How annoying with non paying ebayers and your car costing !
You need to rest and get better though for both you and baby Jwil otherwise you will run yourself down completely. x
Thanks LAMI'm trying to chill, I'm aware I'm likely to burn out, but it's hard when there's so much to do. I'm hoping that I'll get into a better routine soon

((hugs)) jwil - i feel for you being ill and the lack of sleep too x And  to the car problems and bay of e issues as well. It is also draining having to deal with these issues - it is the weekend now so hopefully a good rest for you and little jwil too and hope you both are feeling a lot better.
You aren't failing with the challenge - anything we can do is better than nothing and puts us in a better money position x
And i am glad to see you posting and even you just get to pop in once a week and let us know how you are doing then that is good as i really like hearing from you
I've just realised that when i was tackling my debt i did it all higgledy piggledy - i didn't target the highest rate card first - i targeted i think the lowest balance - for the relief of clearing 1 debtI then tackled the rest based on different things so maybe 2nd highest as the highest bill was just too daunting for me
I think my debt was different as i didn't have a loan with a definite end date too. I was wondering if you have a target bill that you are working on / ideally want to work on ? I remember feeling that i couldn't see my situation ever changing that i was doing all i could to meet minimums but spending on the cards i could as well in order to buy food / pay house bills. But it did change and i think just focusing on that first smaller bill helped - even though it wasn't tiny it also wasn't the £10,000 of my highest one
I wish i lived closer then i could pop round and help you list stuff / babysit
so you could rest etc.
For our bay of e target i think i've done 64/100 new listings so have 36 items to find and write up before next friday  Most have been low value things circa £2.
i was going to mention something else too but i can't remember what now... yep thats it. The other week i also realised that you have managed to have some house jobs done that needed to be done. I haven't even though i really wanted to (definitely needed jobs) but couldn't afford to - i think that is something else to think about just how much you have achieved with the jobs like that that you have done which is an investment really x
Hope you get a good nights kip x
Thanks DDFW, you've just made me shed a little tearYour offer that you would help out if you were nearer. That's one of our problems, we've got no one around us who can help out. None of my family is anywhere near, and my friends who would help all live elsewhere in the country. That worries me, especially if little man gets ill as it means I've got to take the time off work as DH can't.
You're right, I am going all higgledy piggledy with the debt. I think it's partly because I'm robbing peter to pay paul at the moment. I keep thinking I need to get back on track and then focus, but in reality maybe I should just pick one card and start targetting that anyway.
Knowing that you were the same but managed to get out of it helps a lot, thank you"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Well it's Monday again. I did try and chill out a bit this weekend, but trying to get organised for the week takes up more time than I'd think!
Sleep continues to elude me as I'm up half the night coughing.
DH sold loads yesterday so had lots of packing to do before work today. That's most of it gone though so that's good. It's a couple more boxes emptied.
I did pop a few things on ebay too. My focus this week will be to try and get some more on for me. I haven't got much on at the moment (other than my hundreds of books) so need to get some things on there.
I did sell a few books over the weekend, so have a few ££s to withdraw.
I do need to look at finances for this month too. I've signed up for childcare vouchers but they wont come in until next month, so a full nursery bill to pay this month. That bill was around £50 less than I was expecting, so that's good. I'm wondering if that's because Feb is a shorter month, or whether that is my monthly total (I thought they averaged it out over 12 months, but I may have read that wrong). I'll find out next month.
At least it's council tax free months the next couple of months, that extra will really help.
Dreading tomorrow for the car as I'm not convinced it's going to cure the fault, but I have to try.
DH bought a big slow cooker at the weekend as I've been saying we need one for a while. Ours was only a small one, so it wasn't quite big enough to do a full meal, you had to cook potatoes or a side separately. This one has enough to do the whole lot, so I've got a casserole in there today which will be nice as it's a long day for me today.
We also went to a nearly new sale on Saturday and got some clothes and a few other bits for little man. It works out so much cheaper. I never buy named brands for him full price, but here I can get stuff like that for pennies, and it's decent quality.
Right, better get back to it"Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -

hi DDFW - failed miserably on ebay target but have managed overtime which is rare and only really available at this time of year - money will only reflect in next months pay packet though.
will try ebay again in Feb0 -
hi Jwil
hope car is sorted and without too much expense!
Looks like you are still plodding along - what else can we do eh?
I found when I had £10k of credit card debt I felt better targeting one at a time - I started with the highest interest rate. I know hard for you as you are trying to survive with everything else that needs paying.
isn't childcare expensive! I was speaking to a friend the other day and I couldn't believe what she pays. Luckily even DS3 is no 19so I don't have to worry about that.
good job on the baby stuff at cheaper prices too.
take care - hope its a good week for you x0 -

