Frugal Frump to Fabulous - autumn equinox to winter solstice

...... I find time of year really difficult when it comes to how to dress smartly. It's getting too cold and grey for summery stuff but I'm loathe to sink into winter things. How does everyone else manage?
Layers! I am back in my winter shift dresses, currently with little carries over them, but as the weather cools I put long sleeve t-shirts under, then polo necks. If the chills get too bad, the cardi goes on top again. The opaque tights are out, with patent lace-up heels, but no boots yet0 -
Hi all,
Maman - your beauty treats sound lovely, and why not?I do think you can get some good bargins on Groupon - Living Social is another one that often has some cheap deals. Clothes-wise, I'm with Floss and like my layers. So brighter tops but with either cardis on top or something like a tunicy top over a thin jumper/turtleneck. I also like more jewel colours going into winter (deep purples, blues, reds etc) - not 'summery' but still feels a bit brighter. Was also thinking might dig the opaques out this week.
Anyways - I said I had news, so here we go! I entered a writing competition last month for a big publisher with the prize being a publishing contract with them. I'm now one of the top 3 finalists! Am so excited about it :j The next stage is now down to a public vote. Hopefully this isn't breaking any forum rules but the link is here if anyone would like a look:

I'm number 1 on the list - so if you like it then every vote helps!
Hope everyone is having a good week x0 -

My night time routine is much improved. Using night cream, hand cream etc. Skin not looking much better yet but persistence will pay off. Think I need to up the flossing a bit too as well as cleaning my teeth at night. My teeth are in pretty bad shape at the moment.
Not booked my facial yetEach day I think we'll if I do all these things then I can book it as a treat. But never get round to booking it though.

And thrice WOW!!! pod. I'm full of admiration for how you keep going on your writing and photography, supporting your OH with his work and then manage to work as well! You're a star!!!:)
mineallmine, you're fabbing routines seem to take in all the things I neglect.:( I've got a pot of nightcream (bought by mistake 'cos I thought it was daycream) in the cupboard, never even opened. I'm so lazy when it comes to a night routine. Must do better! Thanks for the nudge.
The great thing about Groupon is that once you sign up all your details are saved so it's really easy to buy things. Obviously you need to be very disciplined but if you spend time on mse I'm sure you know how to just buy things you really want/need and not just indulge in retail therapy. The other good thing is that most offers are on sale for several days so you don't need to make an instant decision. Sign up for the town/city you live in and you'll get all the local beauty/hair offers.0 -
Morning ladies and the lurking gents
I am keeping up with the dry skin brushing. Not seeing any significant improvements but it's a long term thing at any rate.
Ate far too much unnecessary crap whilst my parents came down to visit (it was DS's birthday so cake and pizza was scoffed in excess) so it's back to basics and stop feeding my face.
Going to get my house work done and then break out the yoga mat for 20 mins. A little bit is going to be better than nothing.
Can't keep living in coffee but confess I hate the water down herethe smell of it is horrible so have invested in a water filter so I shall have to drink that stuff instead
PP wow well done, how do you manage to fit it all in?!
Twisted cherry and pink fuzz welcome
Hugs and high fives all round xxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks

Good luck Podperson, I placed my vote for you.
Another week just flew by and here I am again after getting myself buffed up and prepared for fab Friday. I have picked up with C25k again this week and been out for 30 minute run/ walk this evening.
I have also done the face mask, body scrub and all that jazz in the shower, followed by a good coating of S&G Easy Glistening that I have had in the cupboard for more than three years. I had been afraid to use it thinking it was shimmery or glittery but pleasantly surprised to find that it's not.
I cant decide what I will wear and am over it too with my available wardrobe choices. I'm so fed up with wearing the same boots and wintery things.
Amazingly my nails are still looking good after last weeks manicure.
Happy Friday everyone.Mortgage

Good morning all
PP - WOW from me too. Fantastic news, well done. You really do deserve your success, you've put so much effort in - it had to pay off in the end...
Just goes to show, as the saying goes "Persistence Pays Off";) Anyway - keeping everything crossed for you.
Maman - definitely agree with the layers. I went shopping this week and bought some separates, jeans, tops, cardies. I too have gone jor jewel colours, reds, purples, deep blues. I even bought a pair of jeggings to go under a couple of knitted mini dresses - get me in a mini dress!. Still if Joanna Lumley can do it then so can I. (She wears a bright blue one on a TV Ad).
The Groupon treats sound great;)
Getting nicely settled in, feels very strange living alone again after all these years. Going to pop in to Dunhelm today to pick up a few bits. Physio today too.
Winter is coming.......0 -

Hello
Can I join in? I'm trying to improve my health/appearance and organisation the the moment, so it seems like a great place to start.
GxThough no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0
