Or you could leave it for this year.
Apparently wasps not renest in the same place so they will be gone by next year.
Nonsense! They come to my loft every year. If you leave a nest to die out they will produce dozens of queens. Each queen will hibernate over winter and start a new nest in the spring. If you know where a nest is, whether it's in your house or garden, take pity on your neighbours and get rid of the pests before the autumn.0 -

You're both right. They do not reuse the previous year's nest, but if you have a nice loft an overwintering queen might use another place in the loft the following year.
Wasps aren't that bad and for most of the year eat larvae and pests in the garden. It is only later in the year that they become a nuisance and are attracted to sugar.
I sometimes feel I'm running a one man band against campaigns for the mass slaughter of wasps!0 -
I recentley discovered a wasp nest in the cavity wal or underfloor of my lounge. I noticed they were entering the nest through the air brick under my window, so on the advice of my local council pest controller i bought some ant powder (as this was a cheaper alternative to the £54.90 that they charge) and at night fall we liberally dusted around the entrance to the nest,, this it seemed had solved the problem,,, oh no due to the entrance being blocked they found an alternative exit,, the gap between the floor and the skirting boards(millimeters wide) straight into my lounge so i had to enlist the help of the pest controllers after all0

Hello all,
I ventured up into the loft today to put some boxes away and came across two small nests.
They are slightly larger than golf ball size and white in colour. I have attached two images here.
I have absolutely no idea what they are - and whether I should get someone in to remove them; or whether I can just pull them down myself.
Hope someone recognizes what they are and the best removal method.
Thanks
