Well that's Easter over with for this year. Good time was had by all but boy did we spend more than I was expecting.

So with DH at work and the kids at school I am going to sit and check the damage done to the bank account.

I should be at work today but last week they offered anyone who wanted to take a holiday today to take one as they were expecting it to be quiet so I jumped at the chance.

I do a lot of typing in my job and today my hands and wrist are sore, probable from all the tennis and badminton we played at the weekend :)

So the fridge and freezer and cupboards are fairly well stocked so we shouldn't need much this week.

Pay day for me at the end of the week as well.

Okay so bank has been checked.

£261.72 will need to be taken from the savings account :(

Next months budget has been done and I need to stick to it to have a hope of moving £800 to our savings account.

Going to have another look at our savings accounts and see where we actually are.

Mmmmm just re-calculated our savings we are now only sitting at £11,676.55 after our easter getaway.

Anyway I have spent yesterday doing spreadsheets. I was talking to a mortgage broker last week about the changes coming in on Saturday. Since banks will be going through statements in minute detail DH and I thought we will start keeping detailed records of our spending.

This is mainly as we withdraw cash for a few things so if we keep receipts etc for the next 3 months we will be able to clearly show what our spending is like.

The downside to this is that the house is a tip with paper work everywhere lol
  • That's a good idea with the receipts etc. I take out quite a chunk of our pay in cash to put in to envelopes, i'm not sure how I can show this unless I take pics of the envelopes stuffed with cash ;) I might have to leave it in the bank for 3 months running up to our mortgage application
    Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34
    Total- £1783.67
Goal pay off 1% of current mortgage in 1 year. £1650

    EF- £442.41/500

Now we've planned to do this what's the betting the bank won't need to know when, where and how much bread we've bought over the a 3 month period lol but best to be prepared.

Have been reading up on the new MMR but I suppose no-one will know 100% how things will be done until it's been in place for a while.

DH payslip was available online today, though he doesn't get paid till next week, so I was able to run through next months budget and it looks doable to save £850 so fingers crossed.

I transfer the funds at the start of the month so roll on Tuesday when I can shift some money.

House is still a tip and I am in a CBA mood today.

Dinner will be something quick and easy really hoping the kids want beans on toast tonight because they can make it themselves :rotfl:

Updated my spreadsheets with todays spends and have filed away the receipts.

Weather here is miserable, feeling really cold but have put on a jumper rather than the heating.

Kitchen is nice and tidy and clean, need to sort the living room. Once that's done kids and I are going to watch the wizard of oz and we will have some easter chocolate (we have 15 eggs still to eat)

Dinner is chicken breast, veg and potatoes.

DH is at work and has taken meatballs and pasta with him. He has done 6 hours OT this week, hopefully he will get more next week.

    FIFTEEN EGGS! I'm impressed. :D

I think the new mortgage rules (just my interpretation mind) is not there to ensure that you are spending on necessities but more that you will not need to drastically lower your quality of life after purchasing the property. It is, after-all, much more difficult to lower your standard of living than it is to increase it. Since you are living well within your means, I don't think that it is too much to ask. Other people may fall into money and have to cut back a lot to survive.

Glad to hear that you are doing well well!

I have been MIA recently, been very busy but of course being very busy also means I have struggled with my Fibro the last few weeks.

So not much to report, plodding along waiting for pay day next week for me and the week after for DH.

Have been a bit lax on the food front a few takeaways and at times almost daily trips to the shops, so today I took a full inventory of the cupboards, fridge and freezer. Apart from milk, ham, cereal and a few salad bits we should be ok till next weekend.

Another busy weekend here two weddings this weekend. Absolutely shattered and feeling poor after all the spends associated with weddings.

We got back from the second wedding about 10pm, it was a fairly small do with an early start. I am afraid I am not feeling too good, my stomach feels a bit dodgy, hopefully it's all the rich food and cake I've eaten this weekend and nothing more.

Finances will not be good this month, MOT needed this month and the car needs new tires before this. Not going to worry about it as I can't not pay this out.

I have done a meal plan for the week so feeling organized, something I haven't felt for a while. I know I go on about it but my Fibro is really impacting on me and my ability to just lead a normal life :-(

So working Tues/Wed next week and other than that I don't plan to do much more.
