Enjoying the Sunshine whilst Saving for the Rainy Day

Good morning...
Sounds like your morning started like mine did, rather badly :rotfl: - still, two clean rooms is lovely! And it is always nice to boil the sheets once in a while eh? :rotfl:
Pending pay.. nice! Shame he knows what he is getting. I would tell him he can have half of it and if he uses the CC then he is being divorced :rotfl:
Hope the rest of your day goes more smoothlyand more relaxing! xx

Well DH said he wanted £100 and £50 to go off to the CC. I thought great! Then I thought, £100 isn't going to be enough for the trip he's planned. He is being collected now so he doesn't have to pay out lots on travel but he won't get through the entire thing with £100 in his pocket! So I said be realistic, i'd rather he use cash than the CC and i'd rather he didn't cash a cheque because they could claim for that cheque 4 months down the line when we're looking to move and will need every penny (like they've done before) so then he said, Ok yes you're right (of course I am
:rotfl: ) Can I have it all :eek::eek::eek: ERM................. Anyway, it was extra so I am going to say to him how about £50 to the CC and £300 to him. That way the CC doesn't have to come from my budget like it originally was going to and then I can carry on with my savings etc out of a whole wage. I had factored in £200 worth of spending money for him too out of his original pay (without the bonuses) so that's great really it means I have extra there anyway!
One item is being picked up in an hour or so. I think the rest I might just take to charity tomorrow as i'm already sick of looking at it :rotfl: the small bits of furniture included :rotfl:
So I have bought new sheets they're being washed now :T DS1 has hoovered and cleaned his room and thrown out/charity shopped 4 bin bags worth of stuff  bearing in mind he has a box room I do not know how he has anything left after all that, but he does! Little hoarder in work there....!!! However his room is looking lots better and I didn't even ask him to do itI think he's been inspired by my sorting through the kids room and the dvds the other day :T
So not a NSD. £50 in arg^s on 4 sets of sheets, aerial cable, 4 pillows. And £25 in Icel@nd on stocking up on the fridge/cupboards/loo rolls I only popped in for a few bits but thought i'd get the stuff that was good price and put in cupboards as the kids are eating me out of house and home whilst on holiday  I also may have sneaked in a few treats. It was paid for from the cash in my purse though :T so all good.
It was sunny. Now it looks like rain, of course, because i've hung lots of bedding out on the line  The weather is actually going to drive me mad one day sunny and then pouring with rain with no clue it's coming! My new h*max box turned up and I sent off the old one. The new one has taken me around 3 hours to set up :mad: I got so mad with it I left ds1 to set it up at one point whilst I went to the shops. He hadn't managed to do it so I literally had to unplug EVERYTHING behind the tv (which is attached to the wall so no easy feat) pull out the huge cupboard with everything on top (plugs are behind it) and plug everything back in. I reset the internet 3x the box 2x and then nearly cried in frustration and finally it worked. I don't know what was wrong because I plugged everything in the same way the first time as the tenth time. I am so not tech savvy I drive myself mad with my lack of knowledge but anyway it's working so I won't scream at h^max just yet!
One more wash to hang out today (or on door tops as it looks like rain right now) and the sheets are too big for the airer I think (well 4 of them anyway might be too much lol) and I need to hoover and that's it for today, i'm exhausted from stressing and shouting at the h^max box right now :rotfl::rotfl:MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. Other spends this month:
£340.17 on spending money (oops!)
£395.29 on Groceries
£138.71 on petrol (really tried to walk everywhere I needed to go within 3 miles this month :j )
£120.79 on take outs and restaurants (another OOPS!!!)
So if i'd stuck to my original budget I would have actually been able to save an awful lot more huh! But never mind, I haven't felt like i've gone without so that is good and i've made huge savings tooMORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06. I am determined that's for sure. I always start a de-clutter and then change my mind half way through as the job is just too big. But I soooooo want to move and when I go i'd like to be leaving behind all the "stuff" that we no longer need/use/love. Even if that means getting rid of "expensive mistakes"I'm sure we all have a few of those items that we've spent a fortune on and then never used or actually enjoyed having in our homes
. They are usually the items I argue with myself over getting rid of and the only reasons seem to be "nope am keeping I spent X amount on that!!" :rotfl: I'm being ruthless! And yes it's putting it all back that will make it feel better/brighter/more spacious I think

