Pets 'visiting' after passing on?

rather than derail Ambers thread any more than it has been I thought it might be interesting to discuss separately.
my previous pets have visited me from time to time after they have died. another poster was brave enough to say that her cat had too! so has anyone else experienced this?
to start you all off my DD told me this last week.
She was at her friends and a movement caught her eye, she then watched as friends cat (who died a couple of years ago of old age), walked down the stairs and into the 'old' living room. (they were sat in the new extension at the time). DD says to Nomi 'Tigger just walked in the lounge!' Nomi laughed and said 'yes, he does that all the time! So you see him too?' nomi then said she often sees him curled up on her sons bed where he spent many happy hours just keeping her son company!

I posted on the other thread about my cat visiting me, it was a lovely thing to have happen. I felt that she was safe and happy and that she was coming back to me at night as that's when I was really missing her. I also had my wee old rescue sheltie dog Abby who died just over two years ago come for a visit, she didn't hang around as long as my cat had though. This has nothing to do with animals passing but shortly after my sheltie died I kept seeing a small white hairy dog out of the corner of my eye, this was always in the house and the only dog I had in the house was my sheltie lad , six weeks after Abby died we were joined by a scabby wee Bichon which was not a breed I would have ever considered, I had been looking for another dog but I wanted another sheltie, I guess someone somewhere had other ideas for me :rotfl::rotfl:. I do believe that all animals have souls, there is no way on this earth or any other place that we're the only mammals that have the right to pass on to somewhere better or worse depending on how you look at it.0

Slightly off topic but wanted to mention. There is an old wives tale that relatives that have passed keep an eye on their loved ones by reappearing as a robin. Since me old mum left us ten years ago I am constantly seeing a robin whenever I am working in the garden. Sometimes I swear there is one waiting for me when I get home from work too. Doesn't hang around long in either case - just long enough.

all my pets have 'visited' at some time. my first dog Anni (Staff Bull Terrier) I would hear her claws clicking across the lino in the kitchen every Sunday lunchtime for a few months after she passed then it was just when we were having beef (her fave) and I haven't heard her now for a couple of years so I guess she has 'settled in'.
Timmy the holy Terror - I still see him occasionally, usually when I am walking into the lounge I catch a glimpse of this 'black and white cat' running across the back of the sofa - the new sofa is in same place as the old one but its a bit higher so I just see him from the ankles up!
nicki was ALWAYS perched on the arm of the sofa! until Barney came, and now nicki seems to have left - perhaps he is satisfied now I have a cat to love?0 -
When we had to have our wonderful dog Jess PTS at 15 we would see her in the hall, her favourite spot she had. From there she could keep an eye on everything happening, going through into the kitchen, going upstairs or best of all going out for a walk. She was totally black,no white anywhere. If we didn't have a light on we were sure we would have tripped over her. After she died i would still see her and step over her to switch a light on.
I am defintely a firm beliver in our loved animals coming back to comfort us for a time after they have left us.After all they gave us love when alive, and so why not still be around afterwards for that same reason ? If it helps, who is anyone to scoff at the idea?0 -
I have seen or felt several of mine since they have passed and I'm also sure that my little tabby Abby has some of my previous tabby Tuppence in her. Since day one she has done things like he use too. Certain looks she gives us things that she like that are very random that he liked. We lost him very suddenly when he was a kitten and it broke our hearts but occasionally Abby will do something and I say to her "God you're just like Tuptup" and she just gives me this knowing look and walk away.
I believe they do find a way to let you know their ok in their own waysFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -
I had a 'spooky woman' (my casual term for someone who sees things
) in my house once.
She told me there was a small white dog in the room with us, he had a tartan collar.
I had a westie when I was a kid (with a tartan collar) I had to get it pts when I was 18.
It was over 20 years later when she reckoned she saw it sat beside me. I had never talked about him so it's not like she knew about him through discussion.Herman - MP for all!

I've never had any experiences with pets visiting but I do believe it happens. A bit off topic but when I was younger my little sister used to visit and sit on the bottom of my bed whenever I was scared, I never saw her but felt her weight. I had never told anyone as I thought they might think I was crazy but a medium my mum saw told her about it. So I do believe that we are visited by those we love when they pass on, be it animal or human.
Anyway back to the topic, just before my granddad died my dad saw their old dog Prince laid on the stairs in our house. Prince was a dog they had when my dad lived at his parent’s house. He now thinks that Prince came as he knew his dad was dying but hadn't told anyone else.
Keystone, my nana has said a similar thing about robins and swears that the one that visits her garden regularly has something to do with her sister who also believed the same.
I am a believer that animals have souls, how can they not? they are living creatures with emotions who love unconditionally. I think that in order to love you have to have a soul. I am not particularly religious but do believe that when we die we go somewhere and I firmly believe that our loved ones will be there waiting for us, pets included.0 -

I haven't 'seen' my cat since she passed, but I also heard her claws clacking on the wooden floor in another room one day. It's quite a distinctive sound isn't it, and wasn't my other cat as she was in the room with me at the time.0 -
Amber, it had to be Anni as I only had First Cat for years after Anni passed! and Timmy was completely silent when he walked! (all the better to sneak up on you and steal your food!)0

The only one of my fur babies that hasn't come back to visit was my first dog Ailsa who was killed 6 years ago by another dog when she was 8, Ailsa was my heart dog and my bestest child and I really wanted to know if she was okay. After she died my family went behind my back and bought me Arran who's now 6, Arran was born 10 days before Ailsa died. Ailsa was killed by one bite to the top of her head and the other dogs tooth penetrated her brain, Arran's fur on the top of his head in exactly the spot where Ailsa was bitten sits a funny way and it's quite obvious when you look down at him. Whilst Ailsa might not have come to visit me I firmly believe that she had a hand in sending Arran to me :A0
