Hoping for a NSD. About time and all, only three so far, which means I've spent on the other twelve !!!
Oops ... Soothers on offer in Lloyds (two for 85p) when i went to hand in my prescription, so decided to take advantage with the cold weather coming in. A multi pack is more economical but we will only eat the cherry and blackcurrant flavour.
Definitely don't want to spend any more today!

Morning all,
have been lurking but not checking in too much. November's budget starts in 10 days and I am glad to say we are only £43 through my £80 target1
Hoping to buy a few bits today and then for that to be it until starting next month's budget.
Bf has decided that he will now pay for all meals out we have and will split take aways with me - if they are in the meal plan they are my responsibility and if they are his spur of the moment want he pays. Fine by me as I have purposely not budgeted for many in my attempts to get him eating better so knowing he has to pay is putting him off a bit more hehe.
Off to the shop today as we need:
wraps/small loaf of bread
pure orange juice
chicken, ham and cheese for sandwiches
lunch box biscuits/mini malt loaves
Pop for bf
lettuce
cottage cheese/soft cheese for me
digestives
grated carrots
couple of onions
Yorkshire puddings - wish I had a proper oven to make my own!
some quick and cheap emergency lunch supplies for me to keep at work (2x noodles, soft cheese, cheap cuppa soups, squash, biscuits) - I know this isn't the best way to d lunch but because sometimes I have to be in meetings etc over lunch it's not always easy to be able to bring/take a lunch and I need bits to graze on. Plus with cooler weather coming on so quick I want a little stash of warming snacks!
£38 left in the budget - so I will get the above today, we are at my parents for lunch on Saturday and then bf's parents are taking us out for tea. Bf is away a chunk of next week so just me to feed - will eat pretty basic stuff mostly I expect. May treat myself to some of those baked to perfection fish (bf hates the smell of fish but I need to eat more so nice excuse for a treat when he is absent!)
Also need to source some foil containers - I'm making my own homemade ready meals for when bf is away longer periods/after the birth for days I don't feel like cooking but want nice things. Ideas so far: chicken tonight (to go with rice), shepherds pie, lasagne, chile, soups (will get pour and store bags for those), need a good stew recipe, going to get my dad to make casserole for me to steal haha
That way it won't always be oven chips and chicken kiev/pizza/etc************************************

I'm amazed how everyone is managing this month, nearly everyone seems to be on or below target.
Unfortunately, I don't think I'll manage to stay within budget until the end of the month - I'll try, I really will try, but what started off as being a reasonable month with fridge, freezers and cupboards well stocked has turned into a farce, 'unexpected' people coming, all needing feeding, not being able to find too many useful YS items and frankly losing a little heart over scrimping and saving. mybe it's the weather!! but I will try.........0 -
Spent £1.87 this morning and am amazed at how well am doing so far this month. Half way through the month and am well under half way through the budget. (long may it last)
Tonight we will be having left over turkey stew with either mash or new potatoes - have both in but need to see which need using up first.
Have also just made some tomato soup using up the last of the home grown tomatoes.. To be honest it doesn't taste as nice as usual so may freeze it in small batches and use to add to other dishes i.e. chilli, bolognaise etc. Only problem is have very little room in freezer but am sure can squeeze some of it in at the least.MARCH £62.38/2500 -
Hello everyone
Well, after various disasters, this month has pretty much gone down the drain but thankfully I'm able to restart/carry on with challenge now!
As my budget is approx £10 a week, I'm going to declare a £20 spend for the first 2 weeks of the challenge and then work from yesterday as the start of week 3.
I will definitely go over budget this week as I spent a fortune yesterday and my fridge and cupboards are pretty bare but it will even itself out again next week so that's fine!
Yesterday my spends were £9.22 on loo roll, a bag of frozen sweetcorn, frozen salmon and frozen white fish. Used up some of the fish and sweetcorn with some leftover mash and some instant parsley sauce (already had it in the cupboard) and made enough fish pie for 4 meals (yesterday, today and 2 for the freezer) and of course there is plenty of fish and sweetcorn left over for later in the month
Right, I'm off to do a proper stocktake of what I have in so I can see exactly what bits I need to buy to make the maximum number of meals for as little extra spends as possible!:ADFW Nerd 145

Spent £45.04 on food today so have gone over my £60/week budget but I'm pleased. Morrisons had a 15% off day (for staff) so we stocked up. I spent more than £45 but the rest was on reduced clothes for my son, fireworks, saver stamps and a few other bits that I don't include in my food budget. Spent £68 it should have been almost £90
I'm knackered after doing such a big shop (and running after my toddler and also taking him for his nasal flu spray) that I'm having a very basic dinner, fish fingers and chips probably!Wife and mother :jGrocery budget
