I've got two photos of me I like, one I'm underwater in my dry suit in the middle of having my mask and regulator pulled out (controlled environment as I was demonstrating for teaching a course), and one taken as I was walking across the pub with a glass on my head. None of the ones from when I was slimmer look good as I think my face looks terrible (I have a round face and looked gaunt) and the others I think I look chubbier than I actually am - one day I'll go learn how to dress myself properly to flatter my shape.
Not that it stops me hoping that someone somewhere has a decent photo of me.
I found some euros the other day, put them somewhere safe again and can't remember where they are now, which is annoying as I'm going to Tenerife in January now with my Mum, Sister and sisters friend (flights are my Christmas pressie from M and SD).It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

hey scubaangel and fmess.
Oh, that dreaded somewhere safe!! We have a glass jar decorated in pretty bees that our weird coins come from. (I have some quarters and dimes that we inherited from my Dad and some NZ dollars... and now some euros).
I hate all photos of me. We have what should be an amazing photo of us at the eiffel tower. We were in the restaurant (not the expensive one but the cheaper one in the middle tier) and we were right in the middle of a huge window with a view of the trocadero. It was amazing and the waitress offered to take a picture of us... but it was a full size picture (as in you can see my feet) and I am bent over the table. It just looks horrendous.
I would love to go back to Paris to get a nicer picture. Or anywhere and get a nicer picture. I have 7 months until Kos so need to get a wriggle on. 72lbs is do-able...
Have a great holiday to Tenerife scubaangel (will say now in case I forget cause my memory is awful). I love travelling and have been to tenerife before but can't rememeber anything much about it. I think that was loro park which was really good. dolphins and birds.
I am kinda relieved that other people feel the same to be honest fmess. I feel really bad saying that but it does make me feel a bit normal which is kind of a nice feeling.

Hi Stewby, saw your note on the DDD thread, so just stopping by to say that I hope the rest of the month seriously improves for you and that you get your roof sorted soon. ((HUGS))Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Hey habibiboo.
Fingers crossed although I feel bad cause as proven, other people have it much worse than me. My damaged roof is nothing compared to cottage-retreatist's hubby losing his job.
:embarasse
On the plus side (I always like my plus sides), I am back to work tomorrow so will hopefully have three spend-free days (saturday, sunday and monday. obviously friday will be roof payment). I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will be easy to fix although the roofer guy said it is too cold for concrete.
:undecided
Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day. As much as I know fmess is right about changing my budgets, the problem is that I have no money left to play with.
* I didn't get paid enough to cover my outgoings so my parents have had to step in.
* I have had to buy £100 worth of petrol but I had only budgetted £50 for the month. (the second £50 has gone on the credit card).
* The money I gave to my Dad has now been used up. (garage bill and roof).
Positives:
* All the xmas stuff has been bought.
* OH is going away for ten days over xmas so I will move in with my parents during that time. (saves money on food).
* We have a fully stocked freezer and cupboards.
* My January plan has not been destroyed yet.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel, we could always call this character-builing.
As I said to my OH during his course... If you breezed through it with absolutely no problems and someone else paid it for you then you wouldn't feel that you had achieved it the same.
These sort of issues just make you focus harder and become happier when you do succeed.
God, more greeting than a xmas card in this thread.
Sorry.

Well, today has been a rotten day. However, remaining positive, it's a spend free day!!

So, that's a grand total of three.
:undecided
Should have another two by Tuesday as I am working tomorrow and Monday.
Today is one of those days when I wish I could give someone my job for a day and just see how they cope. I have a colleague at my work who just tells me everything I have done is wrong. (she is not a staff nurse but an auxillary).
Today she told me that something I had done was going to get me a disciplinary as it wasn't the correct protocol... however, after panicking for three hours, my senior nurse came in and when I asked her, there wasn't even a problem.
The most evil bit was when, after pointing out the fourth thing I had done wrong, she said "This is why we need to have someone in charge who knows what they are doing".
A) I do bloody know what I am doing. I have been looking after people since I was 18!! (that's almost 12 years!!)
I have been in your ward for two months. You try going to a new place and taking charge after practically no induction.
C) They have just changed all the paperwork and it is a joke. It is a heap of rubbish and if you think I can't do my job then you just try it.
Sorry, needed that rant. Well, it's better than spending five minutes in the toilets crying and feeling sorry for myself.
In positive news... I decided "F*** it" and told the senior nurse that I had worked late last night. I was going to leave it and not claim the hours but after my colleague decided to be a witch today, I thought about it and decided that I will claim.
I also asked her to look into why I haven't been paid any of my extra shifts since I started as I kinda need the money.
Only thing I forgot about was new uniform trousers.

