The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006
Amendments have been made to the 2006 regulations in the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013. These amendments, as described below, will come into force on 1 September 2013.
Term-time holiday
The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 currently allow headteachers to grant leave of absence for the purpose of a family holiday during term time in “special circumstances” of up to ten school days leave per year. Headteachers can also grant extended leave for more than ten school days in exceptional circumstances.
Amendments to the 2006 regulations remove references to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days. The amendments make clear that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers should determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted.
Wow how times change. When my kids were small we use to take them away for 6 weeks each year to visit relatives in the far east. The only time hubby and I could get off work would be to take the last 3 weeks in March and a few weeks beginning of the new holiday year April. The schools were fine about this and the head teacher use to rave about all the geography they would be learning lol. 2 weeks would be easter but still meant they had 4 weeks off school. Soon caught up when they got back.
Few years down the line when they were at secondary school of course it was more important that they didnt miss school, and at that time use to get at least 4 weeks of the school summer holiday off. One year the only flight we could get was a few days before the school term ended. I wrote a letter to the headmaster asking for permission for my son to have these last few days as holiday leave. Got refused permission. So hubby phoned the school and explained we were going to a family wedding. Oh thats ok then says the headmaster. Look forward to seeing the photos :eek: Luckily he had forgotten by the time the new term started :rotfl:0 -

I like to try and spot bargains that get posted to their page before they announce it on their main wall
I know 10 ways take/borrow/copy from here and HUKD but they do have a good following of their own.
Hundreds/thousands of eager little student shoppers that we'd be mad not to take/borrow/copy from in return :beer:Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -

Not sure if they will be issuing fines aswell , although the £60 fine for each child is still cheaper than going in the school holidays.
That's what I thought but our letter clearly stated that it is £60/child/parent/week!:eek: So 2 parent family with 2 children extra £240/week :mad:Even 2 parent and 1 child is £180/week :mad::mad::p Have a good [STRIKE]Tesc[/STRIKE][STRIKE]Asd[/STRIKE]WHO? day - Err....I still wish Mozzies had a better website even though they are now on MyS!

There are two ways to fine you:
Penalty notice
Instead of being prosecuted, you can be given a penalty notice. [Squills: by the school/ local authority.] The penalty is £60, rising to £120 if it isn’t paid within 28 days. If you don’t pay the fine, you’ll be prosecuted.
Prosecution
You could get a fine of up to £2,500, a community order or a jail sentence up to 3 months. The court also gives you a Parenting Order.

We took a holiday in May this year during term time. We sent in sick forms for both my girls and the teachers both refused to take them...so i sent a further letter saying I need a written response if the letters were not to be accepted. The teachers took them after that. But to be honest, the money I save, I would pay the £60 fine for each of my 2 and still be better off. Unfortunately for my older 2, I would also make the catch up the work they missed haha0
