Thanks for the advice. I complained via email to initialparking.co.uk about a PCN from Mousehole Car Park and said I would appeal if they persisted. They promptly cancelled the ticket.
In my email I explained that the card readers were not working and the app did not allow me to purchase a ticket. Machines accept coins only despite having card readers on them - which seems like a con to catch out people who don't have coins (who is carrying coins nowadays?).2 -
WOW, what can I say....
After receiving a PCN from CP Plus I went into research mode and stumbled across this wonderful forum.
After reading the Newbies and delving into cases similar to mine, I found the guy to email ( Ken.McMeikan@moto-way.co.uk ), sent him an email, he happened to be on holiday, regardless of this I received a reply within a couple of hours.
"On this occasion the PCN xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx (Reg) will be cancelled as a good will gesture"
My advice to anyone who receives a PCN....fully read the Newbies thread and follow the advice!

I find it difficult to understand why MOTO say it's a gesture of goodwill ?
They have employed parking cowboys, they know that, they should be saying sorry to their clients, the retailers who pay expensive rents on their sites who MOT are letting down
MOTO have got a bad name and the only cure is to kick CP Plus and any other other cowboy out.
Who the hell wants to stay longer in motorway service stations, One man did, a QC and got Parking Eye spanked in court. MOTO and Roadchef need to wake up where their loyalties lare
1: Support parking cowboys who farm car parks for money
OR
2: Support those who pay them rent and the motorist who could spend money
For some CEO's it takes a while for the penny to drop, I suspect this is happening to MOTO
CP Plus are disposable ....... money spending customers are not

I complained to Asda about a Horizons about one I got using their carpark - I can't recall if I just went over thr free hour or didn't punch in my reg correctly. Anyone I got a PCN through the post then before I knew 2 DRP letters and complained to Asda management and they got the invoice cancelled abd I've not heard anything since . Thr manager was pretty nice about it and said they have a contractual override as they want it to deter "pi** takers" and not penalise customers.5

Just to report my win after asking on here - I parked slightly out of a box in a Tesco car park, in the corner of the car park, as the car next to me was parked to my side of their box. I wasn't taking two spaces, as my space was next to an unused area in the corner of the car park, which also isn't a walkway nor obstructing line of sight. I was just allowing space for the owner of the next car to get back into their driver's door, and came back to a ticket on my windscreen from UKPC.
I complained to the manager of the company that own/run the shopping centre that the Tesco is located in and he emailed the parking company to get the fine cancelled. Thankfully it was successful and they dropped the charge, as I clearly wasn't causing any problem, just not technically fully within the box. When I appealed they of course just declined it, as they gain nothing from accepting my appeal.
Thanks to all on here who gave me advice.5 -

I had a successful 'Plan A' appeal to BP following a parking charge issued by MET Parking for overstaying the permitted 30 minutes at a BP Garage in South London.
I complained to BP's careline email, and also to their CEO, explaining that I am a regular customer at the garage, was a customer there at the time of the overstay, and that I only overstayed because I received an urgent phone call which I took in my car after having bought petrol and food items from the garage.
Notably, the response stated that "it’s never our intention to charge our customers who use the site for our services" despite the fact that this is not in practice reflected in MET Parking's T&Cs or their operating procedures.
BP asked for proof that I had made a purchase at the garage, which I was fortunately able to provide, and the ticket was very promptly cancelled thereafter.6
