It is frustrating but I'll get there, had an email back from the other job I applied for today that position is filled but the manager has asked if I want to go in and talk about other positions which they have. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

That's great news scubaangel
I would love a money fairy! Although because in now using my purse so infrequently, every time I look inside it is a surprise as I've forgotten what's in there!
Hope you are all ok, I'm so excited because it's payday on Friday and half term next weekand my friend should be getting engaged on Friday
Hugs to both, hope you have a less rough shift stewbyLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Morning/afternoon.
I was on here last night... erm... but I nodded off. It's not that you guys were boring or anything, it was just two quite rough shifts. (between meeting quite a vocal moany colleague and a sad shift, I was quite shattered). To cheer you up, I was on the October challenge thread so it definitely wasn't you guys.
Great news about the potential job scuby... no idea on what the other positions are though?? Hopefully you have managed to get some more options on the table.
Hey fmess... I agree, a money fairy would be brilliant. Although I am a very lucky person. My mum and dad have realised that I am serious about being good with my money and want to encourage that.
I do a lot for my parents as my dad works full-time and my mum doesn't go out much on her own (almost at all on her own). So... I take her lots of places. Today, I took her to the GP and then this afternoon, I am taking her to a friend's house for lunch (I leave her there then my dad goes to collect her). Mum won't use public transport and even taxis make her nervous. She also gets worried when walking anywhere. I also took her to tescimos so she could get some flowers to take to her friend. As a result, she paid for my shopping this morning. There wasn't a mountain of food but I think it would be equal to about £15 there. I didn't ask for her to pay, I was asking for the receipt so that I could work out how much I owed and she told me she had binned it as it was useless. So I offered her £20 and she told me that she didn't want it.
So I got some free milk and things.
In fairness, I do have to take her and her sister (also a nervous person) to Disneyland Paris next month and that is going to be quite a challenge as we are flying there (my mum hates flying but it was a choice of two hours flying or 12 hours on a train).
My cousin is coming with as that means if my mum and me go on a ride, my auntie isn't left on her own. So it's easier to juggle if there are four of us and more fun for me if my cousin is there too.
I have saved up £300 of euros so far and hopefully (if I use my money saved from this month (sorry NSK and the october peoples), I can get an extra £100 to change as well. I am very aware of how expensive disneyland is so want to have enough money just in case.
:undecided
So... I am getting my lunch paid for today. My mum and dad are going shares for me and neil to eat out. (it is a wonderful wee teashop and only costs about £15 for the two of us to have tea, sandwiches and a cake so it's not too horrendous a price).
:embarasse
I feel really bad sometimes when I tell people what my parents do for me as I know others don't have that support network or their family don't have the ability to help them. But I promised myself that I would be honest on here even if it does make me look like a spoilt brat whose parents help her too much. I know how lucky I am compared to others and whilst I don't ask for what they give me (except for xmas and birthdays), I am always very grateful for anything they do for me or give me.
Anyways, that is me away to take my mum out. See you all later on. (if I have any readers left after this admission of spoilt rotten-ness).Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

I don't mind if you are spoilt-rotten, I'll still talk to you
Like you say, some people do not have such supportive patents and some might not be in a position to support them financially. My parents don't know about the extent of my debt but they know I am trying to save money to pay off my loan (the think it covered my car and a holiday but it actually paid all my credit cards off) so they are being really encouraging. My mum also buys me lots of gluten free food every time I go round as it's so expensive and she wants to help me stick to my gluten free diet, bless her
Better go get ready for the last day at work before a week offI'm so happy, but have millions of marking to do in the next week

Aw, it's still great that she offers you support though. I don't know how you can eat gluten free bread... a person I looked after once told me that it only tastes okay if you toast it otherwise it is just awful. (but that was about 10 years ago so it might be different now).
Ah, it has taken me 25 days for something to suddenly click. Please don't laugh at my daftness but...
The October Awakening... You are meant to add your food budget, fuel allowance and beauty budget altogether and that would leave you with the amount you have as a "saving".
Well... I didn't so I started with £400, removed £220 and left myself with just my food budget of £180 to try and buy everything with. Whilst still keeping my budgets as seperate.
So... at least I have learned something that I can take with me to the November challenge.
:rotfl:
Taking my mum out today as we found out the garden centres are starting to become xmassy (we love seeing all the xmas stuff). So mum is paying for the high tea (£16 for two with sandwiches, scones, cakes and tea). OH isn't joining us as he was all shopped out yesterday (only went to two garden centres and one of them was for lunch).
The rule is generally that I don't realy pay for meals as I am always the one driving so I am paying the petrol. Which is a rule I like.
Hope you all have a lovely Friday, the weekend is just around the corner.
Good luck with all your marking fmess. Hope it's all good results.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

