That's great news about the mortgage.

As for the garden: well, I've just started to overhaul mine and part of it is looking great, the rest is looking worse than ever. It's times like these I wished I lived somewhere with no grounds whatsoever. :rotfl:2018 totals:

This garden is the smallest i've ever had and I hate it! Not many bother with their gardens round here as they are teeny, all the houses are rented anyway so nobody seems to care and we don't get a lot of sun either because there are so many houses shading one another. I cannot wait to move and the main criteria on my list is a large garden! I don't care what state the house is in so long as it's big enough for 5 of us, but I refuse to move on to an estate again and I refuse to have a postage stamp garden
My budget seems to be £100k too low for what I like though
so I suppose I had best lower my standards a tad! Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200EF- £642.41/500

Sounds like you want a project house? Are you any good at DIY? To get a mortgage it has to have a kitchen and bathroom and be "livable".2018 totals:

Morning!
Alex, DH would love a project house, i'm not too bothered either but i'd be the one left in charge whilst DH was working away all week so not sure i'm ready to take one on atm. I was talking more about replacing granny carpets & artex & old fashioned wall paper
:rotfl: I can do that, or at least sort it out, by myself
This morning was all a bit of a rush but i've just sat down with my cup of tea to go over budgets & bank accounts. I've had £30 off my friend back :T we all get paid on Monday so I will be expecting the rest after then I should think
. I am going to transfer that money straight to the ISA so that will have been £800 i've managed to put away this month. Next month is not a full wage for me as we have Easter Hols in the middle and depending on how quick my friend's house sale goes through she may be moving at the end of April . I'm hoping that my rental income will be all sorted out by May so I have money coming in from there to replace my wage. I'll go through the budget again closer to the time with a fine toothcomb to see what can be cut back on so I can continue to save
. For next month I have just opened the budget sheet up and i'm short just under £455 :eek: i've not added any wages yet as i'm unsure what I will be getting. And i've not added rental income, so all being well I may be able to make it (wishful thinking?:rotfl: ) That £455 deficit is including £600 savings so worst case scenario is that I can only save £145!
Right off to hang the washing out and do the banking
Be back to catch up on some of your diaries after

The washing is back in after it started hailing! The heated airer is on and in the front room to try and warm it up a little in here! I refuse to put the heating on so am sat here in jumpers with cold hands

I've made a yummy Victoria Sponge but now have no butter :rotfl: I was desperate for a sweet treat though
and it will do for pudding if any is left over
. I think I might pop to a1di after lunch for some loo rolls, butter, and I did need one more thing but it's slipped my mind! I have £5 left in the envelope and am confident I can get it for that
We had an email from the estate agents about a house we asked about (£145k) and it's been on the market for 3 years so far  I am hoping it doesn't sell between now and September
:rotfl: I reckon we could put in a good offer and get it. It needs work on the inside as was last decorated sometime around 40 years ago by the looks of it :rotfl: but it's perfectly habitable. It has a huge garden and is semi rural but only 2 miles from a local village which I know very well from my youth days
If it sells I hope it falls through and goes back on the market for us :rotfl: (oh i'm mean:o) Mortgage Overpayments 2024/25 - September-December, £152.46. J- £103.27, F- £115, M- £91.50, A- £100, M- £200, J- £200. J- £200. A-£200, S- £221.34. O-£200EF- £642.41/500

it really is cold. I am too under a blanket with fleeces on and refusing to even think about putting the heating on. DD got swimming in a little while so i know i will be able to warm up there as its like a sauna in there. Also both other kids going to friends houses for tea so no school run for me yay

House sounds good and fingers crossed its still there in SeptMe, DD1 20, DS 18, DD2 14, Debt Free 04/18, Single Mum since 11/190 -

DH has just come home from work for lunch and asked where his jumper is ....it was on the washing line so was dripping wet  he had to have it for sports this afternoon so has just ironed it dry....he walked out and it started hailing again so not much point in that really :rotfl:
I'm going to pop out in a mo to the shops for the few bits I need it will probably be warmer in the freezer aisle than it is in my house right now!
I've got an extra child this afternoon too so will have 3 four year olds, 2 five year olds and the 10 yr old :( why do I let myself in for these things!!! I hate saying no and i'm sure people know this so take advantage :rotfl: oh well my fault for being a push over
thing is though I thought it might be nice so I was hoping I could throw them all in the garden (not literally....) and they could be kept busy there but it is freezing and wet so no chance now! Film day perhaps??????????? Might see if i can stretch my fiver to some cheap crisps in a1di

Great news about the mortgage! I totally understand how you feel about the house. When we were last looking to buy a place, I'd watch loads of houses on Rightmove even though we hadn't even sold our own place, and feel really sad if they sold.
How dare someone else buy "my" house! 0 -
That's positive about the mortgage...really pleased for you

DFW321: Any reasons you do not feel ready to take on a project yet? If it's down to a lack of experience with hand tools / or lack of faith in your work, most craft type jobs can be fairly easily self taught, with practise you get much better. Whilst your first efforts will be somewhat clumsy and crude, you'll quickly learn. Dust off those old woodworking tools and get to it.
