Lloyds - TSB split restrictions & false advertising

OK once more being pedantic, I missed out saying at the moment and in the future.
It may turn out to be the best bank in the world but they are still misleading people at this moment in time. They are Lloyds branches with Lloyds people operating the same way as Lloyds but with a new name. Simple as.
In the future who knows but wht arent customers told of what will be happening??
I can't see anything misleading at all with all the information they have provided thus far.
Your argument about "Glad to be back" simply means they are glad the TSB brand is back and not that they are like the old TSB... No where in the literature do they say "Oh yes we are just like the old TSB"
Why do customers need to be told anything when TSB probably don't know what will be happening in the future yet.
Do you have a crystal ball that tells you what is going to happen tomorrow so you can tell people..... No
So how do you expect TSB to do the same?Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
If anyone can't see that this is trying to portray that it is the same bank back operating "locally" as the old TSB did then I am wasting my time here.
That we can agree on, I don't know why, but nothing they do will be acceptable to you. The Lloyds TSB split has been forced on them. Of course the marketing people have to find a unique selling point, even if there isn't one.0 -
TO BE HONEST that will satisfy me,what the hell is wrong with that, this site used to be good, now it is just full of bank insiders & sympathisers. At least 2 or 3 people here have vested interests witht the bank no matter what they say. Nobody on the outside defends the banks so much as you lot, it is the same people here defending them over and over again not just on this post but others.0

So because we don't agree with what you have said and given you evidence of what you have said is wrong, were all bank insiders and sympathisers and defend the banks?
This sounds like you are one of those conspiracy theorists, where no matter how much the truth is put in front of you it will never be right unless it matches what you believe it to be!!Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -
Yes they are but there it is one thing having an opinion and another defending a bank so vehemently, especially one of the banks that needed a bailout from public funds. There is a big difference between someone who disagrees with you and someone who has a vested interest. The ammount of facts presented so quickly and the inside knowledge of lloyds procedures can lead me to no other conclusion.0

Of course the staff have a vested interest - I am staff.
All I can say is that the reason people applied to move jobs into this bank was to get away from the Lloyds and other banks working culture. People are there because they were sick of it. Time will tell if it will be different from the other banks but no point in jumping to conclusions before it has even started trading!
There will be no wholesale funding or casino banking. It is money in from deposits and money out in lending - only from individuals and small businesses. Profits won't be humongous like the other banks but it will be safe. It is also a clean book with no share of the govt bailout.
Looking forward to the floating of the business and full separation from LBG next year.0 -
I love how people on MSE think getting advice and opinion on banking matters from someone who works in the industry, and therefore is likely to be clued up, is a BAD thing.
"No, I'll take the uninformed bank bashing opinion ta."urs sinserly,

op has got a point, letter could be slightly misleading. it talks about nothing has changed and its saying tsb is more focused on individuals etc.. but in reality its not really gonna operate any differently until its been sold to a new owner.
even lloyds customers can use tsb branches to make deposits & withdrawals for now until they say otherwise0 -

Hallelujah, at least somebody else can see the point that is as plain as the nose on your face.
@Dave179 I don't know where you are coming from either, I am not disputing the way the bank may operate in the future, it may become the best bank ever but nobody can say that at the moment because nothing has changed apart from the name.
You mention about "the reason people applied to move jobs was to get away from Lloyds" well it would be good as an insider if you could enlighten us on this process, because on the date that the Verde project was made public it was stated that all staff that were in a particular branch remained in that branch for the duration of the sale.
This meant if you were in a verde branch you remained in a verde branch and vice-versa , there were categorrically no opportunities given to apply to which one of the banks you wanted to work for, similarly the bank couldnt select workers to move to avoid cherry picking of the best staff. The only possibilities where this could happen was if a senior job like a managers position became available and was advertized meaning anyone could apply. Cashiers and the likes had zero choice .0
