I have rung the police for an update thismorning, a helpful officer was able to confirm that yes all the details are there ready waiting for someone to go through on Monday but there are three other cases pending and all need to be assessed and alocated to an appropriate officer which will take time. At first they said they would leave a note so I should at least get a call on Monday but then the person rang back to say this may not happen as it will depend on the sargeants findings on each case & which is given priority I guess.

It seems all this type of thing is not priority even if as in my dads case the sums are vast, the victim is left pennyless, has always been hardworking and has never had to bother the police over anything in his life before.

Its a sad sign of our times that unless you have been actually physically injured & hospitalized you are simply not important even if you are very old :0(

Stay positive. The case will be treated with the importance it deserves. Unfortunately the urgency is lower than someone who is in immediate danger. Now that you have changed all of the details back over, and because of the sad fact that the accounts are now empty, your brother cannot continue to steal from you father.

This is important but it's not as urgent as say protecting someone who may still be losing more money. It's frustrating but best to get the right person doing it rather than just a person who might not be ideal for the job just because competing work is keeping them busy for a day or two.

Your right thanks for reminding of that, I will try to be patient & hope we get right person on the job. ;)

Have you read the more recent updates? This is not the sort of knee-jerk reaction that is helpful. The OP is handling a very difficult situation with more sensitivity than I suspect most would and as far as I can tell she is doing the best for her father.

    BTW NANANINANOONOO
dad is fearfull he will be responsible for pushing his son into an impossible situation
It might sound obvious but it's worth trying to get your dad to realise that it his son who is totally responsible for this situation, your dad is the victim.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Thank you for bringing this link to my attention it is so very sad that this happens to elderly people when they place loved ones in positions of trust. Similar to the case in the link my fathers money has been syphoned off over a few years & all transfers are directly to my brothers account & used for his own personal use, in time we may be made aware of exactly what he used the money for.

Dealing with my dads issue has opened my eyes to the vast numbers of elderly people who this happens too which is why there are special teams that work with the police on these cases. I take comfort in knowing these teams will have experienced cases like dads and so will guide dad appropriately however long it takes. I just hope my dads health holds out for a resolution unlike the poor lady in the link because his well being is far more important to me & my family than the money.
