  • Passed the assignment I thought I would fail so treated myself to a day of not doing much to celebrate. Just done what I've had too.

Well done to the lady that got the job and hugs to those going through a hard time x

Well done. I did my M.Ed through the OU and it ain't easy.

    Yes well done Thrifty

Didn't make any specific effort in the kitchen today, as it had been done fairly well at the weekend. So today's efforts were:
    - 2 gym classes
    - special offer on cyclamen at garden centre which gives free coffee, so bought plants and had coffee (I don't always buy plants when I drop in for my free coffee, honest!). Home and planted them for autumn/winter hanging basket outside front door.
    - did a couple more things from 'business start up' list
    - read through house insurance quotes got yesterday and found favourite i.e. cheapest one I've heard of needed particular locks on doors and windows. Fine for most of the house, but no good for conservatory door. Looked up a few more but realised I need to clarify what they mean by "business use" for the house now I'm often working from home. Posted on a couple of forums for advice.
    - cooked enough spag bol for a couple of nights
    - got new contract from local uni; hurray even though it doesn't guarantee any hours, at least they are keeping me on their list. Got email from manager later offering me 3 students. That makes 2 definite and 6 potential if I can schedule them in.
    - went to post office and top up shopping

challenge a particular piece of writing, encouraged by Honeybear I think. Keep mulling it over, although the business set-up has to take priority really. But at least now I've acknowledged/announced the challenge!

[/LIST]Thanks very much for the advice on the cards, I think I will keep the ones from DS and my sis (small box ;)) and chuck the rest...

I tend to cut Christmas ones up if they are suitable for using as present labels for next year......eat your heart out Martin! I keep special ones (or ones from special people) but our area is good on recycling so the rest eventually go in the recycling bin.

Soppy story: I did my degree one day a week while working, and the uni had a lovely card and book shop. Almost every week I chose a card for OH just cos I was young and in love.:smileyhea . He kept them for years, but after mutual agreement we gradually started using them (I hadn't written in them). And we're still together 35 years later...............

    Good morning.
As usual cat fed and Im decluttering a cuppa. A bit chilly this morning. Looking at the forecast I can see a couple of much warmer days coming up next week.

Haircut this morning then off to get some tickets for a writers event.

Yesterday the dailies got done and some of the kitchen.

    Thrifty Congratulations!
    Mummyroysof3 Well done
  • Morning

DD1 decluttered to Wolves, but not without events. We all got bitten in the hotel by something. No openable windows so unlikely to be a gnat. But DD1 bite was right under her eye, Sunday it looked very tender but by Monday morning all her left side of her face was all puffy and forcing her eye closed.

So I rang DD3 school and told them due to family emergency she wouldn't be in but would be back in Tuesday.

Took DD1 to Wolves A&E and gave her cash to get back from hospital, then started trek home. M1 was closed and I had a row with the Sat Nav as she kept wanting to take me onto it even though I selected the option to avoid. Reverted to fly by the seat of my pants mode and was only delayed by hour to stop over to see MiL and reinstate Daisy mode for DD4.

    Flying for Tuesday

Got DD2 Uni stuff in from Log Cabin for her approval, very chuffed with her mini spice and herb kit (two ice cream boxes filled with little conserve style jam pots) so she shouldn't have to buy any for a few weeks until her student money has kicked in.

DD1 room floor cleared of every hanger she owns  Other floordrobe items all bungled into boxes and baskets (including some reference material from last year she should have taken with her)
Floor hoovered, bedside cabinets wiped over.

    Main bathroom

All bathroom cupboards emptied onto worksurfaces ready for DD2 to do a "Pick and Mix"

I plan that she can take whatever nearly empty bottles she wants to Uni with her - decluttering the cupboard and saving me a big shopping bill when I put some stuff in her food cupboard.

My room hoovered and floordrobe removed

My car de-gibbled of rubbish at petrol station

My handbag de-gibbled of stuff at home ( I found 2 fish fingers that DS had wrapped in a napkin from a restaurant from Sunday night.....yuck, doggy bags are ok as long as you know they are there )

Had a row with my builder who is fixing my ceiling from the ongoing saga, I have refused to pay him anything until the ceiling is completely re-skimmed and I with-holding the final part of payment until it is re-painted again and I am happy with it.:mad::mad::mad:

Right will catch up with Fred once DS at nursery, in the meantime hugs, sticks and spoons in jar, help yourselves
The cold never bothered me anyway

bossy thanks for the link - he died 3 1/2 years ago does that matter?
    Deco x

No of course not! It doesn't matter if you were married or not, gay or straight, children or not. It's for young widowed people ie if you were 50 or under when your life partner died. If you were over 50 (I think not???) then there is WAY-Up instead.

Whereabouts are you, I can ask if there is an active group in that area. I'm thinking Kent is that correct?

Well I have been at work an hour and just running (another) download, so will try to update the me challenge post. Now I've seen xx_Jo_xx post I can see how the stars are done - how about a star for each week completed?
I've read through and I think I've got everyone but if I've missed you I'm sorry, and give me a prod :p

Kiddies were awake when I left DS wanted to wave so he had to shut the door and put the chain back on, bless him :D save granny coming downstairs to do it. Think they all got in my bed to watch cbeebies :o

Right I'll go update - my dowload is at 80% so not long to wait now!

Did you enjoy your cuppa this morning, boddy? :rotfl:

Hope your DD1's feeling better, Skinty. Glad I moved away from Wolves 4 years ago if they're now developing supermonster biting beasties there

First job this morning after making :coffee: has been to christen the new shower in the upstairs bathroom - no more stumbling downstairs bleary-eyed first thing in the morning :)

We haven't got the thermostat/timer fitted yet (electrician coming Monday) so we'd left the heating on very low when we went to bed. I had to go down at 1 o'clock this morning and turn off the central heating because I was roasting, after having been cold all day. It's still pleasantly warm this morning :) and the joys of being able to air clothes on the towel rails and have warm towels are indescribable :D

    Today's plan:
    - start SW in earnest (I measured out 250 ml milk earlier when I made the tea) and make sure that DH follows the proper breakfast instructions
    - WMx2 and hang out - sunshine forecast?
    - leave the carpenter in peace to get on with hanging new doors: he did 2 yesterday, plus some skirting boards, and hopes to do at least 3 today because he won't have to keep moving out of the plumbers' way (they've finished now)
    - computer work for an hour
    - make leek and potato soup in SC for lunch
    - write shopping list: we ate up all the syns yesterday evening :rotfl:
    - physio at 10.00
    - shopping to refill empty cupboards (see comment 2 lines above)
    - lunch
    - new U3A genealogy group monthly meeting :D
    - risotto for tea using remains of Sunday's roast chicken: I thought ahead and ate all the nice golden brown skin just after it came out of the oven, in order to have the correct leftovers under the new regime ;)
    - work, work and more work to prepare for the AGM
    - bed, and another day over

Maybe I'll get round to cleaning something tomorrow...

Hope everyone has a productive day. Will throw a few more hugs, sticks and spoons into the common pot - you can never have too many :p
