    Good morning you human whirlwind!!

My wash mountain is also never-ending. I actually saw the bottom of all three baskets on Sunday afternoon for about an hour, before I had to deposit a tea towel in one and Ellies clothes in another

I can't believe how much you have to spend on your car... I was blithely walking along yesterday eyeing up the cars on the street deciding which would be cheap to run and was still cute looking. I've decided I'd rather eat instead looking at your figures... :rotfl:

Well done on all the savings, although a bit  at DH. I have no idea how you keep your temper with him, seriously.. He would have had £100 from me, and his CC cancelled!!

As for YNAB... I have one off budget savings account, which is my Regular Saver. As soon as it gets to the end of the year of saving and becomes *money* again rather than being locked away, it ploughs straight back into budget and then just gets spread around my categories, rather than making an account for each type of saving. So I've got £2k in one savings account, and £2k in another... (both on budget and indicative of what is in the actual account down to the last penny) but in reality, £1700 is emergency fund, £150 Christmas money... and so on. Does that make sense?

:) Hope you enjoy your afternoon out. Always a good idea to feed the monsters before leaving the house. I ended up spending £10 on lunch for one toddler in Mr A's the other week (was it only last week?) to feed the ducks! More planning needed xx

i agree totally about DH but I just couldn't face another row over it and how I treat him like a child *sigh* ....He's got his £300 and let that be the end of it (if he asks for more though I won't be holding my tongue :D)

Savings............yes it "sort of" makes sense but not really. :rotfl:. I was useless with money/numbers at school and i just didn't get it. Really I could never work in a bank or with spreadsheets i'm that bad. Which is why it's taken me to 36 years old to work out I must NOT spend more than I earn otherwise I will end up in debt. DH is still to learn *another sigh*. I find it easier to have lots of pots but no one else does, I.e when we did our mortgage application, I could see the MA's eyes growing wider and wider.......... in disbelief :rotfl: But it works for me and I hope that one day I am brave enough to try it the way you do it, I just think it will just be easier all round!

  • Evening all, I'm exhausted and I didn't do any running around the soft play :rotfl: Before I left I managed to do 3 washes, 1 white, 1 delicates and one set of curtains :T I STILL have at least 3 washes to do :( :wall: !! I went to the pet shop before meeting my friend too and got Duke his food. I also happened to stumble upon a lawnmower for sale this morning on FB :T So although i'm £30 down I am around £30 up as we'd seen a lawnmower we were going to buy at £60 :T It's gone straight in the shed though as the grass is too wet to cut!

We've had hail and rain all day and the winds are blowing down fences and trees .

So I think I spent around £15 in soft play (£11 on entry  and £4 on drinks even though I bought my own they lasted all of 10 minutes!) Spent £15 on food for duke, £30 on the lawnmower. Dinner was ready as we got home too as i'd put a chilli in the SC whilst out :T and all I had to do was rice & salad. Yummy and thank goodness I'd thought ahead as I really am so tired I can barely keep my eyes open ( my fault i've forgotten to take my spatone this last week or so!).

Tomorrow has been postponed until Thursday. Well the trip to the zoo anyway. I'm quite glad it means I can get the charity shop runs done and a run to the tip as I didn't have time today.

I had to put some new soapnuts in the bag this morning for my washing and I realised I've not bought washing powder since last summer I think and my huge bag of soapnuts are still about a 1/3 full :T best buy ever I have probably saved myself over a hundred quid (not to mention they're not harsh on the skin or the environment :T)

Hope everyone is well, I intend to browse diaries now and not move, really feel like going to bed right now!

What is this magic soapnut you talk of?!?! I get through shedloads of washing liquid (Mr Small and oh so mightee non-bio) for the entire household. Granted my dad buys it from the cash&carry and then doesn't let me pay him for it half the time but still!!

Hope you got a good nights sleep. Am embarking on soft-play next week with Jellytot. She HATED it last time so I am hoping shes bigger and more adventurous enough now to enjoy it and not sit crying because I dared to put her on a wobbly ladybird and then into a ball pool.

