This isn't a rural area. And RM owns Parcel Force, and in the regulated letters business there aren't any competitors.

Did you read what I wrote?
I said its specific to areas such as rurals where POs are used in such a manner. As in for RM. Who use POs as collection points in specific areas
Parcelforce are not regualted as RM are and as such are not under the same regulation in using POs as a collection point
there are no competitors? Where do your garner that from?

I send plenty of parcels and have never once used Royal Mail. They are always among the most expensive couriers and the pricing is far too complicated.

once again.Parcelforce is the courier arm of RM group

Sorry, I see what you mean now.

. Let us also not forget that the pension fund deficit of £8 billion has been passed over from Royal Mail to the general taxpayer. That means that the Royal Mail books are in a much healthier position than they were a year ago. Taxpayer landed with £8 billion whilst float is mentioned at £3 billion so it is the taxpayer who is losing big time.
I have read £30 billion liability quoted elsewhere. Whatever, Royal Mail pension liability rests with the taxpayer, like BT, which means the Government won't allow it to go bust. Also, like BT, the Government depends on it for their spying operations on our communications.

  • We already own Royal Mail, so why do you want to buy it off yourself?

Instead, write to your MP telling them how stupid an idea it is.

    It's a brilliant 21st century business plan.

Put some red boxes up around town. Invite people to write messages on pieces of paper and put the message in an envelope. Ask them to pay good money to put a sticker on the envelope and promise to get the envelope and contents to the intended destination within a week if you put the envelope in one of the boxes.

    Genius.

If I already own part of RM why can't I sell my share? Where's my dividend?

I'm undecided on whether this is worth an investment but I have registered with HL for the prospectus when it becomes available. As far as I can see the future growth for the business must be dependent on overseas expansion in the same way the Deutsche Post bought DHL and became the biggest courier company in the world.

even better,Ask the RM staff who ghost shares that were fabled to be worth £5K
Then staff retiring got £1.4K in payouts
6 months later when current staff were to get a payout. They were worth £0

Well I would but since my MP is Patrick Mercer MP OBE (who resigned from the Tory party and is not standing for re election as he was exposed taking a bribe to support a Fijian Dictator with an Appalling Human Rights Record) I think I would be wasting my time.
