Yay for having the holiday booked.
And well done for OH picking up on the no doubt subtle clues that you were mildly peeved about his feet dragging meaning you'd missed it first time around. I'll put the shovel and tarps away again.
It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hey madchickenlady. Welcome to the chaos that is my diary.
OH does now have a job but because I want him to save lots of money towards his loan, I am not splitting the bills equally. However, he is paying £200 towards everything and seeing as I could afford to survive before he came on the go, the money is very useful for paying off my credit card.
In order to change my credit card, we would have to change it into my name only and my dad would have no control of it (which isn't the best idea as he paid the payments whilst I was "unwell"). Which is why I owe my parents money as well.
:embarasse
You weren't being blunt at all and I am grateful for all the advice and suggestions I receive.
Currently, we are doing two savings pots.
One is the £1 a day challenge which me and OH are both contributing to. We currently have £118 in there. The plan is to use this money for xmas 2014 (it will be the first xmas in years where I won't have used the credit card).
The second one is the weekly challenge where you put in the week number in the pot. We are going backwards so currently have £435.40 in the pot. (It should be less but we are fining ourselves a fiver if we take money out).
The annoying thing about the holiday is that we are the only people in the group staying in the same hotel as the bride and groom (apparently). So we could have stayed elsewhere.
However, I don't actually mind as I know OH is going to have a great time and his friend is going to have someone to play around with which makes me very happy.
Thank you for your advice madchickenlady... the plan is for the credit card to be cut up. We will keep OH's one but that is only to use as a security thing (holidays, online shopping) and we will only spend what we already have saved. Hence the pots.
Hope to hear more about your mse journey.

Hey Matt and Scuby. Hope things are calming down for you both.
I'm afraid I am guilty of having not been on your diary for a while scubaangel. I hope you and your mum are still coping okay and that you nana is a bit more comfortable now.
Hugs.
Good news about your tax code... will they give you money back?? I am glad to hear your move went well and that you are doing great in college. I believe it is better to struggle with academic stuff as you get a bigger sense of achievement afterwards. As I have said to OH many times... if it all got handed to you, would it be so amazing or would you just take it for granted. Not suggesting that you would, it's just from personal experience.

So... savings pots are filled for February. It is really quite addictive, I want to add more money to it already.
I am most excited about the holiday pot as I have never paid for a whole holiday outright before we have gone. I am hoping to try and afford New York in 2015. Yep, still dreaming about New York.
:embarasse
Must admit scuby... when he asked if we were taking the ring to Barcelona, I almost throttled him.
Family are now talking about my 30th... and what to get me. Money is not an option, unfortunately. However, I have fallen in love with the idea of saving our travel money pot in this, so have suggested it as a present:

I hope everyone is having a good few days. I am still counting my lucky stars that I moved jobs when I did. It was the smartest move I have ever made. Enjoy the next few days guys and gals, only four more days until the weekend.

That globe piggy bank looks really nice, I would like one of those! I have been seeing globes in the shops and thinking it would be nice to have one on my desk now there is space in our new house, but they were all quite expensive.
I don't think I will get a refund because I did owe them the money this year, I had worked jobs where no tax was deducted on PAYE, so I had to pay it through extra tax this year. But at least that's finished now and I have calculated that, everything else remaining equal, I should be around £291 a month better off from April. That will be a big help to the aim of getting debt free this year because I will set up a standing order to transfer the money every payday. I have been used to not having it, so I shouldn't miss it hopefully!
I hope you had a good day today.

Things at home are ok, we're cautiously optimistic that we've found a care home for her that she can move in to in a couple of weeks. Her two weeks in the respite home were a nightmare, but it was just too big and she was oly a temporary resident so she hated it. But she seems to like the look of the place we're hoping she's going in to although she keeps saying we're not going to visit and she doesn't want to be abandoned.
I really like that globe, so much classier looking than any of my money boxes! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Evening everybody.
Work is still going great. Have had a few emergencies and have managed well with them. My instincts are still as good as before, the only difference is that I use them more.
Got an extra shift booked for Saturday so looking forward to that.
I think we are doing okay moneywise... but we will soon find out when it reaches closer to the end of the month.
Wow, argomatt!! I would love to get about £300 extra a month.
I know life isn't all about money but I would love to be comfortably well off.

Glad to hear about the nursing home scuby. I hope the move all goes smoothly for you.
Are you still tutoring all hours of the day fmess??
In OH news... a friend of his work colleague has told him a scottish airline (one that OH has liked right from the word go) is looking for pilots and they have sent him the email address for HR so we sent off his covering letter, email and CV in the hope of maybe a nice pilot-y job. At least it is a step in the right direction.
:j
Busy planning Barcelona. It's going to be awesome. I am so excited!!Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

Fingers crossed that he at least gets a reply from the airline people, getting your name known seems to be half the battle in that industry.
Even better news that your instincts are still good at work, hope you have a good shift on Saturday.
Things with Nana seem to have suddenly jumped forward, Mum's been told that she should be able to move in to the home this Monday, we expected it was going to be a couple of weeks yet so this weekends going to have to tough while we try to explain it to her. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

How's the holiday planning going? I think I enjoy reading travel books and websites and planning trips almost as much as going on them!
I hope you hear about the pilot job soon, fingers crossed for your OH
What's everyone up to this weekend? Went for a short walk to feed the ducks in the gap between the showers this afternoon, for a break from the studying!

Hi stewby
Fingers crossed for OH and making links in with that company!
Yes I am still tutoring, it is keeping me very busy. This evening is my first evening since last Saturday that I get to stay in the house and put my feet up. I am knackered but trying to get the debt down as much as possible.
Today I have been to a class at the gym, visited a friend, did the shopping, walked the dogs and cleaned the house.
Hope you have all had a restful day, good luck for your shiftLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
