Hi
Regarding working from home, if OH keeps his tools at home and does the jobs on site, then there is no problem.
If he start constructing wardrobes at home, then you need to check your deeds as there might be a clause about this, as banging and sawing would affect the neighbours. Ultimately, if he was using it as a workshop, you would need planning consent, to which your neighbours could object.
Re the appalling rate he has been offeed for night work, no.
Even if he is not constructing wardrobes, he sounds "handy" and doing odd jobs like rehanging doors, sorting out skirting boards, making up falt pack furniture, bits of painting and decorating, he should be able to pick up £8-9 an hour.
He will have to pay self employed NI stamp, on his net earning, but he would net more than £6 an hour.
One of our locals is doing this as "Rent a Hubby" and i know of a polish guy earning £8 per hour on a casual basis (he goes back to Poland every couple of months for a while). If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
I am so tired. Coz we share a car I had to take hin to work as it's five miles away! I had to get up at 1.30am to take him there and after that was really hard to get back to sleep. I just wanna go back to bed. This is really worth more that £6/hour.
We are booked on to a free course with Business Link next Monday anyway so we can get all the info on how to start our business and hopefully he can stop doing this silly agency work as soon as possible. We've both had enough of it.
And if I get a second job things should get better. I will hopefully know more about that tomorrow.Don't ever be anybody's slogan because you are poetry

Thanks RAS
He won't be doing any kind of manual labour at our house. Just the admin side and storing some tools.
So at least that means we won't need to rent an office somewhere.Don't ever be anybody's slogan because you are poetry

I've been wating for my log in codes for Nationwide so I can go and see me Mortgage balance online. Was taking too long so I rang and turned out I filled something wrong in somewhere. Could they not have let me know!
Amyway they were GREAT on the phone... no I'm not being sarcastic. Really friendly and helpful. Makes a nice change too compared to HSBC that I normally deal with.
HSBC have finally accepted my new address but today my Master Card bill was sent to old address! Do I need to get in touch with them about this as it came in a HSBC envelope so I would have thought they know.
That's all I have to report, I just fancied a lunch break moan:D Feel much better now.Don't ever be anybody's slogan because you are poetry

Just looked through my finances and if OH gets job that pays for his half of bills (£550/month) then after paying all my bills I would be left with over £600 "spare cash" every month if I didn't have any debts
Oh my God! Why did I let myself get into debt? Look at what a great bank balance I would have if it wasn't for that £6210 debt that I have.
I am never getting a CC or loan again. If I need a car I will have to save for it first and if I want/need anything it will just have to wait until I have cash in hand to pay for it. The only debt I ever want to get involved in again is mortgage debt and with £600 free every month I will be throwing that at my mortgage as soon as other debts are paid off.
I feel so stupid right now. i just want the debt gone so I can move on with my life and not have to think twice before I buy a pizza coz it'll ruin the budget :mad:Don't ever be anybody's slogan because you are poetry

Just paid another £7.19 onto my CC, every little helps. I want to get paid though so I can make a real dent in it but I have to wait till next Friday.
I will then pay £278.92 off my HSBC loan and then I will also ba able to make a CC payment. I was planning on paying £200 originally (minimum is £112) but I am gonna go for the full £400. At least it should make a difference. Then if I have the will and energy to get to a caarboot this weekend that could make me another £50-£70 (I hope).
The big difference will be the deposit for my old flat! This was £665. The final electric bill shouldn't be too much and the council tax and water payment are up to date. Also the flat is clean and undamaged sp lets be modest and say I get £500 out of that to throw at my CCNow that would make a very welcome difference and I can immediately reduce the limit to £3000.
The other big on will be if I find a second job. If this brings in an extra £400 per month then my CC will be paid off before Xmas.
This would be great as in a very optimistic moment I joined the debt free by xmas challenge. So by then I would still owe about £600 on the HSBC loan. Where am I gonna that from is the question.
So there is my theoretical plan to pay off the debts ASAP. Now I just need the will power to put it into action. And this is supposing that OH BRINGS IN £500 per month to cover his half of the costs.
Then we still need to find some money so that he can advertise his business somewhere. Any way more on that after we've been to the Business Link course on Monday.Don't ever be anybody's slogan because you are poetry

All the flats in our old building are band E (checked on the internet) and I should have done that before renting the flat - lesson learned!
But we are up to date with the payments there so they say they will probably owe us some extra money as the bill we paid was till the middle of July! I would be happy with £50-£100 back to bung on my CC. Will make a little but handy dent.
Hi
Just to check something.
Did you tell the Council when you moved out? Not when your rental ends, but when you moved into your new home?
They should refund the Council tax after that date. it does not matter if you were going back in to clean up, as long as you were not living there.
They will know when you moved into the new home, but may not reimburse you for the other CCT unless you ask for the reclaim form.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Cheers RAS. I'm ringing them now about this.Don't ever be anybody's slogan because you are poetry

Just phoned the Council and they say they will calculate the refund and send me a cheque. Though they told me it could take over a month before I have an actual cheque. A long as I get it before xmas so I can put it on my CC I will be happy.
Must remember to give them a check up call in about a month if I still haven't heard anything.Don't ever be anybody's slogan because you are poetry

Good
Glad that worked. We had a simliar situation when my mum went into hospital and was not coming out. We thought that we had to pay CT but someone suggested we asked and then they back-dated the refund to the date when she went into hospital. They took two weeks. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0
