I love red lipstick!!! - although tbh I haven't worn a full on "red" myself in recent years. Maybe I should give it a whirl. I think it's a great idea to keep trying new things - especially if you can grab a bargain. Trying out new things keeps you young ........It's only too easy to get stuck in a rut and look "dated".

The lady who served me at the check out today was a classic example, she was around mid 40's and very attractive. She had a lovely haircut but her make up was very 80's and didn't really suit her. She needed softer eye make up and her pale lipstick drained the colour from her face. A few tweaks and she would have looked really gorgeous.

Well the move went very smoothly, everything unpacked, curtains up, new lampshades in place, pictures hung. Just need to buy a few accessories for a final fluff. And....... joy of joys I have two fitted wardrobes, no more bag lady.

I filled a bin bag full of clothes I no longer want, some for the Charity Shops and the really tatty stuff will be used to stuff a couple of sausage draught excluders - very MSE...

I have restocked my store cupboard, fridge and freezer so let the healthy eating begin. Time to get serious, lose weight and get fit. Also time to buy some new clothes.

Sainsbugs have their 25% of TU clothing this weekend and I have a £14 voucher to spend so might pop along on Sunday. I did buy a pair of jeans from Asda today, so have made a start on the Autumn/Winter wardrobe. I even bought a couple of Christmas presents yesterday.......I am determined to get organised this year and not have a last minute rush.

I have worked myself to a standstill this last couple of weeks but I intend to start the walking regime tomorrow. TV & DVD player set up, so will be able to use my yoga and Tai Chi DVD's again. I need to get the boys to set up the WII and then I can have a go at some of the exercises on there.

Have managed a bit of TLC and a mini manicure today, but need to pay some serious attention to my general fabbing - the routines have taken a bit of a back seat this last few weeks.

    Time to focus on me.:rotfl:

    Hi all,

Welcome to all the newbies. Just try and focus on small steps and soon things will start becoming habit.

LL - great news on the move going so well, sounds like it will make live easier for you so can have more time to concentrate on the things you want to x

Been quite a busy week and weekend looks like it's going the same way. Me and OH are filming at a wedding tomorrow so hopefully that will go ok. Still enjoying the freelance work, and have some very exciting writing news. I'm not allowed to make it 'public' yet (which is slightly killing me as I'm dying to tell everyone!) but promise will share next week if people are interested :p
Fabbing wise have been making more effort with my skin routine and do think it looks a bit better for it. Going to try and paint my nails this weekend - not done them in a while.

Anyway, just a quick one tonight so better go. Hope everyone is well (anyone seen WW lately?) Night x

Great to hear you sounding so positive LL. Delighted to hear that the move went well and that you're settled in your new home.

I'm still keeping up with all the fab routines and I know I owe it all to you and this great thread that you started. I've still kept to my target weight and feel great for it. SW is my friend!!

Today I've been out for lunch and was told I looked 'very French'. I took it as a compliment but think it was partly to do with the stripy, blue and white Breton style top!:rotfl:

I have treated myself a bit in the last couple of weeks but all to things I knew were missing from my wardrobe:
    • fleece type jacket by Bench in a purple colour
    • Puffa parka, well padded and at least showerproof
    • 2 new bras
    • new socks
All the above came from TK Maxx so very mse. I'm also having frequent trips browsing the charity shops so have a few good buys from there.

It's a very in between time of the year. All traces of my summer tan have gone from my face:( although still plenty on arms and legs. I've been using bronzer but still not used any foundation to give me a bit of colour. Trying to cope with 'between seasons' dressing. I know I could do with some more tops (seem not to have much between vests/camisoles and jumpers) but trying to avoid buying as jumper season must be just round the corner.

I need to settle on a 'look' for the coming autumn/winter season. Where do we all get ideas from?

i get my ideas (very stereotypically) from the glossy magazines but my look vary rarely changes dramatically and is usually perpetually winter :rotfl: i just don't get along with bright summer colours and summer clothes, im much more happier in my winter things.

i just look and take the bits of the latest trends that i know i can pull off or are simple updates.

i havent done a good red lip in while though! i may have to pull one out this week!
  • Well my nighttime routine has improved. I've finally finished a night cream that's been open a while. So onto the next one. This helps with my declutter challenge too. So I only have/use items I love.

Walking a bit more too. And as a result I'm hearing less creaks and cracks in my joints.

  • Can I join in?? This thread is just what I need right now.....have been wanting to address some issues & this thread seems ideal. The main things I want to work on are:

Losing 8lbs - I'm not overweight by any means, but would like to get back to 9st. Intend to cut out all snacks & have smaller portions.
Exercise 3 times per week to feel fitter! Did couch to 5k last year, but never been able to get back into it.....will be trying to do a mixture of running & home exercise.
Look after my skin......need to buy some more night cream & make sure I use it every night;)
Sort out my wardrobe!!! I've made a start by trying to organise a 'work' wardrobe....rather than struggling to think of what to wear every day & using my 'out of work' clothes to wear at work:mad:

So that's me......just had bran flakes for breakfast & will check in later to say how the rest of the day has gone!

Lou, can you cut down gradually rather than stopping altogether, and replace it with something else? I don't like plain water, so I have either Morrisons apple & elderflower squash or Asda peach & white grape (sweeter), they just flavour it enough for me. I also drink grape juice rather than orange, as I prefer the taste :p

i have been alternating coke with tea. some days i can easily not drink any but others (like today) i need lots of it...
i think it doesnt help i dont sleep and need the caffiene etc to keep me going. some days coke alone isnt enough and i need to revert to red bull :o catch 22 really as i know they wont help me sleep but with 2 little ones to run around after what do i do?

anyway still carrying on with taking longer walk to and fro school. trying to pluck up the courage to get a new hair style but dont really have the confidence too. i am worrying it wont suit me and i'll look ridiculous :o

  • Fantastic thread you have here and I am joining in! I often spend so little time on myself, but this needs to change into 'more time for me.' It is the little things in life that make me feel good, paint my nails / toe nails, slap on a little bit of make-up and a spray of perfume!

Sorry but I don't get to post that often.

I'm still keeping up with virtually all the fabbing habits that we put in place a couple of threads ago. Best of all is that since I lost the weight that was making me feel so frumpy and I've kept it off!!

What I wanted to share is that I've discovered lovely beauty treats on Groupon. This Friday I have a three hour package for (IIRC) £28. It's a massage, facial plus manicure and pedicure. I know some of you would find that extravagant or would prefer to do HM treatments but it's something to think about for a treat.

I find time of year really difficult when it comes to how to dress smartly. It's getting too cold and grey for summery stuff but I'm loathe to sink into winter things. How does everyone else manage?
