I always state that if they pay by 10pm the item will be sent next day,i try to give the buyer what I expect when I buy.I maybe harsh but I think if you haven't got time to pack the item up when you have set the sale to end then maybe you don't have time to sell on ebay!

Even major sellers don't all post next day. I think you need to make your expectations more realistic.

well a seller should be able to get to a PO or Post Box which 48 hrs.

if you cant manage this then ebay selling is not for you.

2 days is fair enough, I was responding to the poster specifically stating sellers should post the day after payment is received.

but as the OP says she will post within 7 days is far too long. I do try and post the same day or at most next day, unless its a weekend and then its first thing on a Monday.

7 days isn't too long if it says it on their listing. Regardless of when the buyer wants it, the estimated delivery is on the listing. Amazon often take several days to dispatch when you buy an item on saver delivery.

I'd rather items came quickly, but if I buy an item that has an estimated dispatch of next week, I have to decide if I want to wait that long.

For one week during the summer hols, i increased my dispatch from 3 to 5 days. This was to deal with children on the hols and a seriously sick relative.

I then upgraded everyone to 1st class - so the items took no-longer to arrive.

I received abusive messages every day from buyers.

I extended the dispatch time to LOWER buyer expectations and point them elsewhere to faster sellers. Instead they went for the cheapest, knowing they could abuse ebays feedback policy and abuse me in the process.

Its time EBAY scrapped dispatch times over 3 days - as clearly anyone going over this will be thrown off ebay - so why give the option?

The new breed of Ebayer is impatient, arrogant, selfish, rude and abusive. A bit like Ebay themselves.

So why do ebay offer a 30 days dispatch option? And why did ebay run smoothly before people like you came along.

POSTAGE TIMES AND ETA are stated in ALL listings on Ebay. Then when you checkout - EBAY emphasise the delivery times. Then in MyEbay order details it states the ETA.

If the new breed of ebays could read - life would be much easier.

I always post next day or same day if paid before 3pm.

The fact is - i put 3 days normally to stop impatient scum pestering me. If i put one day and the royal mail mess up - i get the blame. So putting 3 gives me 2 days grace.

The fact is - if you get WHAT you paid for in THE TIME STATED at the PRICE STATED - then the seller as been perfect and deserves 5 stars.

Think i will join the dodgey sellers and buy a load of stamps. Then mark as dispatched a couple of days earlier than i really send and they will never know and blame royal mail.

Fact is - there is no-longer any room on Ebay for DECENT , HONEST sellers.

How long do you feel is too long for a buyer to wait?

I sold an item on Thursday evening and they paid later that night.

I had a message through Ebay yesterday asking where the items was as it had 'been a few days'!!

I was planning on posting it Monday (today) and she has really got my back up!! Am I being silly or would you expect an item within a couple of days?!?!?!

I do have a job and 3 children so can not just run out and post it as quickly as I would like too, but feel that the buyer is being unrealistic!

    Interested in your thoughts

Make sure you use the report buyer feature and choose unreasonable demands regarding postage. Buyers dont know they get a black mark - but the more they get - the more they risk suspension.

Leaving lots of low stars also counts against them.
