I am learning so many new things (basically stuff that I thought I knew but I was wrong). It turns out that squirrels do not actually hibernate and now matt has told me that he still has ducks!!
Currently have six spend-free days and away on to night shifts so should hopefully get a few more.
Putting in all the hours must be so difficult but the rewards will be so much greater feeling and you will achieve your goals quicker fmess.
Hugs.
Hope you course is going well and you are studying hard matt.
See you all tomorrow for another exciting day. Should get the credit card statement tomorrow. I hope it is good news.

I hope your credit card statement was as you had hoped Stewby,
I am trying to get hold of my car insurance company, a stone flew up and chipped my windscreen on my way to college today:mad::mad:.. I hope they can repair it otherwise my excess goes up from £25 to £65 which I can't afford at all this month!
I hope you are all having a better day

Credit card statement came in... the £600 hasn't really made much of a dent however I have spent money on the card (I can explain).
I paid for my house insurance for the year (about £180 I think) and we bought the wedding present online which came to £110.
http://www.notonthehighstreet.com/bombus/product/mini-bespoke-map-heart
It's this but with the location of their wedding, their names and a nice off-white frame. I know it's a lot of money but OH is their best man so I thought we should get them a nice present.
But we have gone from £4,600 (approx) to £4,330. So it is an improvement. I am hoping to pay off £500 this month as I have worked mainly nightshifts (which should up my wages a bit) and there is no council tax this month. Also OH pays his £200 contribution. So it should be doable. Hopefully.
Currently we have about two inches of snow and it is still falling thick and fast... which is awesome as I don't have to go to work for 8 days and we have heaps of food in the house. I have no intention of leaving which means lots of spend-free days heading our way.
How is the course going matt?? I hope you got your windscreen sorted and it didn't cost too much.
I am trying to figure out if you have exams soon but I can't remember.
:embarasse
Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm.

I really like that heart map - might even get one for my friends who are getting married in summer.
If the insurance was cheaper to pay at once on the card than monthly then it was worth while.
Enjoy the snow, we have lots of rain and wind at the moment, I got a swim in this morning and planned a run this afternoon but possibly should have done it the other way around - I think running inthe wind and rain would have been more like swimming! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

One of my old work colleagues showed me it (I had never been on the website before) and the bride loves crafty sort of stuff so I immediately thought she would love it.
Yeah, not by much but as other people say... every penny is a prisoner. Better in my pocket than someone else's.
How are you doing scuby. Is everything sorted at home?? Has you nana gotten settled in okay??
:undecided
You sound crazy... running in this weather?? (I assume you are having storms like the rest of us). You have a lot of dedication to keeping fit. Are you planning to do a triathlon?? One of my friends does tough mudders which horrifys me even looking at it.

Nana is in the moodswing mode at the moment, one minute so loves the place the next she hates it and we're cruel for throwing her out of 'her' (mums) home.
Crazy about covers it, I went out thinking the rain had eased off, I was wrong. Not been too windy here today, Wednesday was a nightmare though. No not training for a Tri, despite my Omani friends best attempts, but I'm doing the Sport Relief Swim and Run at the end of March and then the Manchester Great Swim in July.
My Canadian friend did one of the Tough Mudder events last year, insane woman, doesn't appeal to me at all, although the obstacles do resemble the conditions on my local running routes at the moment! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hi Stewby and Scuba angel
I hope you are okay and not suffering from storm damage.
It was really windy here last night, I think it was the windiest it has been since the Christmas storms, but not as much rain as they had forecast so hopefully some of the flooding might start to recede and roads open again.
The wind damaged our back fence last night so a trip to b&q this morning for brackets and screws to hold it together until I can do a proper repair there.
Back to work tomorrow, looks like being a long journey of replacement busses, bad enough travelling by train on a Sunday butwith extra disruption from landslides and flooding could be a difficult journey.
The course has finished now but no time to sit the exam so I have to arrange to do it when I get home from work in mid March, not ideal because there won't be time at work to do much revision but I will just have to try, then study hard when I get home.
I hope you are having a nice weekend and have a good leave period too

Hey all.
Aw scuby. I hope you survived your run and swim. What's the Manchester Great Swim thing?? It sounds interesting. Is it like the marathon?? (I think the great north run is in Manchester... might be Newcastle).
I hope your nana gets used to her new home soon. It really is the best thing for your mum and you, and eventually your nana might realise it too.
Hugs.
Hello Matt. Have a good time at work... I always think it's great when someone loves their job. I am sure your exam will go great... I often believe if you are meant to do something then you will get there. Keep your chin up. Maybe your work will let you have some downtime.
So today, we counted up all our savings and we have:
£444.40 in our holiday pot.
£118.00 in our christmas fund.
£2.66 in our camperbug (all 5, 2 + 1 pences).
£148.50 in our giant coke bottle. (all 10 pences).
I am feeling quite proud of us. The savings are for xmas 2014 and our holidays in 2015. I have no idea what we are doing with the camperbug. The 10 pences are going to be kept until the government declares a national shortage... or until we reach the very top. Whatever happens first.
Only 4 days until my birthday and I am kinda dreading it a little. I am still really immature for my age and have no inkling of time to act my age or anything.
To be honest, I am a bit concerned by my lack of maturity. We have been talking about maybe adopting kids someday but I can't see it. I love the idea of giving someone a loving household but am I ever going to be mature enough to be responsible for another life... I can barely keep fish alive for longer than six months.
Anyways, that is not a financial issue and you never know, I might suddenly change when I hit 30. (although I didn't for 13, 16, 18, 21 or 25 which are supposed to be big steps in your life).
Spend-free day number 10 today so only 5 more to go!!
:j
We were going to go to the farmers market today but we had a duvet day instead (due to the snow which has now all gone). So we have to wait until next month to go exploring which is probably a good thing as OH wants to try partrige!!
Hope everyone is keeping well and I will "see" you all soon.

Great North Run is the marathon/half marathon in Newcastle, the swim is part of the Great Swim series, and is *just* a 1 mile open water swim, the Manchester one is in Salford Quays just off the Manc Ship Canal. There are other swims, London, Windermere and Loch Lomond that I can remember off the top of my head.
Nana's had a good day today, told my Aunt that she loves the place and the people, of course we fully expect tomorrow she'll have gone to the other extreme, but hopefully she'll start to settle properly this week.
I wouldn't worry too much about the maturity thing - I studied Marine Biology and can't keep supposedly long lived fish alive for long - but if you do find yourself caring for a child then you'll be amazed at how much of it comes naturally despite your own perception of your being quite immature. Plus look at the difference in you now to how it was even last year pre financial lightbulb.
If you do try Partridge don't forget there might be some shot still in it, I've usually enjoyed it when I've had it but wouldn't think to buy it to eat at home. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Trust me, I won't need to worry about any shot. I will warn the OH though. Thanks scuby.
The reason for posting is a stupid one. I have a friend who has some photos of places he has been to visit.
A few of the pictures were of a place called Blencowe Hall and it looks stunning. Plus you can hire the whole thing and it holds 24 people... erm, I think we have just found our wedding venue.

It's just gorgeous and I have fallen in love with it.
:happyhear
OH thinks it is alright.
:rotfl:
Spend-free day number 11 today.
However, I am now too busy pestering OH about the wedding plans and the venue and where people will sleep and all that fun stuff.
Need to figure out a new cake design as a loch ness monster won't work in England.
A ONE MILE swim in open water... you have to be doing that for charity are you?? It couldn't be one of those "fun day out" things.
Good luck with the preperation and the completion of it scuby.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91
