Thanks for that information I was a bit thrown when I saw that 4+ other banks only ask if you have 3. Decided to try again this afternoon as everything seems to have calmed down and I got a confirmation that I would hear from them in 7 days as they needed to check my application."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

I asked that they contact me by email when applying online.
I'll be going away next Wednesday which is 8 days after I applied.
Will they send the answer through the post as I'll be away for a few months and I'm concerned I may not get the any paperwork, pin numbers etc before I leave. It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0 -
I don't think anyone who has applied online has had an account opened yet. If they have they haven't come back on here to say. I am still awaiting my account details from a couple of weeks ago."Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0

Same here, will be 2 weeks by the weekend...:(0 -
Opening in branch if you have one close to you seems to be the fastest way at present. I went into an old C&G on Monday and walked out with a sort code and account number, internet banking was up and running by the time I got back home0

I applied online last Wednesday and everything arrived by today, I can now log on and see my account. I want to apply for another two but someone here mentioned that there maybe a possible cashback in the future for new accounts.0 -

Lucky you, no post from them arrived yet and not a convenient branch nearby, so will just wait. Did you have any accounts with them before?"Look after your pennies and your pounds will look after themselves"0 -
I received a letter today saying that "unfortunately, due to a technical problem, we have been unable to process your application at this Centre", and if I still wanted to apply, I should visit a Branch.
This letter is dated 11 September, 2 days after my online application, so took over a week to get to me. Strangely they told me on Tuesday in Branch that my online application is still in progress....anyway, I got my account on Tuesday in Branch, so I won't try to figure out further how TSB applications work.0 -

No, I was a new customer. I will open the other two in my local branch.0 -
After applying online, I've now got my opening blurb through the post. Seven working days (plus two weekends) turn around time.
They want to see id, so I have to go into a branch anyway. sigh.0
