Went out for coffee this morning. Opened a letter from the bank before I went so was able to go in and argue with them that £30 bank charges for going £11.47 overdrawn was a punitive charge and they refunded them. Then went to work for my training session which was cancelled. Now home having a coffee and realised I'm starving and haven't had lunch. Will have some toast and then going to get my painting clothes on and do some more undercoating. Bluergh

! So baby will have his surname as I do truly believe he will marry me
I'd still give the baby your surname.. it is easy enough to change when you do get married.. you take your marriage certificate in and reregister them with the married name. I did it with DS1. You are supposed to reregister them when you marry anyway otherwise the child born after you get married that one has a legal claim to inherit first/next of kin status rather than older ones.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

bossy what about if you were to give some of the saving you make to the inlaws in recognition of the help that they are giving you, that way everyones a winner.
I definitely would if they'd take it. They already take DS to swimming lessons every Tuesday night (and pay for them!), whenever I try to refund them, they refuse. I left £10 for a pushchair MIL got me from a car boot sale and they just sent it right back. I offered them money out of DH pension to give back what they'd helped with his share of the house deposit, but again they refused.
They do so much for us, you wouldn't believe. Their answer is "we want to help as much as we can while we're young / fit enough to enjoy the children".
So, what I tend to do is give them my time. I help with all their techy things (recently laptops, wifi and iPods) and invite them to lots of social things (they don't have much other family) and of course they spend time with the littlies as much as they like.
I guess the tide will turn as they get a little older - I inherited them as an extra mum and dadand MIL has promised she's going to go completely batty and cause as much bother for me as she can :rotfl: DH was an only child so its all down to me

Did lots, then some more, then got distracted by the lovely gardener man -who came back to put shingle on the front garden - and forgot to report back. Now I've forgotten what I did, exactly
I do remember that a small Tesc0 shop arrived - lots of pasta, washing powder, toilet cleaner & loo roll (stocking up for winter). And the kitchen looks & smells much nicer.
It is definitely Autumn in bumpkin land, there are daddy-long-legs trying to get in the house!
Off to make a start on tea, DD will be home in half an hour and she's had extra dance so she'll be ravenous. She's also all but lost her voice which is nice for me as she is very loud for a small person.

Ah. Just checked the recipe I was going to do - greek cheese & bacon pie - real version & veggie version (with veggie bacon) and it takes 1hr 30 mins to cook. It will have to be pasta then. I've got lots of pasta.
Dusty I'm sorry I haven't said thank you for last week's lists and natty I'm sorry I haven't said thank you for this week's lists *hangs head in shame*
As always, you lot keep me on the straight and narrow, for which I am very grateful :A*If you have nothing nice to say... say nothing*"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." Martin Luther King Jr0 -
Afternoon all, just having a break from my hour ironing. I started having a touch of asthma so had to sit down for a bit. Think it's this darn damp weather.
I am going to be posting a holiday to do list for myself shortly - don't worry about the length of it. It is for my benefit and it is only really small things at a time.
I am so bad mannered I forgot to say welcome back to the returneesI do hope you all decide to stay. It doesn't matter if you don't do the lists - feel free to post what you have done in your own way.
Welcome to the newbies too, you'll love it here we are a lovely mad group of people, old and young. Some of us have been here for what seems to be forever and class it as our home. We hope you will feel like that too.
And LL you know you can post whatever you want, we don't expect you to hide away and not post. Even if it's a hello when you wake up..we just want to know you are still there and kicking butt big timeMortgage Free as of 20.9.17Declutter challenge 2023, 2024 🏅 🏅⭐️⭐️
