Do you mind if people call you babe?

Hun or hon annoys me a bit, as I don't think it's something that's down to dialect, just a bit 'buddy-buddy.'
Duck is used all the time here and I find it really endearing to be honest.0 -
Hate it - one of my pet peeves. Don't mind so much in text messages from friends when it's usually a form of endearment but hate when someone says it to my face. I am neither the pig from the movie of the same name nor a baby - don't call me babe!0

I tend to use "sweets" as well, no idea where I got that from!
OH called me "snookums" this morning. He got a funny look for that one!

My OH calls me babe and I call her babe, when she uses my name I think I am in trouble
It's like that in my house as well :rotfl:
I'm from Essex so babe, sweetheart, darling etc are all commonplace to me and I'm not offended at all.
I am likewise guilty of using the same terms for others, regardless of friend or stranger. I'd say most of the time I don't even know I'm saying it, it just rolls off the tongue. As yet, no one has ever said they were offended and if they did, of course I would stop.Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it!!:eek:0 -
The post-room blokes and one of our previous Receptionists (and maybe others I don't know about!) call me 'Jugs'!
Good job I'm not easily offended *rolls eyes*

Jugs? Now that I wouldn't be happy about!0

I call everyone sugar-tits, saves having to ask people's names.0

Depends what it is and who's saying it I suppose. I despise 'babe' personally- it just sounds sleazy to me, and I can't help but hear it in an atrocious chavvy voice when I see it. Thankfully my partner hates it too so I don't have to hear it!
I don't really mind randoms calling me by a pet name. Generally it's just their way of being friendly after all. There was one woman working in a shop that used to call everyone 'my lover' which I did find a little odd, but it was good for a laugh :rotfl: Generally though I think 'dear', 'love', 'duck' etc are all rather sweet and nothing to get angry about.0
