They might take the customer feedback on board and make the 'free from' logo more obvious, or some other change to help prevent this sort of error. They might also send you some vouchers.
This is an eminently sensible suggestion. Sounds level-headed to me;)
Which Tesco was it, exactly?Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016
Thank you Honey Bear0 -
HI i too follow a wheat free / Gluten Free diet. I trust the shelve stackers as far as i could throw them and always read the labels on everything i pick up even from the Free from section (which i might add in tesco is pathetic Sainsbury have a far superior range!)
Contact Tesco hq and have a moan they'll apologies and that'll be it. Or sadly chalk it to experience and give your other half a good talking too about not reading the labels!
PS I have myself been subject to the other half picking up stuff she assumed was gluten free and wasn't. I read the wrapper before it touched my lips0 -
it is Tesco Ilkeston Derbyshire0

ive only been doing this 10 months and dont normally eat anything processed even if it is gluten free, so my partner wouldnt normally have to fetch me this sort of thing, its normally meat fish eggs salad, i am very up on reading labels but to be fair i probably cant blame my partner the items are so similar looking i would have probably bought them too. I think this is one of those ocassions where many forces were at work i became a little relient on other peoples help and it left me in a potentially sticky situation luckily they didnt get past my lips so something was working in my favour lol but it did anger me. Thank you all for your input0

I'm vegetarian, and I wouldn't assume something that usually contained animal products was vegetarian unless it specifically said so on the packaging. eg jelly, cheese, prawn crackers, things like that, even if I picked them from a section that said "vegetarian" I'd still look at the packaging if I was bothered about them being vegetarian.
I would expect Tecso to apologise though, and a free pack of cookies wouldn't go amiss.0 -

It's certainly irresponsible of the shop to have mixed other items in with the gluten free ones. They either have a gluten free display or they don't!
But of course you should never trust the packaging, and the ingredients of things can change over time (especially sneaking artificial sweeteners into things - yuk!).
And of course #2, even what it says on the packaging may not be correct, as per the horse meat scandal.0 -
thanks Humphrey i do get your point, like i said i am very up on the issue as it is my issue my partner was following instructions and trying to do so quickly as the store was closing it is a lesson learnt. i do feel those stacking the shelves in specialised areas should have checks to follow this was not just a random pack of cookies in the wrong place but a bunch of packets as if a totally wrong box had been stacked on the shelf by a member of staff who mistook it for GF cookies.0
