  • What a year....! Puzzcat has been naughty and not posting.. well now i'm back....
I hope everyone is keeping well in this strange new normal world we are living in.. I'm rather worried about the lack of posting from many of the old regulars on here...If you are still around please pop up and say hi!!

So since April, when I think we all thought we would be returning to normal much quicker than we obviously haven't... It's hard to believe it's now September, and it looks likely that we are going to be stuck with this SD, small bubbles, less than 6 etc for sometime yet..

Puzzcat has been very busy in my defense of not posting on my old diary with my new name.. I worked 2 long days each week for the first 14 weeks, spending 8 - 10 hours a day on my feet, running around.. who needs a treadmill..  I then spent a further 5 weeks doing foot patrols so masses of walking.. upshot I'm at my goal weight.. and it's stayed with me for the last 8 weeks as my working life got back to a sort of new normal, no office mind...

So great on the weight loss, typically the year I haven't bothered to book any holidays as they keep moving the goalposts, I'm very much hoping to go away at least twice next year, money saved already..
I'm going to post this update and then will shortly be back with more...

  • I'm back...
So I've had this week off work, thought I better take some leave as we are half way through our leave year and I've only had 4 days... Have done lots of shopping and met up with a few friends etc.. I'm home this morning awaiting my new mattress for my spare room to be delivered.. Having slept on it for a fortnight back in March/April when OH was poorly I realised how uncomfortable it was, and although it doesn't get many visitors I thought it was time, so saved up the pennies and today it arrives...

    Money News..

Well debt down in the 25K's.. slow moving still as only paying £35 a month... 58% of DMP done... no rush I'm enjoying the scenic route..
Savings in bank.. LOTS... and now dd has finished uni and is back home no more rent to top up etc... Bless her she didn't' get the best of her last year with being locked down here from March to July, then went back to her uni house as she could go back to work, no graduation etc.. She did get a First and is now job hunting but we know that's not going to be easy and theirs no rush, something will turn up.. She had to leave her other job as moving back home. uni house cleared and yet again we are still waiting to hear what will happen with the deposit.. we want it for our holiday fund...

I did complete some overtime in July and August so that all went into the dd and I holiday pot.. My holiday pots for BFF and I are full because we should have been going in October.. not looking likely..

    Health News.
Not doing to bad, the Anxiety has abated due to my Pussycats now being house cats, to be fair all they do is sleep.. they are getting on a bit... I did finally get offered some counselling literally started the week before lock down...  I didn't gel with the very young therapist and decided to not go back when it was offered again in July, I can always pick it up again if needs be... other than that a few odd health issues but coping for now..!

    Back in a minute..

  • Right last update for today..
    Parents..
Well obviously with the lock down I haven't really seen much of LM, We did do a couple of SD outdoor chats and since July she's been over for dinner twice, but as no one has done anything, no one really has anything to talk about..!! LF well I haven't seen him at all, his Lady friend has got a bit tetchy/cross/annoying over the texts, I did text every week but she didn't seem to understand that I was working 7 days a week for much of Lock down and have only stopped in the last few weeks.. I'm still sending random hope you are well texts but don't get much back and my siblings don't appear at all bothered so I'm not sure where I'm going with this one at the moment..

    Work..
Well now we are out and about again with the masks.. Getting used to those gradually, we are allowed to visit the office briefly if we need something but otherwise it's all working from home and I have a new office chair (well pinched from the office), a new big screen and keyboard purchased by work.. I'm all set.. we do google meets quite a lot so not really missing much...

    Plans..
To help dd the best I can with the job searching and to keep saving pennies for future holidays etc... should really dust off the treadmill as well..

Right that's enough waffle for today.. if anyone fancies waving it would be nice..

I'm waving at you, Puzz!  .  I'm not one of the 'old regulars' that you mentioned in your first post today but I used to read all about your doings with great interest.  Although I never posted anything myself I was with you in spirit, being a fellow cat person.

Lockdown hasn't been as good for my weight as it has for yours though.  I've been eating for England!  We're very lucky here in living in a very low Covid area but I still seem to have developed a phobia of going out.  Not having to leave the house any more as now retired it was much more comforting to just stay in and eat.   I sound just like my cat.  Spending so much time with him every day now I don't have to go out to work any  more I think I've morphed into a feline.

Well done to DD.  You must be very proud of her.  I do feel very sorry for young people starting on a career path at the moment.  Fingers crossed something will turn up even if it isn't exactly what she wants to do long-term.

I'll look forward to reading your posts again and will happily keep you company along the way if you'll have me,

  • Hi Fidelia, Debs and Honeysucklelou2, thanks for popping in and waving.. xx

It's my last day off today and I have jobs to do, my own fault for spending yesterday afternoon sitting watching TV with dd...
This last week I have spent re-reading my diary from the start... what a lot of waffle !! It did remind me of some things I use to do to earn extra pennies so I've restarted up on one poll, nectar and isay.. I've also got a couple of items on Ebay which I think finish tomorrow.. that will be pennies for dd and my next holiday.. whenever that may be!!

I've also done my freezer inventory.. It's fully stocked, but like others I'm wary of emptying it to far in case we hit a second lock down.

So today, get on with jobs, a trip to the supermarket and then maybe some more TV with dd. OH gone off to work, pussycats all sleeping, as is dd currently.. I will start with checking the banking and then move onto something more active...

That's about it for today.. and I've arranged a meet up with LF for later this week.. LM may have to wait until next week, I expect I'm going to be busy back at work...

Good plan not to run down your freezer stash too much in these unsettling times.  I was having a blitz on my food cupboard in the spring, using up tins near their 'best before' dates and a lot that was well past it but still edible.  We didn't become ill from eating anything though.  Just my luck that when the rumblings about potential Lockdown were first heard I  had very little left on the shelves and was having major problems restocking again!  Talk about bad timing! Who'd have thought that staples like tinned tomatoes and suchlike would disappear so quickly from supermarket shelves?  I'm not stockpiling as such now but building up my stores week by week just in case we get locked in again.  Just for reassurance really.

Has anyone else noticed that tinned sweetcorn seems to have disappeared from the supermarket shelves at the moment?  I order some every time I do an online delivery order but none ever comes.

Enjoy work, Puzz.  Maybe 'enjoy' is the wrong word though.  Can't get the emojis to work so here's an old-fashioned LOL.

  • Hi Fidelia,
Nice to hear from you again. Funny you should mention sweetcorn, I remember before lock down I couldn't find frozen sweetcorn anywhere so bought a can of it, which is still in my cupboard.. handy for the next lock down I guess... !! I'm fully stocked up on toilet rolls, pasta and tinned tomatoes and my freezer/s are literally bursting with food so if it happens again we should be okay..!

My sister who lives abroad was put into Lock down again and the first thing that happened was the shelves were emptied. .I didn't like that last time so am staying prepared..!!

Yep I'm back to work, luckily I quite enjoy it so not too disappointed to be back and I still have 5 weeks left to take before the next holiday year kicks in..

    xx
  • So Happy Hump Day...

I've been out and about all day and am playing mum taxi shortly for dd. Tomorrow I'm meeting LF for lunch and then Friday the monthly vet visit...££££

Not doing too bad on the money front, 2 weeks till payday.. and we've got a payrise.. and it's backdated to April.. Result.... I've also been offered some more overtime.. working at my computer so that's another

Sold Ebay items and hoping they arrive and are received quickly so I can pay Ebay and transfer the money to one of the holiday pots....

Nothing else very exciting to report...
