I got a 5p a litre coupon off and I will only use about 10 litres of petrol before it becomes out of date.
I really must buy a bigger car whose tank holds more than 30 litres.
Any small cars which have a petrol tank holding 100 litres or so?Getting forgetful, if you think I've asked this before I probably have. :rotfl:0 -

Taking all of the costs of running a car into account, £8000 wouldn't be that difficult a figure to arrive at, especially if dealer wins is fairly young or has a poor insurance profile.
Insurance for a newish driver or one who is a high risk for another reason can easily be a few £000, and if you then add on petrol, servicing, mot, VED, parking and depreciation, it soon starts adding up.0 -

Where I'm currently working, diesel is only about 14p per litre, and I bet both the gov't and the oil companies are still making a profit.
This is why Africa constantly rely on handouts from other countries, to provide their people with food and water. It doesn't take much imagination to realise this.0 -

I wasn't complaining about petrol going down in price, I was moaning that I had to put petrol in my car at the higher price and lost 60p.
You put far too much in. You should fill up like a f1 pit crew-just enough to get where your going. Think of all the wasted MPG you have carrying around excess fuel. Not to mention additiinal wear n tear on componets and tires.
Also if you were just topping enough then today you would have had a nice empty tank to fill0
