  • Good for you on recouping costs! It's the thought that counts anyway, but I'm sure the planted pot is fab. £60 for a jumper though  Xx

My thoughts exactly, £60 is too expensive for jumpers. Think these can become you new family heirlooms.x

£60 way too much for a jumper. Not that i have visited one recently but even the posh shops dont charge that much do they? As i say i have not been in anything but charity shops so could be wrong. Anyway hope she appreciates the present and you have a great day :)

Good quality knitting yarn (with wool content) costs a fortune these days, but perfectly adequate cheaper yarns are available, (especially for growing children), it's a bit much just doing it without running the cost by you first.

When I helped out in a yarn shop, I didn't used to take any wages, but had a hefty discount off yarn and needles instead:D

That's if I don't manage to shrink it :o given my history with wool jumpers I'm not convinced it will last long :rotfl:

I have no idea either as I shop in sales, charity shops and fleabay :money: I've never been fashion conscious if I'm honest so I know nothing about costs. DH googled it though and apparently they cost upwards of £250

I just had a look at the label and it says, 100% virgin wool with Aran next to it, which means not very much to me :o She is going to knit DD a cardie and I just asked she do it from odds in her bag so as to keep the cost low :o DD will grow out of hers and we have no one to pass on to so makes sense just to go with the cheapest option for her. :)

  • Yesterday was good fun, I spent on Petrol (£45 petrol, £4 toll charges) and everything else was free :T We all ate at the party (grown ups ate leftovers ....There were literally plates upon plates of strawberries left -my fav- so I filled up on those :D ) and we went to the MIL for a few hours afterwards. We got home and put on the pizzas i'd bought in and settled down with a film, it was such a long day I was hoping for a huge lie in this morning, especially as the clocks went forwards but nope, my DD gets up at 6am every morning regardless of clocks changing!!

Spends today were around £6 which was just some cheap lunch whilst out at the beach (it was supposed to be warm.....it was actually quite cold  ) we only went for a couple of hours and came home again. The nice neighbours gave us a whole cheese cake for pudding :T and i've got out some spag bol from the freezer :)

Payday tomorrow!!! :D Will update after i've moved money about and raided dh's bank account ;) (I've taken over all his bills now and he's putting all his wages in my account from next month so this month I have to go get it out in cash and put it in mine!)

Hope everyone is having a lovely Mother's Day and all you mums out there I hope you've been spoilt :) My DD made me a present at school, DD & DS2 both made me a card and DS1 got up and ran to the shops this morning and bought me a huge chocolate bar ;) I also got breakfast in bed with some tea and a sort of lie in (kids woke me up but DH went down with them and I went back to sleep ;) )

    :j:j:j PAY DAY :j:j:j

This morning i've transferred the following:
£60 to rental house fund (looking quite healthy at £765 now)
£80 to car fund (insurance, mot, servicing etc)
    £150 to emergency funds
    £30 to duke's account
£10 to "health" fund (prescriptions, dentist, eye tests etc)
    £90 to gift fund

DH gave me £240 cash on top of the usual money that goes into my account from his wages as I'm paying all his DD's now. He looked non too pleased about it ;). But it means that I am in the money now and have enough to pay bills as before my spreadsheet was showing a big red minus :o. I'm unsure on my wages, I think this is the last week of having the kids *PHEW* and so only a few days pay for me. Also unsure on tax credits (don't they change this month???) and rental income as it's the first month the tenants are in. I will keep my eye on the account though and if worst comes to worst (no tax credits, no wages, no rental income ) I can still save just over £300 :) A saving is a saving ;).

I used the cash DH gave me to fill up envelopes in my cash tin so I have money (cash) for petrol, kid's clubs and trips, clothes, car tax & I have half cash for grocery and half is still in my account. I will use my card to pay for today's shopping and minus that from the cash I should have had out and take that amount out instead, if that makes sense. Interest has been paid for a few accounts so I've swept those and put straight into the emergency funds.

Spends that haven't been budgeted for this month are : A new duvet for DH & myself. That cheapy one I bought did us good over the winter and now I want to replace it as i've been having such bad sleeps ....also want a mattress topper and some new bedding. Our mattress is something like 12" deep and the sheets keep rolling off the mattress and crumpling. It bothers DH not at all. It bothers me so much I end up getting out of bed half asleep at 3am to straighten it out . SO i've decided enough is enough. I need my sleep and I am going to get new bedding, mattress toppers and a new duvet. I know it will be quite a big spend but I now see it as unavoidable after putting up with it since last year :o Crumpled sheets are a new pet hate!!! :rotfl: I will look on amazon later & ebay and see if I can find a bargain!

DS2 has slapped cheek :( the receptionist in his school insisted I leave him there though and they would call if he wasn't very well (he wasn't!!!) I'd only gone in to tell her that he wasn't going to go in today and she was quite insistent it wasn't catching and to leave him. He was so tired and not himself though I now feel guilty for leaving him and bullied into it  (school staff always scare me ...from my own days at school I expect!!) DD was also complaining of a tummy ache so I told her teacher (who only had half a class in herself ) and i'm on stand by to collect either one if they are ill. You watch I will get to a1di (4 miles away) and they will ring me :rotfl:!

Right suppose I had best go, have to hang a wash out, write a shopping list and a meal plan for this week yet before going out to get it all! Catch you all later :)

ETA: Just moved £150 into the ISA as well this was £100 left over from last month's budget (that i had lent out) and £50 from the gas and elec refund so nothing put over from this month's wages....yet! x

  • Yesterday I waited in for parcels and tidied the house, we had a power cut half way through the hoovering and I very nearly abandoned it ;) but I waited it out and tidied from top to bottom. Today if you were to visit my house you wouldn't believed I had ever cleaned :wall: I was paid this morning, only £150 but I transferred it straight to my savings, signature has been updated. If we have no more income (tax credits, rental income) then this may leave us short, but I'm taking the risk and thinking positively about money coming my way ;).

I ordered a new duvet, pillow cases and sheets and also some new curtains and a duvet set :o these last two were wants rather than needs but I felt I deserved a treat so bought them anyway :p This means no money has gone to my emergency funds this month :o:D

I'm off to a homestart meeting today about healthy eating, I had to cancel one of my deliveries because it is due over the hour I was out at the meeting :wall: how typical! 24 hours in a day, i'm only out for one hour and that's the hour they want to deliver! I will be waiting in for it tomorrow instead, although I do need to get to the shops at some point tomorrow to find some easter bonnets!

I have just spent an hour cleaning the kitchen (again!) looking for the bread machine kneader! I found it in the bin (YUK!) DH's bread didn't rise and I threw it out not realising he hadn't taken out the kneader !

Yesterday and today will both be NSDs. Monday I spent £100 in the shops on food, £41 has been spent on am@zon for toothpaste, shampoo and a few other bits that I buy in bulk as it's cheaper, so a bigger outlay initially but it should last a couple of months :)

Today is supposed to be the warmest day we've had, yesterday was lovely and today is cloudy so i'm not sure they have that right! I've put a wash on anyway to hang out in hope it brightens up! Hope everyone is well :)
