Housemate growing drugs

  • I just spoke to my housemate and he says it is and it isn't. It from what I understand has no effect if you smoke it, doing a bit of reading says that it needs to flower (?). I told him I don't like drugs and I'd research what it is.

The other housemate who's friend smoked it (in the garden btw) was here for her birthday and has now left.

Bit of background. I have been here for 2 years, the newer housemates have been here for a matter of months and we have all just signed a new tenancy. (but the landlady lets us do our own thing, so if one moves out we find someone to replace).

Maybe I'll put a bit of weed killer on each night, and blame it on the weather getting colder... lol
  • RoundUp Ready.

I believe natural things like salt and boiling hot water might do the trick too.

    Don't hesitate to kill it.
  • Oh and I'll be keeping an eye on the attic. I personally think he's telling me a lie, but if it isn't for consumption and just a plant in the garden (its in a plant pot not in the ground) then he shouldn't have much of a problem getting rid of it?
  • No single marijuana plant will create enough THC to make it worth smoking in this climate. He's right: it needs to flower as it's the buds that are smoked not the leaves or anything else. At this time of year the cold will do away with it soon enough.

Get REALLY worried once you see him bringing electricity-gobbling grow-lights up into the attic as it will only be a matter of time before the utility company notice the massively increased consumption and inform the police. Consumption which you will have to bear a share of.

Meanwhile smoking marijuana in the privacy of your own home is a very low-risk activity and not really worth making a fuss about if they're not smoking it in your bedroom.

    Clearly rubbish.

If it is hemp (marijuana is from the hemp family) then yes-but in that case why is he growing it? It's not exactly a beautiful, colourful plant).

If marijuana, the leaves can be smoked. The flowers are indeed more potent, and the resin (sap) is more potent still. But just drying/smoking the leaves will have effect.

I would not just 'keep an eye on' the attic. Ask what he's clearing it for? 'm sure you can find a way to ask without being confrontational?

If he has a reasonable explanation, fine. Keep an eye. If he is up front about his cultivation plans, or evasive, then make it clear it is not acceptable.

Leave the garden gate open, throw things all over the house, and say you've been burgled...all after you have thrown the potted plant out.

On a serious side though....the whole 'loft' thing isn't sounding good, just keep an eye, or tell him flipping straight that you won't have it where you live.
Yep...still at it, working out how to retire early.:D....... Going to have to rethink that scenario as have been screwed over by the company. A work in progress.

True, but the THC in the leaves of a plant grown outdoors in this climate will not make them worth smoking. You'd be better off with a joint made from some Golden Virginia.

The plants need very high humidity and lots of heat to make it worth the effort. Very high humidity which would most likely end in damage to the roof-rafters and high heat which would attract the attention of the police once we have frost and snow if the utility company don't notice the high consumption first.
