It does seem extremely harsh to insist you get rid of the dog.Have you been together all the time you have had the dog? Does he not realise it is as much his fault that the dog accidentally caught his face? Is there any chance he will calm down and change his mind.?
if not then you realy have to think long and hard about this because i think you will end up resenting him.I know I and many others here would too.He is not being fair at all making you do this.0 -
What a Kn0b he is for playing roughly with a dog, and putting his face in the way!!Seems like he's testing you , and is jealous of the poor dog!I'd get rid of him first

I would want to keep the dog, he is hard work as he has like most terriers got a mind of his own but as I work full time I don't know if I could cope with the dog on my own or if it would be fair to the dog as he adores my partner. We have had the dog since he was 8 weeks old and until today I would have said that we both adore the dog.0

Got to agree with everyone else, you can't play rough with a dog then moan when they accidentally catch you!The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0

Personally I'd suggest your partner takes a look at himself and his relationship to you before making you give up something you so clearly love. Sorry to be harsh but if he really thinks PTS is an option, especially when he seems to have made this decision in a heartbeat and without taking into consideration your point of view, then how will he solve other problems that will inevitably come his way? I'm glad he's your partner rather than mine.0

Then point out to your partner that no way did he mean to hurt him,as he clearly adores him.If you rehome him the poor dog will be utterly bewildered at being deprived of the only people he has known since a puppy. You won't find it easy to rehome a jack russell,as you say they are quite wilful and excitable.
Give your partner time to calm down and hope he only said that in the heat of the moment.0
