do keep up ... surveillance is all about the internet nowdaysGlen_Clark wrote: »Well I would but since my MP is Patrick Mercer MP OBE (who resigned from the Tory party and is not standing for re election as he was exposed taking a bribe to support a Fijian Dictator with an Appalling Human Rights Record) I think I would be wasting my time.
you could try bribing him to oppose privatization.0 -
Not that I do much online shopping I too appreciate being able to collect from my local sorting office which is nearby.
This advantage may not be as great as it seems as some rivals beginning use local shops as collection and delivery points.0 -

The government are selling your share, back to you. You control your share through your MP.
Your dividend goes back into the company or goes back into government services. Your re-invested dividend ensures prices stay (relatively) low, that people stay in jobs, that your mail gets from North to South overnight, not within the month.
When the RM is private, and you've bought your shares, you'll get a dividend, equivalent to:- Your share of the postmen's salary who are made redundant
- Your share of the increase in prices, that we all pay, for sending mail
- Your share in the savings made by reducing the quality of service

If I wasn't getting shares for nothing then I wouldn't touch them with a bargepole.
I have to keep them for 5 years so that will give the management time to award themselves huge payouts before they wreck the place.
On the bright side,Saturday deliveries should be gone soon.
Another Network Rail in the making.I have a deep burning indifference0 -

not really a bright side
drop 1 days delivery,slice 20% off the staffing0 -
I wouldn't touch the free shares with a bargepole. Do you consider the loss of the following "free":
- Loss of rights regarding challenging Unfair Dismassal
- Loss of statutory redundancy pay
- Loss of statutory rights to request flexible working and time off for training
will not taking the shares prevent that?0 -

The Government is saying delivery 6 days a week is protected by legislation and that it would require Parliament to change this situation. It is not doing so as part of privatisation. I am not sure how much wriggle-room that allows.0 -

I was told that is the scheme they would be offered to employees under, but I could have been told wrong, I don't work for Royal Mail myself.0
