You are being very unreasonable with your DD though, at 12 there are hundreds of things she will literally die if she does not get.
Hope this week is finding you well!
Hi ElphabaThropp
Hope all is well with you. I really hope it is easier to save for myself rather that paying debt off but I will know one way or the other next October.
OK so I am being unreasonable with DD problem is she actually doesn't know what she wants we have went from Ipad to designer clothes to her bedroom being re done to a dog to a rabbit to a guinea pig to a cat to any type of animal :rotfl:
Very tired after my two days at work. Was very busy and my wrists are sore today from all the typing.
So my plan today is to work on my budget and meal plan for next month.
Pay day tomorrow :j.
I have had a few spends today Petrol and a new smoke/co2 alarm and I know we ended this month in our overdraft I just need to check by how much.
The budget and meal plan will probably take a few days but will make a start.
Need to also check gas and electric meters. Still have £20 left so should be able to save this towards our goal.0 -
Having a bad few days. Sat down to do meal plan and budget and my laptop started playing up. Turns out I have a nasty virus and there was an attempt at my internet banming :mad: Thankfully nothing was taken.
I took the laptop to a repair shop for them to clear the virus but after them checking it ovrr they said due to it's age and issues with the battery and hard drive unrelated to the virus it does not look economical to repair.
I know it was on it's way out but had hopes it would have Lasted a good while longer
So a new laptop is on order and no money to be saved again this month
Right enough moaning. Have done a food shop for the week and spent £52.08 so have £197.92 left of food budget to spend this month.
House is tidy so going to relax in front of the TV before starting dinner.0 -
pop over to the techie forum, with details of laptop and problem, there's probably nothing wrong with the old one that can't be fixed for free (if you can live with a rubbish battery)

run
chkdsk c: /R
on the hard disk to check for errors
scan with malwarebytes (see link above) to check for infections
defrost in microwave (food not laptop)!!

Ahh it's a right pain but if it was so old it was probably going to need replacing before your year is out anyway. Plus it is loss of savings and not added to debt, that is brilliant.£10781.62 by 23/04/2014 :rudolf:
Current goal: £1000/£0 7lbs/0lbs
Total Today: £10781.62 / £0 paid off
Getting my own life before my parents change the locks. :T0 -
Have been back online with new laptop for a few days but I have been floored with a bad cold.
But I am feeling much better.
So spend wise it has been a bad month.
So far out of Novembers budget we have spent £450 on the new laptop though this included the cost of new anti virus software which we needed as we don't want to risk getting another virus. £71 on kitting the kids out in winter gear. £43 on birthday presents for kids friends birthdays (there were 5 of them in the last weeks).
Still got DD birthday and I will need to get her presents this week.
It's never ending this month.
Very disappointed that so far we have only saved £40 towards our goal but once I get 5 minutes to myself I am going to have a good look at our finances.
Right house is a mess, the washing basket is over flowing as usual and the kids need sorted for school this week.0 -

Thanks for the link closed, I shall keep that in mind for next year when ours runs out.
Right I am hoping to spend today doing finances.
I had forgotten we have started a savings with a credit union. So far we have £250 in this and with the gas/elec savings and some change we have £316 now saved.
So my goal is now £9,684 by next October.
We will get our rental deposit of £600 back when we leave here (if we ever get our deposit together) but I am unsure if I should count this or not.
Off to work on my budget, whish me luck.0 -
Well it's been a spend day today. Been out and bought DD presents. Spent £93 and still to get on item that is £20.
So £113 all in. I am happy with this and she should be please but we will see lol
The bank account is looking rather empty. I have spent on the credit card so moved money into an empty account ready for when the bill comes in.
Spoke to DH last night and we both think our goal is doable. I am going to see about getting my salary paid into a different account from January and just try to forget about it.
So the plan is.
9 x my salary = £5400
9 x money that was used for debts now paid off = 2,331
2 months council tax = £308
9 x DH wage increase = £900
9 x credit union payments = £450
Plus the current £316 we have saved
Total £9,705
DH gets a decent amount of overtime so this will help. Of course there will be things that come up next year like school uniforms to be paid for but I really think if we are careful we can do this.
Roll on January I say lol0 -
Brrrrrr it's so cold.
DH has had to use the left over £40 to top up the gas and electric as we have used so much.
Although this house is small it is drafty with old windows. DH has gone out to get some things he thinks will stop some of the drafts. The house is currently 62 (no heating on) and from doing some g**gling I see the recommendation is over 64. So hopefully if we can plug the drafts that will increase the temp.
I am sat here with my dressing gown on and a hot water bottle and feel fairly warm.
DH is also doing the shopping for me while I get on with some housework.
Dinner tonight is a pasta bake and garlic bread. I plan to make a pot oh veg soup to keep us all warm as well and do a few lunches.
Will update spends when DH gets back.0 -
Just ordered DD's last birthday present. Put it on the credit card so must remember to pay £19.99 off this when I get paid.0