Don't worry about the savings and what works for you. At the end of the day, if it is working, and the debt is coming down and you know what you are doing with it, then it is right for you! Screw what anyone else does or thinks. :) xx

ETA: googled the soap nuts and can even get 10.5% cashback. What madness. Bits of tree in your washing machine?!?!

Have you ordered the soapnuts? I tried for two reasons- 1 because of the kids all having allergic reactions to chemicals in store bought ones & 2 to save money! We went through so much! I did try making my own powder for a long time which was a huge success too if you prefer something a little more that you're used to. 1/3 borax, 1/3 soda crystals, 1/3 household soap. All grated up and it looks the same as any bought powder but without the chemicals they like to add! Got rid of the kids eczema and rashes but soapnuts is SO much easier & cheaper!! :money:

I am EXHAUSTED :( I haven't been sleeping properly and i'm not sure why, perhaps because of the howling winds lately, maybe because DH isn't here (wow I must be missing him then :rotfl:) or another reason i've not yet thought of!
    Early night for all here!
Jelly will love soft play but perhaps not in the easter hols as it's just madness in our local ones in the holidays :eek:

  • This morning I got a text to ask if i'd like to go to the zoo today instead of tomorrow (same lady as I was originally meeting) her delivery she was waiting in for kept messing her about hence her having to keep changing days. No matter to me as I wasn't doing anything important either day. probably works out best I went today as kids have swimming tomorrow and get ratty if too tired. So we went for a few hours. It was busy but not as busy as I have seen it previously (heaving in the summer hols!) Didn't spend any money there and we were home by 12.30 where I fed them lunch.

After lunch I dropped all that stuff at the charity shop :T, did a tip run for the broken bits and recycled what I could there. So kitchen & living room are a bit more cleared :T Whilst in the charity shop I saw a tv stand which would fit in well with my front room  I'm thinking about it as I want to take the tv off the wall but have no stand (I gave the old one to my mum as it was hers originally and we weren't using it) It was £20 the one in the charity shop and I was thinking of shabby chic-ing it  along with the old bookcase we have........but is this defeating the point of decluttering? Someone help :rotfl: Thing is if we're moving I need to start getting this house back to normal so I need to remove tv from wall at some point and then fill all holes in and paint the wall a million times (I stupidly chose granite grey to go on the walls and we need to put it back to magnolia that will be fun:rotfl:) But I can't help thinking I DON'T want more furniture :( but i've got nothing else to put tv on. Urgh. I'm stuck and don't know what to do :o!

So I spent £15 on petrol, £10 in the co-op on dinner as it had got to 3pm and I thought....OOPS i've not actually been proper shopping for ages and have no dinner in :rotfl: I swear if I didn't have kids I would live on wine, herbal tea & thin air OH and chocolate :EasterBun :rotfl:

So I got home and remembered the scrap metal man is due this evening to collect an old bike and so went through the shed to find any other bits to chuck out. The old lawnmower is out, an old scooter and a cross bow (not sure they will take that!?) if they don't take any I will take them to the dump tomorrow. It's nice to have a clear out and get rid of things, makes me feel lighter somehow :D. Whilst I was in the shed I thought I may as well try the new lawnmower too so I cut the grass & took down the broken fence and weeded the garden :rotfl::rotfl: No wonder I am tired!

MIL called whilst I was cutting the grass and didn't take the hint to go and so then asked about the house.......I'd forgotten to tell her it had all fallen through ! Cue me on the phone for 30 minutes and her trying to talk me into staying here for another 2 years to save more money or rent  She didn't make me feel one bit better about it all and made me angry and frustrated as she just wouldn't listen AND she wants to visit with dh's niece who is a little pest and breaks the kids toys next week or the week after :( give me strength!

    so.....Spends: £15 petrol
    £10 food
Debating spending £20 on tv cabinet :cool:

