One of my friends was going to be doing the tough mudder challenge but she broke her leg quite badly (it's going to take about a year of rehab).
You will have to keep us up to date with how you are doing. Please.Ah, see, I am the complete opposite. You can't get rid of me for chatting and I am quite nosey. I want to know everything, from partners right the way to your kid's dogs favouite chew toy. I love speaking to people and hearing their stories about growing up and their work. I'm surprised I get any work done.
I always thought that male nurses would be less accepted by older people (not calling you old, this is just in my experience) but little old ladies love having a young man on the go. It's amazing how much they perk up and try to do more, almost like showing off.
She's 91 and loved the male staff, very much a case of she might be old but she still likes to look at a nice bit of a man, did I mention the male physio who worked on that ward......almost worth pretending to be ill to get a bed to sit and watch him bending over. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Evening.
Only a wee bit of a disaster whilst shopping. I wrote out my shopping list... then forgot to take it with me.
Also, there was only cheap lamb's kidneys and lamb's liver available so we didn't get any cheap meat.
However, we did get some cheap, ready diced veg. Celery, onion and carrots already done for 50p each, bought two and handed to my dad who will make lentil soup for me).
The most amazing thing that happened is that OH bought yellow labelled green beans!! (He has always been completely against buying reduced fruit and veg). I am so proud.
:j
So... we spent £44.70 but £20 of that was for a voucher for a bday so that isn't counted in the budget. So it was £24.70 for our weeks shopping. Oh, and that included £3.00 for the food bank. We gave them four tins of chicken soup and a tin of fruit cocktail.
So for two weeks, we have only spent £40.10 which is amazing for me!! I was even quite bad and told OH that since I bought the voucher, he should pay the pizza so I don't have to give him the £15 for the pizza last night. I am getting quite cheeky nowadays.
I can't believe how much I have matured in the past couple of months. (in relation to finances, not anything else). It's quite scary to be honest. Not quite completely mature though as I still really really want to go to new york on holiday and I am trying really hard to figure out a way to do it. (please don't give me a row, I can't help it. I love new york and have wanted to go since I was little).Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

I can't believe you jump into iced water!!
My steps have been a complete disaster today but I am blaming the fact that this is my recovery day from my four shifts. I have only walked 1909 steps so far.
Aw. Your nana sounds awesome. I love chatty people, they are so good to speak to. Silent people are so much more difficult to build a repore with.

Well done on the cheap food shop, £24.70 is amazingly low! I usually aim for £30 on the main shop but it's only really achievable at A!di as I get too tempted at Asd4!
I know what you mean about getting cheekier. I usually pay for most takeaways and treats, as I earn the most. However, now I'm not offering, my OH has actually bought them!
If you have your MSE head on, then definitely no to New Yorkbut I guess it depends on how much it would set you back on debt busting. I've decided that I can only go on holiday if I save the money in advance and if I accept that I'll be in debt for longer, which I don't want. I wish I'd started this journey before going to Australia this year!

I have a dry suit, toasty warm thermals, and the water temp is usually around 4c while the air temp is generally around 1 or 2c before you take in to account the wind chill.
Plus days like that we have bacon/sausage butties and hot chocolate waiting for when we get out then almost always go to the pub (the one nearest our favourite winter dive site has a fab open fire and does mulled wine, and warm alcohol free cider).
You're allowed lazy days, the average is more important.
She's great but hard work - tonight shes asked mum for a whistle so she can get mums attention when shes in another room. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Sorry, I couldn't help but laugh. She sounds amazing. Exactly my sort of lady, if you know what I mean. I love the ones with a bit of spark about them.
:rotfl:
Pub in exchange for freezing cold water doesn't sound worth it to me but then I am not really much of a drinker. Oh would probably jump in twice if you offered him a free pint.
My sensible head says no to new york but then it is like the house, my heart is going "maybies?? there might be some way".
I am dedicated to getting rid of my debt and hopefully we can save save save and maybe afford a wee trip at some point in 2014. I really want to do a trip to somewhere amazing like new york because we are both turning 30... but I suppose turning 30 and being debtfree then going on holiday would be even sweeter.Mortgage: £0/£80,329.91

I say get debt free - it's only a year or so right? Then save for New York, with your newly frugal ways am sure it wouldnt be long until you've saved enough to book it.
My mum slapped me for suggesting a less disturbing option for the rest of the household would be a shock collar on mum.:A
TBH at that dive site it's usually better when its cold as there's less water running off the surrounding fields reducing the visibility and the ice keeps people away improving the vis too - I usually take my camera with me on cold days to get pictures of the stuff/fish in there. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

My parents are both Scots, Dad was in the RAF so we were known as the Scottish Family with the english children! I have never actually lived north of the border but all holiday's were spent up there until I was in my teens and as often as I can since.
I ended up in Hertfordshire because of work and quite like where I am as this country bumpkin can be in open fields and woods within about 10 minutesGreat for me and my dogs
Mum made sure that we loved Scotland as much as she did and we were brought up on good scottish fayre like Haggis, Neeps & Tatties, Stew and dumplings, mince & tatties, proper home made lentil soup, tablet and proper cakes. We always stopped just over the border for mutton pies too:j Proud Member of Mike's Mob :j0 -
Going to sound reall stupid now but do the fish survive in the iced water?? I thought they normally come up to the surface for air.
I suppose if it keep the enviroment safe from people who wouldn't take suitable care of it then it's fair enough.
Currently watching OH play his fifa13... The new one has come out but he has told me he doesn't want it. He is surprising me with how good he is being.

Yup there's oxygen in the water as a dissolved gas as well as the obvious molecular structure of water so their gills can pull it out, they're actually more likely to drown/suffocate in the summer months when the waters warm as there's less dissolved oxygen in the water for them - the fisheries behind my parents houses hire aerators in summer to pump air in to the water to keep the fish alive! Mammals struggle when it's frozen whales in particular live in the polar regions and can die when there's no gaps in the ice. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
