Who is your current provider? How much do they charge for unlimited broadband (or at least give 500gb usage pm) along with line rental & anytime calls to landlines and 0845/0870 numbers? I'm currently paying TT £15.25 pm for all this, if your isp can match/beat this i'd join them in a heartbeat and happily buy out the remainder of my contract with TT. I know the likes of Xilo and Vivaciti do NOT offer unlimited calling packages on a re-sold TT service.0 -

I'm assuming you are talking about a retention deal you negotiated by threatening to leave? I was talking about a new customer joining now. To be honest it's probably these retention deals that are crippling the company. There's no way they can be making any more than pennies a month from some of them. And if every TT punter negotiated one when their contract was up the company very probably couldn't carry on operating.0 -

We are now shopping round for a new provider after the appallingly bad service we received.
We pay TT monthly £9 odd+ line rental+ call costs for Global evening/Weekend calls (standard rate only), unlimited BB.
Looking at Plus Net for monthly unlimited BB, 300 Global minutes, anytime UK calls (premium rate included), line rental around £32 per month (with a few added extras TT provide free such as caller ID). UK customer support!!!
This is only a pound or two more than we are paying on average to TT once chargeable calls are added to our bill.
PS after repairs to our line were finally done the download speed has now tanked. Consulted TT via the forum and still waiting for a reply (posted Thurs lunchtime). WILL NOT under any circumstances deal with them on the phone again! Luckily it is a wireless issue so I can plug laptop into router via Ethernet if I need to download.0 -

Yes i got that deal through retentions but i didn't even have to threaten to leave. If TallkTalk start messing me around, i won't hesitate to pay off the the remainder of contract and move elswhere...but the fact that i've not had any issues with them in 36 months means they must be doing something right.
Back to my original question: which TT reseller are you with? Is it Xilo by any chance?0 -
I've been with TT for at least 5+ years and I haven't had any problems with them that haven't been sorted out by the forums. When I upgraded to fibre, the engineer came and spent nearly 2 days trying to get everything up to date and I wasn't charged anything at all. I've just signed up one of their phone deals too at £3.75 a month so fingers crossed.
Good value I think for what you get - but I wouldn't phone their call centres up for anything!0 -

You`re quite right, their overseas call centres are crap, but unfortunately you have to phone them to haggle a better deal because that`s where their retentions dept. is based ---- S.Africa.
The other problem is when you finally haggle a better deal to stay with TT, sometimes you later find it`s not exactly what you agreed to on the phone!

Update on my problem. The BT man came and spent an hour checking stuff then agreed the fault must lie at the exchange with Talk Talk's INFERIOR equipment (his words not mine). He rang the T/T engineers and drove off to the exchange (500 yards away from my house). He came back shortly afterwards confirming the fault had been with T/T's equipment and it was now OK. So after 2 weeks without broadband I rang T/T's complaints CEO in Belfast who refused compensation other than a tenner goodwill on my account quoting "The small print on your contract says T/T are not liable for any breakdowns in the service or compensation from any failure of T/T's equipment. Well that's convenient. Had several canvassers from T/T trying to sell me other products as well they are a bloody nightmare. Cannot wait for my 12 months to end. SO MY ADVICE -DO NOT TOUCH TALK TALK WITH A BARGEPOLE.Yes Talk Talk is cheap but BEWARE. I went with them for phone and Broadband 29.4.13. Stopped working in July and I was on the phone for an hour to an Indian Call Centre before they would pass it to BT who sorted out the fault at the exchange after 2 days. Then on 4th Sept 2013 stopped working again this is with a brand new BT installed line direct to my computer. Download speed ok but upload speed zero. Spent an hour to Indian call centre who refused to request BT engineer then half hour with supervisor who finally agreed. Got a text 2 days later to say no fault found. I texted back NOT FIXED and then rang them again to get a call centre In SOUTH AFRICA and after 20 mins the lady put me through to YES YOU GUESSED - INDIA. The Indian lady could hardly speak English and when I said I could not understand she hung up on me.
The next day I managed to get a UK office at Warrington where an English man was able to discuss the problem and request a home visit by BT. Only one thing one week's wait for the next appointment. So 2 weeks without broadband so far. They sent me another router but that is just the same. I was with Sky for 2 years and never had a problem. WILL BE LEAVING TT AT END OF 12 MONTHS CONTRACT CHEAP BUT RUBBISH0 -
Just wait until you have a problem - you will change your mind very quickly - read my posts on herei've been with tt for at least 5+ years and i haven't had any problems with them that haven't been sorted out by the forums.