So after finally getting my h^max box working we paid for the movie pass last night which was much cheaper than buying a few dvds for the kids over easter for rainy days :T And they don't clutter up my bookshelf. So i'd got my bookshelves to a point where the dvds weren't falling off everywhere and looking fit to burst when DS1 completes his room clear-out and brings me down 30 dvds :wall: I found a few i'd been looking for for ages :T and I kept several more
and I threw about 12 out to charity. For 50p a dvd (which is what I was selling them for) charity can have them! I'm not cluttering up the kitchen any more! The stuff that hasn't sold is all going today to charity. Including some rather nice toys that didn't sell and have hardly been played with  Oh well. My mistakes. I have sort of learned though. Years ago at Christmas & birthday time I'd buy tonnes of stuff just so it looked like lots ....I learned quickly only to buy a few extra to what the kids actually ask for. And now i've learned not to buy ANY extra especially for ds1 & DD as they've never used what they haven't asked for!!!! So this xmas I am thinking no extras aside from clothes (I know this is very boring for kids
) and perhaps vouchers/money so we can have a big spend up together and they can buy what they will actually USE?! I was hoping we'd have moved by their birthdays so I could spend money on a nice outdoor play equipment which we don't have room for here and I know they'd love...so here's hoping we do move soon after so I can still do that and keep the clutter out of the house at the same time :T
So DH has messaged me, his messages have been sporadic as he's out on exercise with no signal and they've not been letting him sleep so he's not in the best of moods. He has also brought up the "let's move to America" thing again. As it is I think moving 2 (or is it 3  ) counties away is far enough :rotfl: never mind to a different country!
PAY day today :j going to do my banking in a mo and move money to accounts. Same as usual, £60 to rental, £100 to emergency, £30 to health fund, £30 to clothes (dropped it from £50 as we weren't really using it), £30 to dog, £100 to gift fund. Then I will transfer the correct amount to bill fund (I usually add up all the DDs and plus 5% on) Then I will see what is left after paying DH his money and Ds1 his pocket money before deciding on whether to pay any to ISA straight away. I usually use all of DH's wages to live on and child benefit also and the tax credits & the rental income are my savings. But unsure if i'm due any rental income again because of pending jobs so may need to find savings from the wages this month.
Off out today at lunch time ish (going to feed kids before I go i've decided) and out tomorrow too for zoo. After that i've no plans so may call my mum and go see her for a dayHope everyone is well

Money moved about, I forgot the car fund...have transferred £80 to that one too. I paid ds1 an extra £20 as he needs to buy his prom ticket. I also paid dh the whole amount in one go so that's it now, if he spends it all at once, tough really as unless I break into a fund then I've no "spare" money for spending.
On Ynab I have moved some of my savings accounts to "on budget" now rather than off budget. I have gotten so confused with how it's supposed to be done and I have so many accounts i'm unsure how it would work for me. I know they suggest having just the one savings for everything but in my simple brain I couldn't work that one out and would no doubt end up allocating money to things that didn't need it etc?! My car fund is sitting at £540 now so that's enough to pay for the yearly insurance and hopefully a service. Need to save up some money for new tyres still and MOT. Then the tax is due in September so that money won't go very far unfortunately. Gift fund is at £400 as I have been lucky that hardly any party invites have come our way so far this year :rotfl: Other parent's are gutted when their darlings aren't invited to random strangers parties and I am :j:beer: thinking YAY no need to try and buy a present for a child I know nothing about and waste money. We do have one coming up end of the month but we sort of know her so I will see if I can be organised enough to find something for her soon. Emergency fund is over half way to my first target :T happy with that. I'd be much happier if we had at least a months expenses in there though!
Suppose I ought to go and get dressed now and get the dishwasher emptied and refilled. I've already done one wash (ds1 curtains) and got a hot wash on with towels. I have at least 3 more washes to do :wall: WHY is it never ending!MORTGAGE BALANCE when we moved Aug 2024, £120,000. January 1st £118,267.06.
