Good evening everyone - welcome Gwen...
Glad to hear that you are all still busy fabbing away.
How was Fab Friday - I wore one of my new tops and received some nice compliments. OH is watching the footie - England so when I've had a little mooch round the "tinterweb" I shall get down on the floor and do some yoga.
This week I have been really naughty - as per my physio's instructions I might add. I was complaining how badly I was sleeping due to night sweats. Alas can no longer take HRT. Apparently it is not advisable once you have turned 60 because of the increased risk of breast cancer.
Unfortunately my night sweats have returned with a vengeance. Anyway my physio suggested that I try a mattress protector made of wool because my memory foam mattress was most likely the main culprit, because they trap the heat.
Anyway I did as she advised and I also lashed out and bought a new duvet which also has a filling made from wool to replace my synthetic one.
Result:D I am now sleeping much better. The best £100 I have ever spent.
I knew that natural fibres are better than synthetic but I had no idea that duvets and mattress protectors now came with fillings made from wool.
I am also upping the soya content of my diet to see if that helps, as well as taking a sage supplement.
I have been very good with the yoga, healthy eating and little rests when I feel I need one. It seems to be working because I am finally starting to feel brighter and less tired.
Like many of you I am working my way through my stash of toiletries and products. Like Maman I have been using Aldi products, I really like their body lotion and their anti aging serum. Cheap as chips so you can be generous with them. My skin is feeling good, my face certainly looks less strained and haggard.
PS - Pod - fab news - both about your new boss and the book. You have worked hard and deserve your success. Keeping my finger crossed for you - hope it's a blockbuster.!!!!
Weather has definitely turned here so have started layering up.....;)0 -
Pleased to say I've done my promised pampering for today. Had a lovely, long shower, defuzzed and creamed all over then blowdried my hair.
When I've stopped faffing about on here I'm going to have a sort out of my make up. It's been long overdue. I want to start using things up as well as reminding myself what I've got exactly!
Hope you're all having a good Saturday. Chilly but bright here.:)0 -
Hello Everyone
Very quiet on here - hope you are all busy fabbing.
Not much news here. Have been catching up with myself - daily exercise, daily fabbing, sorting out paperwork, stocking up the freezer and food cupboards.
Finally got round to buying some new underwear.....
Oh the excitement. :rotfl:0 -

I've been in hiding, had some personal stuff going on
Not quite feeling back to my old self but better than I was.
Can't say there has been much fabbing but I have kept ontop of the facial brushing. Definitely think it's made a difference to my skin
Sorry not replying individually but just wanted to let you know I haven't completely disappeared off the face of the planet.I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Hello!
Thank you for the welcomeI've only skimmed all the other posts so far, but will go back and reply. I've got so many health/beauty things I want to improve. I get really bad PMS and period pain and I've been going for acupuncture for that now for a few weeks - not sure if it's helping, maybe a little soon to tell? If anybody else has any experience of acupuncture especially for 'women's problems', please let me know how it went.
Otherwise I have a toenail infection I'm trying to get rid of and I have some IBS type symptoms that I'm trying to sort out. I'd love to lose some weight, but at the moment I think the focus has to be on improving my health first and foremost. I've been reading a lot about how bad sugar is for you and can provide a great environment for bugs and causes inflammation in the body. I've also been recording my eating on myfitnesspal and I was pretty shocked at how much sugar I consume. Mainly in snacks and cereal bars, so I'm going to be looking at eating better meals - I do eat a lot of 'snacky' food and looking for low sugar snacks - any ideas appreciated. Also, I'm going to be trying to eat more vegetables.
I also want to make sure I'm getting a good nights sleep. I have a habit of staying on the laptop too late - tell me off! So I need to get off it, read a book and relax before bed.
Then there's beauty related things. I want to improve my skin. I recently moved for work and the hard water down south has made my hair go crazy.
I think that's enough for now!
GxThough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -

I've used it in the past and just put it all through my hair, piled hair up on head, left on like a hair treatment, then shampooed it off. I think I might have had to do two shampoos...it's been a long time...see how your hair feels after one.

Just a quickie....oo er!
Bitsy hope you are ok. xx
Busy busy busy here sadly not with paid work but OU study, son moving house and trying to declutter some junk.
Do need to be careful with my eating as the weather gets colder and the fabbing could do with being better but still doing the basics. Am thinking of treating myself to a facial/ manicure or maybe both at the local college. Students practice on you for a small fee - had my hair coloured there once. I've never had anything like this and it's the only way I ever will. I'm going to use a bit of money I still have from my birthday.

The snacky foods probably aren't helping the IBS either - if you start to have regular meals then you should see an improvement in it0 -

Sorry to hear no paid work has materialised yet lizzie, but doesn't sound as if you've much time for it anyway! I think it's a great idea to have the treatments at the local college. I don't know if they do the shellac nail polish thing but I'm so impressed with mine (thanks to Groupon). It's two weeks today and my nails still look fantastic. I went for French manicure so growth at the base isn't obvious as it might be with a dark colour.
:wave:gwen. Losing weight was my priority when I first started posting on here and I did it with Slimming World: my one and only 'diet' so I'm a big fan.:D I try not to snack whenever possible but if I fancy something in the evening my current favourite is a couple of tbsps. of low fat cottage cheese with a chopped apple stirred in, then eat it with a spoon. I have been known to attack a jar of pickled beetroot with a spoon too!;) I don't have a sweet tooth but those that do recommend sugar free jelly or low fat yogurts like Muller lights.
I'm feeling anything like fab Friday today. I suppose I look smart enough but my hair is definitely at 'rats' tails' stage and desperately needs cutting. Treated myself to a new pair of jeans in Sainsbury's today. I'm delighted with the dark navy ones from there so now I've got black too.
Have a good weekend all.:)0
