sent me an empty envelope via recorded delivery!

buyer wasn't happy with a pair of shoes they bought from me, instead of giving me time to sort it out with them (I'm currently 41 wks pregnant and not checking emails that often) they started a paypal claim 5/6/07 after 2 days of not hearing from me (they sent a message on 3/6/07. I sent her a message saying I would have been glad to refund her if she'd given me a chance and throwing around accusations like "I've been majorally deceeved by a farudelent seller" "I'm seekeing my justise through ebay" was not perhaps the best way to approach someone.

I clicked on the "give refund when item is returned" option and now they've sent me back an empty parcel addressed to "A monster". they entered the tracking number into the paypal dispute thingy and I'm assuming that since my father in law signed for it it will show up as item being returned to me. Is there anything I can do??!!

Ring paypal straight away. Also put detail of this in the dispute console.

    Retain all packaging.

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j
  • I can't enter anything into a dispute console, the buyer left 3 messages in quick sucession then escalated it into a paypal claim.

If the package was completely empty it would have weighed far less than the one you sent - hopefully the postage will reflect that. If it does and paypal find against you (fair chance) call the cops on this spiteful piece of work. Or just tell them that you are and give the reasons of parcel being too light - may work.
  • Well after being on the blower to paypal for half an hour, apparently my only recourse is to go to the police and file a crime report thingy doodah! Then call paypal back and give them the crime report number. All this over £6.03!!!! I'm waay too pregnant and waaaay too hot for this but my other half is going mental and says if I don't go to the police he will, or do a small claims thingy doodad against them (he's a solicitor).

Get him to send an official looking letter to the nasty piece of work, then get him to send a letter to paypal mentioning court, I am sure that will get their full attention.

If he's actually a solicitor get him (or better still a collegue as its a different name) to send a letter on headed paper 'my client....' sort of thing mentioning legal action plus costs - should be enough to scare them - along with possibilities of criminal proceedings.
  • only prob is I'm in scotland and the buyer is in england, which makes small claims actions a bit harder. At least it cost them £1.10 to send the recorded envelope! to be honest I just kinda want to let the whole thing go, I can't see the police taking this very seriously. Is it worth it over £6.03?

Hubby is going mental, and I KNOW he'd jump at the chance to send a letter, but I kinda just want to think about myself and my baby, not run after some idiot in england who's kept a pair of shoes she doesnt want.

Why not let hubby do his jumping up and down thing while you forget about it :)
