Impatient Buyers!

I work full-time with a family in tow so whenever I list an item on eBay, I set the auction to finish on a Sunday. If it sells, I can wrap it up in the evening and slip out to the post office at lunchtime on Monday, at lunchtime.

I realise that not everyone can do this as easily, but even posting within hours of receiving payment isn't fast enough for some buyers! However, as a private seller, I can't afford to take unnecessary hits against my feedback and DSRs, so I make sure I minimise the risk of buyers creating dramas over delivery times.

The worst problem I have is buyers who take forever to pay - then start compalining about having to wait for delivery! I seem to get one of those about once every couple of months... and I'm going to hazard a guess that they are the few giving me low DSRs for delivery times!

I had a buyer taks 7 days to pay and then say "make sure you post today".

I replied it will be posted in the time stated - and i deliberately made it the full 3 days.

I would rather be thrown off ebay than bow to a low life. No feedback received, as yet, but after the events of the last few weeks - i'm past caring.

in 2006 i once had someone ( a newbie) leave me neg feedback less than 2 minutes after winning an item say that have not received the item. i had ebay remove this, a month later another newbie did the same thing ( suspected it was the same person) but this time when i reported this to ebay they suspended my account for 12 months as a bad seller. even today these 2 newbie accounts are still classed as active but have never had any activity on their accounts. so looks like they were set up to cause me trouble

How strange then, that you support the Rogue buyers.

ps. make your mind up - you said 3 days in an earlier post.

As i said - education is key.

you need to learn to read. so it is you who needs educating

Ebay state a seller should dispatch goods within 3 days of an item been won and paid and a claim can be made after 4 days.

but a seller should have no trouble in being able to visit a PO or post box within a 48 hrs period to post an item.

i am not supporting an rogue buyer. the seller sold an item and delayed in posting.. saying 7 days to post is too long.

how would the seller feel if the buyer made a claim and they get a strike against their account.

The buyer can't make a not received claim until 1 day after the estimated delivery time has passed. This includes the dispatch time as marked by the seller.

I sometimes get people leaving me feedback on the size of my items, when the dimensions are given clearly in the title and body of the auction, alongside a picture with a coin for scale. Surely you'd agree that it's the buyers responsibility to read that information - I don't see how it's any different having the dispatch information on the item and then moaning its not been delivered quick enough just because you're too stupid to read it.

If you want items delivered quickly, find a seller that offers this service.

well a seller should be able to get to a PO or Post Box which 48 hrs.

if you cant manage this then ebay selling is not for you.

without wishing to appear rude, absolute rubbish. For private sellers who have a fulltime job it is quite normal to only be able to get to a Post office on a Saturday morning, most parcels don't fit in letter boxes. That is why ebay allow sellers to choose despatch times including 5 working days, up to 30 maximum.

if you can't manage to wait then ebay buying is not for you, try a retail shop.

That sounds awfully familiar! He didn't buy a DVD from you, by chance?

Something like that, DVD, Blu-ray or a game.

Ive found entertainment buyers are less patient, be it gamers, dvd'ers or blu-ray'ers. I think some are actually sat, controller or remote in hand - waiting for it to arrive :rotfl:

sadly no matter what you specify, buyers expect next day shipping an ebay back this, so if you cannot ship within a day or two, its best you ensure your listings all end just before a day you CAN ship

Make sure you use the report buyer feature and choose unreasonable demands regarding postage. Buyers dont know they get a black mark - but the more they get - the more they risk suspension.

Leaving lots of low stars also counts against them.

think based on the information we have that reporting is a bit jumping the gun as well, the buyer has just basically asked for an update, nothing too wrong with that. From what we have seen they are not demanding anything special or making any threatening noises. A polite reply stating the facts that the auction showed 7 days dispatch and an estimate on when the item was going to be posted may well have been sufficient.

This is of course said without knowing full details of what the buyer said.

Just think that as sellers its a bit much for us to complain about buyers jumping the gun and then do exactly that ourselves!
if i had known then what i know now
