We're pinching a day for the next half term hols so I'll have to think of something.
We had a holiday abroad in June and had to go in for a meeting with the head and a parent governor, to give our reasons why we should take children out in term time, was a right faff, we gave them a couple of options, 2 weeks in June or 3 days beginning of September term, they told us to take the 2 weeks in June, as easier!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!At my childrens school they haven't been authorising holiday for the last 2 years, so when i take them out of school for our family holiday, it goes down on their record as unauthorised abscence.
Not sure if they will be issuing fines aswell , although the £60 fine for each child is still cheaper than going in the school holidays.
That is exactly what everyone I know is thinking still cheaper to pay the fine, than stupid prices the holiday companies charge in 6 weeks.squilliondollarbaby wrote: »Just spoke to our school secretary, who likes me! We discussed all the training days coming up. I candidly asked a hypothetical question about whether ringing in sick days count as authorised or not & she immediately said 'authorised, far better idea'
Our school secretary says the same and just winks at us when we say will ring in sick rather than book a day holiday.0 -

I know some of you guys have "cough cough" a couple of freezers lol. I am looking for a little chest freezer for my garage on eBay and gumtree but what is a good price to pay ? And how can I be certain the item works as its likely to be unplugged and not cold if I go to look at one.
Any help much appreciated as I have dr O pizzas calling to me but full freezer0 -

Interestingly, my young lady said it is down to the schools to decide if the process to issue a fine should be started - I guess the local authority steps in and organises the fine but only on the school's say-so. There's nothing automatic about it, obviously pays to get on well with the school. Anyway, for that primary school at least, she said that they are unlikely to recommend a fine for any but the worst offenders. I guess the secondary school might be a bit tougher though.0 -

The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006
Amendments have been made to the 2006 regulations in the Education (Pupil Registration) (England) (Amendment) Regulations 2013. These amendments, as described below, will come into force on 1 September 2013.
Term-time holiday
The Education (Pupil Registration) (England) Regulations 2006 currently allow headteachers to grant leave of absence for the purpose of a family holiday during term time in “special circumstances” of up to ten school days leave per year. Headteachers can also grant extended leave for more than ten school days in exceptional circumstances.
Amendments to the 2006 regulations remove references to family holiday and extended leave as well as the statutory threshold of ten school days. The amendments make clear that headteachers may not grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Headteachers should determine the number of school days a child can be away from school if the leave is granted.
We got a similar letter at the start of term. There was also mention of a £60 fine/fee per child per instance of leave during term - if I understood correctly whether authorised or not.

Can confirm the dr O panebello pizzas are both half price £1.49 in tesco instore this morning as I picked up two with mocs with my copy of GTA this morning. Also handed out the other 3 pre order slips to strangers with copies of the game as didnt want the slips to go to waste
did get some very strange distrustful looks tho lol. Guess people just don't expect something for nothing with no catch.
If they were buying anyway it would you get in trouble for trying to sell the vouchers ...

We tried once with DS1 when we went Alton towers one day.
His teacher asked where he'd been so he told her he wasn't allowed to tell her :rotfl: (that was what we'd told him but had also told him to say he was ill but he just can't lie :rotfl: )
