As they are Danes ashes the tubes are very large and people often ask what they are, a couple have recoiled when I tell them ......

I know we're all different but I don't quite get why people feel 'iffy' about seeing things like this. It's not as if the ashes are going to jump up and bite them on the bum fgs.

I'd like a custom made carving of my mutt, a small statue type thing that looks like him and his ashes could go in there when the time comes. I daresay I wont get this though...as a) I've never heard of anyone offering such a service and b) I probably couldn't afford it anyway. :D

What a refreshing change to be able to read this thread without it being interrupted by the naysayers comments of 'in your imagination' or 'when your dead your dead' and of course 'where's the proof'.

Yet, such heart warming posts - a pleasure to read.

Inspires me to do something with my cat's ashes - and yes, I'd like them to be buried with me, when my time comes to return to 'Spirit'.

    only on pets!
post anything like this on another board and you will get loads of posters keen to 'put you right' that there is absolutely 'nothing' after you die! and they all quote one person!
Pet owners know better than to believe there is no such thing as souls being 'only' human. our pets have characters and are individuals and are living things - they MUST have souls.
  • My dog was run over when I was young and a few months after I heard her running up the stairs with her bell on her collar ringing. One of my cats died and a couple of days after I heard him running up the stairs. He used to make a weird yowling sound when he ran upstairs and I heard it quite clearly.
(I don't know why both of my experiences were connected by stairs lol!)

I don't know if I imagined both events and I don't really have any particular religious or spiritual beliefs but it did make me feel better that they might be in a different plane or reality where they didn't feel any more pain.:A
  • I don't think I've ever sobbed so much reading a post on here, my heart goes out to you all who've lost their loved ones, I can't even begin to imagine the heart ache of losing them.
I love that they've come back to visit, either in the form of sound/touch/vision and even dreams to give you a sign they're ok, it must be a great comfort to you all.
I've always believed when we pass on we're reunited with our loved ones, furries included, and knowing how needy our lot are I can imagine them sticking around to nag us to hurry up to see them again :)

Had to resurrect this thread to tell ya all
I heard my Moggie snoring gently behind the sofa last night.
Bless in her last few years she took to snoring and sleeping in general.
Although rather a lot if people have been asking if I will get another and seem shocked that it will be a long while yet. They appear to think a few weeks is all a person needs to get over having a cat for 16 years.
    Ppl are very strange :D

I was going to post this on my 'Grandcat' thread - then thought it may be better if I resurrect this one! Especially as its All Hallows Eve in a couple of weeks!

The grandgirls wanted to come down mine for a couple of hours so their mum asked me to meet them halfway. Now this is fairly wide at the part they walk through but narrows to a very dark overgrown path on my side.

The girls were waiting for me and started shouting greetings as I approached, on the way back down the path they asked me where the cat had gone? er, What cat? the three of them aged 9 and 5btw all said the yellow cat that had walked up the path with me - K even said she thought it I had brought Barney with me!
There was NO cat with me! I certainly didn't see one! and Barnes was on the kitchen windowsill! he isn't allowed out unless on harness anyway!

The only thing I can think of is that my previous cat Nicki had decided to 'tag along' as he was a British long haired Ginger and white and could be mistaken for Barney at a distance!

    How weird is that?

I was in Canada when my beloved lab was pts, and I was distraught, obviously. When I slept that night, I had a dream that she was struck with some stones and died in my arms. Some people might say that it was just because I was upset, but I like to think she wanted to say goodbye. I'm actually crying typing this.

Also, after our cat died, we used to see her wandering around the house. We never got another cat because my mum was allergic, and she was the only cat in the neighborhood that the dogs didn't bark at. We'd see her on the stairs and walking over the back of the sofa.

I can't bear the idea of Captain Dumbass dying. I've never had to make the decision to put an animal to sleep and CD is my doggy soul-mate. Sadly, the fact that he is coming up for 6 means we get less time with him, but I just cant bear the idea of him not being around.

6? that is not quite middle age to me for a dog! I have known plenty of local dogs live to 14 and 15 and a few even longer! think positive and enjoy your time with him! we KNOW their lifespan is much shorter than ours, which gives us the time to spread the love around!

Oh, I know he's got another 6-10 years to go, which is why its so illogical that I get upset. But I'm a softy. When the last of my childhood dogs died I made my mum text me so I didn't have to cry on the phone to her, then I spent 2 days crying.