  • Is it just me or has the clock changes upset everyone else's body clocks?! I couldn't sleep until nearly midnight (VERY late for me!) and then DD woke me this morning with "WAKE UP DS2 is making his own breakfast he's using the toaster" So I got up and sure enough he'd found the last pack of crumpets and was happily cooking them. My fault really as he'd got to 9am and thought, "well, seems i'm not getting fed by mother, so i'll feed myself!". :rotfl: I should be thankful really that he's got to 5 and half years old and never tried it before. And DD has never done it either. DS1 on the other hand used to get up at the crack of dawn at around 2 years old and go make himself cereal. Once he brought me breakfast in bed....he was 3! And it was a sandwich, well I went to take a bite as he looked so happy and the bread was GREEN with mould! And even worse ds1 was happily munching away on his own  haha he was devastated when I snatched it away from him and insisted we go make some fresh ones. :rotfl: Ahh memories eh :D

So today my hoover is due for delivery :T I am unbelievably excited, a little less so than ds2 though as ever since he could crawl he's had a weird obsession with hoovers, irons & toasters :rotfl: well basically anything electrical but especially hoovers! So I told him i've had an email that it's arriving today and he was like this ---->:j:D:j:D So I guess I know who will be hoovering the house for me later haha :rotfl:

I've had the child benefit in today it's gone up by (wait a sec whilst I count on my fingers) £1.00 (did that one in my head :D:rotfl:) and my tax credits are pending for after the bank holiday. I've put £25 straight into the house fund of the child benefit but kept the rest in the account. I have a paypal payment pending for £22 and I can't think for the life of me what it is  the hoover was more than that so that can't be it?? So anyway left the rest of the child benefit in case it was something that hasn't been budgeted for.

DS2 has asked to go to the octopus today  it took me 20 minutes to realise he meant obstacle course! We do need to walk the dog so I might take the kids back there so they can all run off their energy at once. I also need to go food shopping for food to last at least until Tuesday. So 5 dinners, lunches & breakfasts.....I hate meal planning & shopping for food. I'd much rather shop for cushions.

The house looks messy but that's because I've held off on the hoovering until the new one arrives. I will try and clean the old one up today and get it sold. As there isn't anything wrong with it really I hope to get £20 for it.

So that's the plans for today. I hope everyone is having a good day and those of you whose kids break up today ....:easter_os:easter::icotbaske:easter_ba:EasterBun Have a lovely Easter if I don't "see" you on here again before (I'm sure i'll be around as i'm on my own for it all and nothing else to do :rotfl:) xx

I love your posts DFW - you always put in loads of smileys and it cheers me up!!!

    b0213.gif

You are really steaming this holiday - you have got loads done. I think you are a human whirlwind!!

I am having the opposite issue with TV's, we currently have an old style TV that weighs loads and takes 3 people to lift which has it's own stand. DH wants a flatscreen to go on the wall!! he keeps trying to tell me the TV is faulty and WE need a new one.
I am resisting at the moment!!

It will free up some room in the lounge but then we would have to rearrange the furniture so everyone can watch the TV and where would all the wires and gumf go?? I think it's easier to stay how we are.

If I was you and I had room in my lounge I would be taking the TV off the wall and buying the cabinet!!
I think your friend being charged £2k has really hit home and it will make you feel better if you can fill in the holes and start painting magnolia everywhere and then by the time you leave hopefully you would have covered the dark grey!!

    Have a good day!!
  • Ah thank you EE :happyhear i'm glad someone enjoys them :rotfl::D Yes that's my worry if I don't start getting the house back to normal soon then it will all be a mad rush when we finally do go!

I'm feeling very dizzy and off balance this afternoon, I think I have done too much (no surprise there  ) I've been shopping, walked the dog, run round the park with the kids & tidied the house (managed two washes, one is dry and the other has been hung on the airer in the house as too late to peg out now). The kids had their swimming lessons so we rushed over for those, you would think I might have been there early for once but we left even later than usual :o we made it in time though as no school time rush on the roads :T. Made pizza for dinner because quite frankly I was exhausted by the time I got home. Oh and the hoover came during swimming lessons so I hoovered the house whilst the pizza was in cooking :rotfl:. I'm in pjs now and have no intention of moving until the kids go to bed and i'm debating following them straight up!!

Spends: £91.49 in Ald1. Was a weeks shopping though rather than just a few dinners so pretty good going :)
