I had already looked it up myself, which was where I got the £105 from, and thanks to Trade Pro for explaining the first year difference.
Thank you LayLadyLay for your sarcasm.
You couldn't have looked it up very well, otherwise you would have seen the 1st year VED price followed by the 2nd price.

There are currently 5 different engines available for the Punto. 2 of which are band 'A' and 1 band 'B'.
How do you know the OP's is in band 'D'?
Page 21 and 22 of the current Fiat price list shows 50 Punto variants, 34 of which have emissions of over 121g/km.

There is a good chance (68%) that the OP's findings are correct. And that my son, is how to waft a towel!0 -
Apart from the disastrous scrappage scheme which took a lot of perfectly viable secondhand cars out of the future UK car parc, put a lot of people into cheaply built white goods and further eroded the UK balance of trade, do people really put much weight on VED on buying a car? Even at the big tree-stump pullers end, it costs less than a tenner a week to tax it. It probably wastes more money in fuel each week idling at inefficient roadworks and traffic lights.0
-
It all pays a part as whilst that big engined car or SUV might cost peanuts to buy, handing over nearly £500 a year to tax the thing is not pleasant even if you break it down to £10 a week type mentality.
Tax for anything above 150 co2 will only continue to rise in price as the government try to get people into more efficient vehicles so ignoring the cost of VED could soon add up.0 -
You seriously don't think the motivation, taking more tax take from those able to fund these cars, is anything to do with any whiff of a government "Green" agenda do you? Anywhere the government of the day can see a way of bringing in tax while pretending to be operating an efficient, low tax (the headline income tax rate) economy, they'll do. !!!!!! all to do with encouragement into lower VED, more efficient cars. Then they'd have the issue of replacing the tax lost from fuel as well!0

The road tax amount is correct. Today the garage have admitted they were incorrect and we have agreed a refund to cover the difference in cost.