I agree with fmess, its not being spoilt its being lucky enough to have caring parents who are able to help you. If any of us is spoilt I'd say I'm a good candidate too - living at home rent free, not having to buy food or pay bills.
Have a great time out wth your Mum.It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Happy weekend everyone!
Just having a sit down and catch up on here as I've raced round and done lots of errands in the car this morning, and I'm about to tackle the shamefully large pile on washing up that I've pushed into the corner for the past 24 hours
Off to visit my grandad this afternoonand then out for dinner with OHs parents (hoping they'll pay as usual - we never see them and OH doesn't get on with them but every so often they take us out to dinner to pretend play at happy families!)
Your maths issues make me chuckle stewby. Although until the October Challenge I've always counted my spends until I went over my limit, and then ignored the rest! Not very good accounting!
There is a nice gluten free bread out now, called Genius bread. It's my favourite and is nice as bread and toastGluten free food seems to be improving, yesterday I found ASDA now make their own, reasonably priced, gluten free sausages
Hope you all have a lovely day, I'll try and pop back before I fall asleep this eveningLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)

Afternoon everybody.
So it is that time of the year where the credit card gets hammered and it still is... however, it is buying stuff for my mum from the internet and she is giving the money straight to my dad to pay off the credit card. So it is almost like I am not using it at all. This is probably frowned upon but my dad is still a bit internet wary (thinks his card details will get stolen the scond he types them in) so she has no real options as she doesn't go out shopping into the big city.
Ah fmess, I know that game very well. I used to have a completely different total spent in my head as I never really checked my account, just spent on it figuring I still had £300 left until I went to check and then...
Nice to hear you have been so busy... I woke up at 07:27 (after going to bed at 03:00) and thought "no way" and then woke up at 12:15.
Ah scubaangel... I would love to still be living with my parents sometimes. I was particularly jealous of the people when I was at uni as they were getting money for being there and had nothing to spend it on, whereas I had to work extra in order to afford my mortgage and bills, couldn't afford to go out and stuff.
Currently I get jealous when I see people announcing about their holidays. How I wish that I could go on amazing holidays whenever I wanted. (I think I am feeling it particularly hard just now as I want to go to new york for my 30th but it is just not financially possible so people going away is stinging a bit).
A bit of a downer at the end but to cheer everyone up... it's a baking day today!! And as a thank you for taking my dad into the big city for a works meal, we are getting a dominos!! (mum's treat). Hooray!!
:j
Hope everyone has a great weekend.

So... a great lazy day for me.
My Dad came and (hopefully) fixed the bathroom so as a thank you (instead of the usual bottle of whisky) I made him a yule log.
http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/29920/christmas-yule-log.aspx
Imagine this but a wee bitty more rubbish. It is not an easy recipe and I don't think I will be making it again.
On the plus side, apart from stealing 6 eggs off my mum and getting her to seperate them (after I messed up the first two), the recipe was all stuff I had in the house. So it cost me nothing but time and effort... and love I guess.
:happyhear
Needless to say I am now feeling a wee bitty "vommy" as I tasted everything as I went like all the best chefs do. Then indulged my inner child by eating the leftover cake mix and icing mix (licking the beaters from the handmixer was always my favourite part of cooking).
Hope everyone is having a great day.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

hey
I've managed a really productive day, but I'm now so sleepy and my head is confused now the clocks have changed.
I love it that dads are so useful! Mine is rubbish in the house but he did help me cut my hedge this year, after I didn't cut it for 3 years because I didn't have the tools
I'm really excited for the November ChallengeI've also signed up for the Make £10 a day Challenge (although I'm aiming for £5 a day as it's my first month).
Hope you've had a good dayLBM = 07/09/13 Debt = £13339 (100% cleared)