Aww thanks Brizzlehi Jwil

Thanks LAM
Childcare is scary. It's £600 a month for 3.5 days a week, and I think that's a 'reasonable' fee
I think once I'm a bit more organised and settled into a routine, I'm seriously going to pick a card and stick to it."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do". Eoin McGee0 -
Hi All,
jwil - so good you've got a big slow cooker now :T Well done Mr jwili used ours this weekend again - up first thing satday and threw the ingredients in - it was nice coming home to a tea mostly done and delicious smell too
I think speed in getting ready will come the more times you do it - i always thought being up an hour before work gave me just enough time - now i only need 30 minutes :T
Well done on the bargains for your little man :T i am not sure what its like near you but the last carboot i did the car next to me made over £1000  and still had loads left  it was all baby / young children clothes everything was washed and ironed and in a quality clear plastic / see through bag which was sealed so it couldn't get messed up  and they had big like fabric laundry baskets and these were split into both ages and girl and boy and price so say 0-6mth £2 each and then 0-6mths £4 each.
jwil - i'm with you on the car - mine had broken down again - i could just cry - the last time it was fixed with the huge bill was november time
LAM - well done on the OT - i can't get any at all.
I think we should all give ourselves a pat on the back for what we did achieve in Jan on the bay of e challenge - it was always going to be tough for different reasons - first of all it sjanuary  then we all had our own individual things - Lam with overtime and i'm not sure if you've spent more time with your horses too this month? Hope they're ok - sometimes i can read up but not post, jwil - back to work and managing that and childcare and me - ou work. So i think anything we've done is an achievementAnd means we can think about Febs challenge :T KC is going to join us on this too. I am skint, i have £1 and 1/2p in my purse. I have no money to pay for the car to be fixed. I am desperate to get the gutters done. I have to pay for insurance next week too  I have nothing left to sell  So i am aiming for £500 in listings - so what i list the start total needs to add up to £500 :eek::eek: I am serious that i have nothing to list for sale. i have no stash of things ready to list at all. This is also intended to push me like it did when i was in debt. So i will be selling even the things i'd rather keep. i have recently given away my 3 more pricey items that i was going to list this month - would've been worth about £50 for the lot but it helps a couple of people out.
And brizzle - are you joining us- so lovely of you to offer to help jwil
i understand it must be hard without people nearby jwil ((hugs))

Thanks DDFW
Dinner yesterday was yuckI think I hadn't put enough liquid in ironically. Oh well, it's just a case of getting used to it.
Wow to the people at the car boot! You'd never get away with those prices here, the best I could hope for is probably 3 for £1. It's about what I paid though and all cash in. I need to sort through the baby clothes. We are keeping most of the equipment in case we have another. The clothes though, unless it's something I loved, we'll get rid of it all.
I think you are right, we should be pleased with what we have achieved.
Sorry to hear about your car DDFW, hope it's nothing too serious. It's the big repair day today for mine. I'm really hoping it will solve the fault but not convinced it will. I spent too long googling it last week, and found too many occasions where people just couldn't find out what was happening, and it just went on and on. I'm kind of resigning myself that I'm going to somehow have to raise around £3k to buy a new carThat figure should give me enough to get something reasonable that won't let me down.
So once I finish work, I've got to take the car to the garage and wait while they work on it. They reckon it will only take an hour or so, so I should be home around 3-30. My aim then is to walk the dogs and then hopefully little man will go down for a nap, and I'll try to get some listing done. I'd like to try and get 10 items on at least today. They will probably be 99p items, but it will still help.
I'm with you on that £500 for next month DDFW. We can do it! Tattycath, if you are lurking, would you like to join us? Anyone else who wishes to can join in as well. It doesn't need to be £500, anything you want."Good financial planning is about not spending money on things that add no value to your life in order to have more money for the things that do".
