Sound like someone in Manchester is bored and looking to create a bit of a stink on the pets Board.

my Staffi Anni loved a good rough play with me - and she accidently caught her tooth right up my nose and the nosebleed was horrendous - it was literally gushing out! poor thing went and hid! it wasn't her fault - she was playing and it was an ACCIDENT! if your OH was playing rugby and he got a black eye would he insist the other player got sent off? He would be laughed out of town!

What a wuss! sorry, but it has to be said that if you play rough don't complain if one of you gets hurt!

I am not usually an 'animal over people' person - but, in this case I think it highlights a huge flaw in your partners personality. I too would keep the dog and if partner didn't like it - Tough!
  • I honestly am not trying to "create" anything I just thought that by posting on here someone may have been able to help me.

My ex partner "loved" my two staffies, until a particular night when one of them had been spooked with fireworks and trashed the kitchen!!He had to go before he harmed my dogs:mad::mad::mad:

seems to me the poor Doggie would be better off ditching you both. Having had the poor thing since he was 8 weeks old and you want rid of him.
Shame on you is all I can say.
RIP TJ. You my be gone, but never forgotten. Always in our hearts xxx
He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion.
  • If this is a serious post then please try and get the dog rehomed with a reputable rescue centre or ask at your vet to advertise on their bulletin board and someone sensible might want to take him.

I have a Jack Russell and they are a handful but a lot of older people seem to like them so maybe a retired person would be interested. My dog gets fawned over when I take her on the bus during the day when it is filled with retired older people.
  • Don't advertise pup anywhere for free, especially not on gumtree etc.
Try and do a homecheck if possible on whoever takes him, or at least as much of a thorough interview of them as you can.
Try local rescues and shelters, although spaces are hard to come by.
Maybe see if a rescue could have him on their 'books' but let him stay living with you until they can find him a home.
I hope if your partner wants him PTS that he is willing to pay the bill, it isn't cheap. You may also struggle to find a vet that agrees to do it too, they don't tend to be over the moon at putting healthy dogs down on the whim of their owner.

I hope you find a loving home for him, someone who will give him a forever home
  • Jack Russell's are very well known for being a lively breed. I can only imagine your OH was winding him up and therefore thoroughly deserves the nick he got!!!!!

OH should be the one to go!

None of the vets round here would put down a healthy dog without very good reason. What Audicardriver describes would not count as a good reason.

We got one of our dogs because his owner had tried to get our vet to kill the dog. We had a similar dog and the vet nurse asked if we could take on another one. He was a wonderful little dog and we had many happy years with him.
  • Thanks for the replies I would like to stress that I care greatly about the dogs welfare and I would ensure that any new owner is suitable and no way would I let him go if I thought the prospective owner was unsuitable. I do not want to let him go and am desperate to keep him as he is part of the family I plan to ask at our vet on Monday if they know of anyone and I also plan on asking around all my friends and family tomorrow.
