    Evening stewby

Don't stress too much, there are some months where it us much harder to make ends meet. My MOT and car service at the end of October really mucked me up but it was all sorted by the next month and pay packet.

I have noticed that I stress about money a lot more now I am financially aware too but that's probably because we were both burying our heads in the sand before.

Keep going you are doing really well!

    Hey trix-a-belle and fmess.

Sorry for the downer, I am just feeling so rotten and disheartened by it all.

I think fmess, you are right about us just being more aware of it now rather than burying our heads in the sand. I am just so disappointed cause out of the £450 spare I have had in the past few months, none of it has gone on debt.
I feel awful cause everyone else seems to be making progress and I just don't seem to be getting anywhere.

That's the stupid thing trix-a-belle and why I am kicking myself. I told my OH to just give me £100 housekeeping from his wages each month and to save the rest.
Then when we were driving down south last night he made a joke about earning more than that in a day. Now, I feel like I should have made him pay more. I feel like a bit of a fool.
Part of me is tempted to ask him if he would pay £200 a month instead and then that would cover the credit card payments.
I know I was the one who said £100 but then in fairness, the holiday to Kos (which is £2000 of the credit card debt) is his as well as mine. (Had to have the holiday as it is for a wedding).
But the other part of me is thinking that the whole idea of him just paying £100 was because I wanted him to save money to pay back his bond and to pay for his flying. I just don't know what to do.

Sorry. I feel so stupid feeling so miserable and bleurgh about this... but i was just hoping to have actually achieved something each month. I know it's going to be a long journey but to not actually get anywhere is soul destroying.

Oh dear... I will be more positive tomorrow. Hopefully.

  • Maybe this is the point to do a joint soa & knuckle down into it all together? He needs to save for his bond but you shouldn't be landed with 100% of all the bills & holiday debt either, maybe take a couple of days & look at the full picture of all the figures & then sit down & discuss with him :)

Well... I spoke to OH this morning after a rubbish nights sleep. Was still feeling really rubbish and just meh.

I explained that I wanted to pay off the credit card and if he gave me £200 instead of £100, we could pay £400 a month and get rid of the card within a year. He has agreed!!
    :j

    So... the plan is:
    £100 from budget account.
    £100 from main account.
    £200 from OH's account.
TOTAL: £400 off card each month.

My dad will still be in charge of the main account and the plan is that he will take back what he can when he can in order to pay off the money I have borrowed from him (£700).
    :undecided

So, that takes care of the credit card and bank of mum and dad. Hopefully.
    :o

In today's news, I have absolutely decimated my budget account this month. £300 gone in three days... However, I have filled the car with petrol, bought food (hopefully to last the month) and finished buying the xmas pressies.
    I have £12 left.
    :(

On the plus side, it means that I am garunteed to gain my 15 spend-free days.
    ;)

    Hey trix-a-belle.
The plan is to let OH get a permanent pilot job and then we are going to sort out our finances jointly.
Our worry is that if we combine too early and his temporary job ends and he defaults on his bond, they might try to take our house to get payment.
As a result, we are waiting until he gets a permanent job.
    :undecided

So... feeling a wee bit more positive today compared to yesterday. Have a better plan in place and know what I want to do.

Spoke to my Dad just now and he has said that they can wait for their money so if there is £150 left at the end of the month, he might pay £550 off the card and get it finished faster. So... fingers crossed.
    :)

Hope everyone else is doing okay?? Sorry for my wobble. Yesterday was just heartbreaking for me as I had been trying so hard and just seemed to be going backwards.
    Hugs.

Don't worry about wobbles, its tough realising your have finances to sort out and then when it doesnt seem to be working how you want after the realisation it feels horrid. At the moment I'm feeling permanently worried about it but I know that once I'm working I can knuckle down and make progress for the time being I'm just happy if the debt goes up by less than £100 each month. ;)

Other than finances things here are ok, Nana's had a bad day, she doesn't remember her carers coming at all and keeps shouting at us that we don't care about her and keep sending them away. So me and Mum were sent out for a walk in to the village so we've booked ourselves appointments tomorrow to get our hair done - we were going to go for facials as well but there were no appointments left.

Hope the budget holds out this month with the SFD's.