hey stewby
Sorry to hear that nurse is being a b**ch. Ignore them. They are probably really unhappy and taking it out on you. Glad that your senior nurse could confirm that there wasn't a problem and glad you decided to put in for those extra hours, you worked them so you deserve to be paid for them.
Hope you have a better day at work today.LBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Hi Stewby
I used to manage a team of 20 women and found that all new-comers got picked on by a certain member of the team who was, in herself, very insecure about anyone else who came along who was at all competent, confident and like-able. I did find ways of managing her effectively and making her into more of a team player but my point is that, as Fmess says, she's almost certainly an unhappy person and, I'd venture, is envious of the way you've just gently eased into the rhythm of your new work place and have quickly become invaluable to the team (so much so that they're giving you extra hours left right and centre). So, two bits of advice for you:
Don't let this unhappy person spoil your fabulous start in your new job. Just smile in the face of adversity and take comfort from your senior nurse's observations. You don't have to make friends with the wicked one, but maybe just act friendly towards her (as you do with all the others), she'll thaw towards you eventually - although sadly that'll probably be when the next newbie arrives!
Make sure you put in for all of those extra hours, otherwise that old meanie will be getting to you twice over - emotionally and financially. That extra money is taking you closer to your goals which you've been working so hard to achieve, plus you've earned it, so fill out those forms!
I hope the coming week is better for you!

Today was hard work... my fourth shift in a row.
Back on tomorrow and am on with the witch so will see what happens. The manager from next door (who was on all weekend) told me just to put her in her place next time. (a bit hard to do when the witch has worked there for twenty-odd years and I have only been there two months). The problem is that my intuition is pretty good, so I just need to trust myself more.
:undecided
Hope everyone is doing well.

How was today with the witch?
Hope your shift was easier today and hopefully 5 shifts in a row means you are due a day off very soon?
I am on the count down until the Christmas holidays
I am shattered, everyday seems a blur this week consisting of; work all day, then walk the dogs, do house chores, do marking/planning/tutoring (some nights all 3!), then bed, then get up and repeat! However only 7 more days at work until we break up
Hope everyone has had a more restful day x xLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Didn't exactly work out that way to be honest fmess... I worked my five day shifts, then had a 4 hour study day (venepuncture or taking blood from people if you prefer the less big worded version) and have now worked nightshift thursday and another one on friday.
So... technically, I haven't really had a day off at all.
Hoping they have gotten my bank details sorted (as in I am now able to work extra shifts on the bank) as I haven't been paid for anything since 1st October and I am a bit concerned as I kinda need my bank money.
I am feeling quite excited as I noticed a course on the wall at work and it is on palliative care (which is something I am really interested in) so I asked permission to do it and my boss asked if I wanted to be the palliative care link nurse!! Which is something I think is awesome.
:j
It also means that they obvioulsy want to keep me. I am quite a paranoid person and I was worried that they wouldn't want me as I have been there two months and still not quite gotten to grips with everything.
:embarasse
The jungle drums have obviously been going as the witch was a lot nicer and laughing a lot on Tuesday. (you know that way when people laugh as they are making a dig as if to insinuate that it's a joke). She did have a go about the other auxillary writing in the documentation... I retorted though!! I said "but she is just writing in a weight that she took. There's nothing wrong with that".
So I did manage a wee bit!!
I am pleased that you have managed to get some tutor projects and it is going well. I know that you were really keen to get some so you could get extra money coming in.
Are you still doing your countdowns?? I love them. They really helped me when I was feeling rotten.
Oh!! speaking of which, how did you get on with the dress fitting?? (I have a terrible memory and have only just remembered. sorry). Did it go well??