Anyways... I don't know why I am moaning so much. Many people have it a lot worse than me. And I know this. I think I am just feeling a bit sorry for myself and struggling to understand why I should change my habits for nothing.
    eurgh, my attitude sucks today.
 I often read your thread to see how you're doing, but couldn't just read and run today, so I'm de-lurking to say hang in there! You might have been side-swiped a bit this week, but you're still heading the right direction because you've taken that vital overall control of your finances. It will get better, especially once OH's contribution starts coming in (congrats to him for that BTW)
Stick with it hunny and don't be too hard on yourself, you're doing well!

Aw, I am so sorry to hear that your Nana isn't having a good day today. Just remember that she doesn't mean it, she is just lashing out at people who she knows will forgive her. Being ill is strange sometimes, it must be so frustrating.
    :(

Hope things start improving for you and your mum scubaangel.
    Hugs.

    Hi habibiboo.
Plan is to restart in January. Going to keep going this month (mainly cause I have spent all the money) but going to start pushing the credit card debt in January.
Have spoken to OH and my Dad... plan is to pay £400 a month and try to get rid of the card within a year. Dad and Mum have decided that they are going to take a backseat with regards to their loan so if I have any spare money, it will be going towards the credit card too... this means that more than £400 could be getting thrown at the card a month.

Sorry to everyone for being so miserable the past couple of days, I was just so disappointed and I didn't have anywhere to "vent" my frustration.
    :embarasse

Thanks to everyone for their support.
    Hugs.

This is going to sound really daft but today's good mood is brought to you by stupidity.
    :rotfl:

Basically, I am a bit paranoid and was scared that someone would steal my purse whilst I was on holiday and I would lose everything. (This is a normal thing for me when I am go on holiday as I come from a small village so find big cities and crowds quite daunting).

So, my masterplan is always to put money in several different places so that if my wallet gets stolen, I still have enough money to eat until I get home.

Well, my masterplan went abit wrong this holiday as I have just found 100 euros (my emergency stash) in a pocket of a pair of nice, newly washed combats that didn't even come on holiday with me.

This means that I did NOT come home with one cent... I came home with one hundred euros and one cent!!!
    :T

We have put the money in our pot for next June as we have a wedding in Kos then.
    :D

Today, I am feeling a lot more positive. Spoke to OH and my dad and the plan is set to start in January... so I am classing the past three months as a warm-up.

We are planning on paying £400 a month to the credit card which should mean that it is all paid off by the end of November!!
    :j

I said to my Dad about helping himself to the money he is owed (the leftovers from the main account) but he would rather keep the extras and pay more of the credit card to get it finished quicker. (I think I scared him when I spoke to him about the calculator on here and how much interest I would be paying).
So the plan is to demolish the credit card.
 (was looking for a fighing smilie but there isn't one).

    So... the plan is:

    1) Remove credit card from amazon!!
    2) Give credit card to Dad for safe-keeping.
    3) Budget better!!
    4) Take part in the challenges each month to keep myself focussed.
    5) Pay as much as possible to the credit card debt.
    6) Keep saving £60 a month and not touch it. (to be used for holiday to Kos and any "annual bills").

2014 is going to be the year for change... I am turning 30 and want to be more responsible. (going to try to be anyways).

On a more personal note, the plan is to try and lose weight. I would like to lose a lot of weight. I have a lot of "skinny clothes" and I would like to wear them. I would also like to have pictures of me and OH around the house where I don't hate the way I look.

So... along with the financial plan, 2014 has two personal goals:

    1) Lose 72 pounds. (whilst I know that this may take longer than a year, I want to get started as soon as possible).
    2) Get a nice picture of OH and me that I am proud to have on display in the house. (ties in with the weight loss thing).

So... lucky number is 8 and we have 8 goals in my plan. First step is away to be completed. Bye bye easy access to amazon.

Good luck. I find I don't spend any where near as much on amazon now I have to earn the vouchers to pay for things, think my card linked to the account expired a couple of years back and I've never relinked it (thankfully I kept my Dad's address on my amazon account so I didn't need a card to verify it when I moved home).

Well done on making your 8 goals stewby.

I think the photo goal is a great idea, I have hated pictures of myself for about 8 years now so would love to get some decent pictures and be happy with my weight.

Also congratulations on finding your 100 euros!! :)
